That was fun!

Where is the snowflake thread for the announcing??
September 3rd, 2022 at 3:34 PM ^
Despite mistakes and gaps in talking about the game, I liked 'em.
I liked the improvisation between the obviously prepared bits. Like they were actually people actually talking to each other and us.
September 3rd, 2022 at 4:16 PM ^
Really? I thought it was terrible. I like RGIII and thought he was good at times. But the PBP guy was atrocious. It seemed like he was watching a different game at times. And a lot of their bits were too over the top and cheesy.
September 3rd, 2022 at 4:47 PM ^
His line about "African Berry Juice"(?) had me and my wife looking at each other very perplexed. Not the A-Team in the booth today.
September 3rd, 2022 at 6:31 PM ^
Counter point, Over the Top was cheesy but also very good! One of those classic 80s movies that aged quite well.
September 3rd, 2022 at 9:06 PM ^
Some rich people problems when the announcers are what we are complaining about instead of coaches and refs
September 4th, 2022 at 9:31 AM ^
They're just very raw talent. They just need to be coached up. High ceiling, low floor kind of talent
September 3rd, 2022 at 7:10 PM ^
Mark Jones is terrible. He is very cheesy and I am not a fan of him.
September 3rd, 2022 at 7:25 PM ^
When Corum hurdled a fool Mark Jones compared him to some player who was not Hassan Haskins. Unforgivable.
September 3rd, 2022 at 5:50 PM ^
I feel Carl Grapentine acquitted himself well.
September 3rd, 2022 at 7:29 PM ^
I don't know who it was (not RG3) but someone made a comment using the metaphor, "It's like seeing a woman without make up -- you know what she really looks like." Right up there with "Does the carpet match the drapes" type of bar talk. It's the 21st century - women are watching, too, now.
September 3rd, 2022 at 7:48 PM ^
It’s the 21st century, there is no carpet…
September 4th, 2022 at 11:02 AM ^
I'm a little surprised at how much people were loving it. I thought they were fine, but as long as you're not completely obnoxious I don't care all that much, either. Personally I wish the broadcast had shown more of the on the field shots then constant sideline/fan shots and pre-produced segments. I like to see them line up and see the formations and who is out there and it seems like they barely show that anymore, half the time it seems like they cut back right when the ball is being snapped.
September 3rd, 2022 at 3:26 PM ^
No injuries as far as I could see. Huge plus. Go Blue!
September 3rd, 2022 at 4:15 PM ^
Barnhart went out early. Keegan moved to LT and El-Hadi in at LG. Not sure if Barnhart returned or not but that was the only injury I noticed.
September 3rd, 2022 at 4:16 PM ^
Barnhart was in for Hayes. Then Barnhart went out with what appeared to be an ankle thing. Not sure if Hayes started. Keegan slid over to LT and El-Hadi came in at LG
September 3rd, 2022 at 5:40 PM ^
Hayes was in street clothes during warm-ups
September 3rd, 2022 at 3:27 PM ^
Looked like Minter unleashed a pack of dogs (our d line) vs a medium rare steak (their qb).
That was domination. I know, competition caveats but still.
September 3rd, 2022 at 3:29 PM ^
They looked good
September 3rd, 2022 at 3:30 PM ^
FIRE BORGES!!
The bad old days: So glad to laugh about them now. This coaching staff is fucking A+
September 3rd, 2022 at 4:35 PM ^
THEN RE-HIRE BORGES!!
September 3rd, 2022 at 5:24 PM ^
And then FIRE HIM AGAIN
September 4th, 2022 at 3:53 AM ^
That was such a dark place to be in.
September 3rd, 2022 at 3:30 PM ^
Time for the coaches to ride with JJ and develop him.
Given our defense, how explosive the offense can be, and the way the schedule lays out, you can afford for him to do something boneheaded to get his upside.
Time to get him going.
September 3rd, 2022 at 4:16 PM ^
I’d also argue you’d want to get the fresh starter bone headed mistakes out NOW and not give him the keys when we’re heading into the meat of the schedule. It’s time. Give the keys to JJ, let Cade have garbage time snaps.
September 4th, 2022 at 6:37 AM ^
Haven't they been developing him?
He's noticeably improved.
September 3rd, 2022 at 3:33 PM ^
Not letting up with the third and fourth team.
Good. Very good.
September 3rd, 2022 at 4:58 PM ^
It felt like they were starting to take their foot off the gas until CSU scored. Then the pedal was to the metal again.
September 3rd, 2022 at 3:35 PM ^
How do you spell "nepotism"?
G-O-O-D-W-O-R-K
September 3rd, 2022 at 3:44 PM ^
HARBAUGH is about to embarrassing himself for this “Biblical” comment about the QB position. Cade was garbage today.
September 3rd, 2022 at 5:13 PM ^
weird football coach says weird/dumb thing isn't really headline worthy
September 3rd, 2022 at 5:30 PM ^
The defending big ten champ and coach of the year needs to apologize for starting a QB against CSU that also beat OSU and won the Big ten and lead us to the playoff? You are garbage.
September 3rd, 2022 at 8:30 PM ^
If you were listening to RG3’s dimes he explained it, after receiving a text from John Harbaugh in the booth, watering two seeds, one isn’t growing!
September 3rd, 2022 at 3:46 PM ^
Didn't really even have to coach lol
September 3rd, 2022 at 3:53 PM ^
Not sure if they didn’t throw because they didn’t need to or if there is a real trust issue with McNamara. I thought there’d be more airing it out to get a fair assessment.
September 3rd, 2022 at 4:47 PM ^
I got the impression that the coaches saw early on that Cade didn't have it today and switched to the run-heavy attack to get a bigger lead. So, trust issue, yes, at least for today it seemed. I am with you as I too was hoping we would work on some downfield passing. I still think we need to be comfortable with that before the tougher games, but Coach(es) seem to disagree.

September 3rd, 2022 at 6:30 PM ^
Hogwash. The gameplan was always to run first, as it should have been. Also, they were run first with JJ in there too, and he wasn't looking off.
September 3rd, 2022 at 11:17 PM ^
They also weren't running it all that well early. I thought they should get some reps running and that's what they did.
McNamara did not look sharp though. He may have just lost his job.
September 4th, 2022 at 7:34 AM ^
Especially with a new line and unfortunately with even newer pieces than planned.
OSU took a page from us last year in their game to beat ND. Run the ball.
September 3rd, 2022 at 3:54 PM ^
Dominating win, few penalties or big mistakes, preserved the playbook, lot of people played and thankfully no injuries.
September 4th, 2022 at 7:38 AM ^
Barnhart who was in for the injured Hayes got hurt early. So, we were effectively down 2 starters for most of the game on the left side of the line. Hopefully, they're both healthy soon.
We had a very healthy line last year. Hopefully, we'll enjoy that luck again this year.
September 3rd, 2022 at 4:02 PM ^
Looks like it might be a real smooth transition into the Minter era
September 3rd, 2022 at 4:11 PM ^
I think there are a few keys to this.. One - the scheme is the same, or very similar. Two - the staff is “young” and the players relate better with them. Third - communication - between players on the field - as well as with staff on the sidelines - is good.
September 3rd, 2022 at 6:20 PM ^
Yeah, but there are plenty of young coaches who couldn’t handle a transition nearly this smoothly. This was as a good of a first defensive start as we could have hoped for with a new coordinator.
September 3rd, 2022 at 4:02 PM ^
It's no big deal but I was expecting less ground game play calls but I get it-it's game 1 and they didn't need to do anything fancy. Putting JJ in there really woke up the offense which blew out CSU. With a 51-7 win, all is good. Maybe running the ball more ate up more clock and allowed for a speedy end of the game played on a hot and humid day.
It's been a very FUN day!
September 3rd, 2022 at 4:02 PM ^
There is nothing of value to be derived from today's game. Thankful for the reps and lack of injuries. Moving on.
