Mel Tucker officially fired. Anyone to look at who could possibly jump in the portal?
As of about 60 seconds ago, Mel Tucker was officially canned.
With four games gone in the season, players on that team that want to keep this year's eligibility would have to enter the portal SOON. I'd suspect several will.
That said, is there anybody on that squad you'd want the staff to pursue?

Dillon Tatum maybe?not sure if he stacks up against what’s already on the 2 deep at DB. I’ve always thought Maliq Carr would’ve been very useful here in a Bette s&c program.

I'd take Andrew Depaepe based on recruiting profile + there was some mutual interest if i recall correctly, and after one semester in EL shouldn't be an issue transferring.

They were never going the fade the heat from this one. I suspect they initially tried to nudge him into an amicable split that might have involved a small severance. Once the USAT article dropped that door closed.

Does the USAT story drop without leaks from MSU? I think even if it had, we'd be hearing a lot about sensitivity training for Mel. MSU and Tucker would not be at war with each other.

Tatum grew up a State fan and only considered Michigan because of Edwards and Bellamy. He was always a state lean and Michigan couldn’t convince him to join his ex coach and teammates. Maybe they can now, but Michigan was always number 2 for him.
