Mel Tucker officially fired. Anyone to look at who could possibly jump in the portal?

As of about 60 seconds ago, Mel Tucker was officially canned.

With four games gone in the season, players on that team that want to keep this year's eligibility would have to enter the portal SOON.  I'd suspect several will.

That said, is there anybody on that squad you'd want the staff to pursue?

I’d be very surprised if Michigan makes gets any traction with Nick Marsh.  His mom is all about that state green even after the tucker stuff came out she was posting about how great the team moms are.  I could see even if he decides a to decommit (again) he would end up at psu or even Kentucky.

M  didn’t seem to ever really be in it for Marsh.  Not sure if that was from the M side or his.

Unfortunately I suspect he ends up at PSU if he stays in the B1G as they were the runner up when he re-committed to MSU (remember he has decommitted from MSU once already).

I did see Colorado has “entered the chat” as they have with many top kids during the current Deion hype.

According to E.J. Holland, Michigan is trying to flip Nitareon Tuggle who is committed to Georgia and goes to the same high school as Jo'Ziah Edmond.  With Georgia's NIL being better than Michigan's for high school recruits, I would assume that is a long shot.  I have also read that Colorado will be pushing for Marsh.

I am surprised we have not heard anything about Michigan expanding their EDGE recruiting after losing their top 2.

With how that went down I bet they wait until senior tape starts rolling in to find another guy there a lot like they did with Rod Pierce and Jimmy Rolder.  Edge and corner this class has been head scratching.  I suppose those are the premier positions along with QB that are making the most in the pay for play NIL programs and M can’t match.

The corner recruiting has been a bit wonky for a couple of season, honestly.  Last year they took Hill who looks solid but nobody else, and thus far in 2024 they've struck out though obviously things can change.

I'm less worried about edge recruiting because they at least got a top-100-ish edge in Etta last year so there's still evidence they can get guys in that weight class.

I know Harbaugh maybe refers to him as a corner but he still feels a bit more like a tweener given his size and even if he's a corner he's still a guy outside the top 700 recruits at a position where you'd really like to have more proven-ish commodities.  It's why their decision to move Walker out there felt a bit troubling; Walker is a better athlete and there were some discussions during his recruitment that he could play corner or safety but not every guy turns into Mike Sainristil when you flip him on the field and I'd prefer if Michigan just pulled in guys who were primarily playing the position instead of hoping to mold other guys into said roles.

With Georgia's NIL being better than Michigan's for high school recruits,

I'm not sure this is true.  Part of the reason Julian Lewis choose USC over Georgia was NIL. He was a Bulldogs fan growing up and thought to be a Georgia lock. But USC's NIL money converted the phenom into a Trojan.
