Michael Scott explained to all that you know you are getting the best possible information at Wikipedia. So I'm not sure why there is still any debate about this.
Even if we fix everything on your list, our sun only has so much fuel to burn. Yes, the earth is doomed.
Anyone know how much hydrogen is left in that lovely yellow ball?
Those shareholders you disdain just might include your hard-working neighbor next door, barely getting by, but with what little retirement he has invested in a mutual fund.
I trust you are being sarcastic, but many honestly feel this way.
We do all understand someone else has to pick up the debt we leave behind, correct? Perhaps "just bank shareholders," but said shareholders are, indeed, people. And for some of those shareholders we are talking about their retirement funds.
Surprised this wasn't posted earlier. Michigan has a fairly decent aerospace engineering department. I always thought they were the weirdos in the classrooms next door, but that's just me.
Well, fine. But, as your link states, "unsuccessful business deals and...two divorces" liquidated what was no small amount of assets he obtained during several years as an absolutely dominant pitcher.
Anyone remember J.R. Richard (Houston Astros great) living under an overpass? He was able to get things righted after hitting rock-bottom. May Peterson find a similar path.
Oddly, I like this analogy. But I love me a good WWII flick.
Assuming the US and UK never existed, the pact between Germany and the Soviets would have gone swimmingly, had they agreed to simply get along. So which country is the B1G in this scenario?
I agree that the credit goes to the players. But they call it "home field advantage" for a reason. A strong fan base matters. I'll agree to 99.99% goes to the players/coaches.
Especially for Brian Griese, who had a miserable first half but had everyone behind him after halftime. I was at that game with my brother-in-law who, at halftime, said, "You know we're going to lose this game, right?"
It's always a delight to spend decades chiding your in-laws.
"Those of us who survived the 1995 Purdue “ice-rain” bowl know the truth."
Yep! I was there. I have been negbanged for saying this, with photos of the lower bowl providing supposed evidence to the contrary. But, no, we did not reach 100k that day.
Yeah, M has some professors who forwarded the art of "fuzzy math." It definitely forwarded the science behind current search engines, but let's not be too critical of others. I've been to a few games where actual people in the stadium didn't exactly match announced attendance.
I needed a bit of a diversion this morning, so I read about Bronko Nagurski.
Loved the story about him opening a filling station in a small Minnesota town later in life, and the local legend that he assured himself repeat business by screwing everyone's gas cap on so tightly that only he was able to loosen it again.
Believe it or not, I played trombone in the MMB. I have never played flute beyond making a few noises for fun (dated a flute player for a while). But I imagine if I picked up a flute tonight and worked hard, this is about how I would sound tomorrow afternoon.
I think we would all prefer a JH who is just like the one we have now but doesn't interview with the NFL every year. Well, that JH doesn't exist.
I don't thank any other hire we could have brought in instead of Harbaugh would have brought is to the top.
I am thrilled with what we got with this Jim Harbaugh. Find me a better one and I'm all in!
And... if the worst happens and he leaves, his successor isn't walking into the disaster RR and JH inherited. No team with next year's D will be sub-.500. And the offense won't be too shabby either. Another NC? Not likely. But it's never likely. I'm very pleased with the Harbaugh we hired.
"To many fans consistently winning the Big Ten means more."
I get your point, and I suspect you are correct. To each his own, I guess.
To me, the only year that compares to this one is 97, and that one had the Fulmer debacle. Every other B1G championship feels hollow in comparison to this year. But that's just me.
Hypothetical extreme case: Would you go 1-9 against both MSU and Ohio each decade if that one win was a perfect season and included a National Championship? If that's your scenario, I guess I would probably rather regularly beat Ohio. But I'd be torn...
"What is the response is he leaves and much of it comes undone... maybe even with a sub 0.500 season next year?"
My response is Team 144 was worth the sacrifice. How many teams win it all? If M does it once a decade, I'm in hog heaven. I'll take once every two decades. Why perpetuate 10-2 (or whatever) if you can actually win all the marbles?
Example: How does OSU feel about their last three years?
I too was at the 97 Iowa-M game. At halftime, my brother-in-law turned to me and said, "You know we're going to lose this game, don't you?" I engaged in some shut-up.
I confess to since having made much more play out of his prognostication than a kind person would.
Griese's turnaround at halftime may have been his finest moment.
I'm going to have to go through all the stages of grief. But in the end, we are going to embrace a new era of M football. The last one ended at the pinnacle! May the next one get there soon.

I enjoyed the Pi thread yesterday. Oh, and the new RB coach stuff. Good things happened this week! Pos-Bang!

Don't be a classist.

Oops! Apologies!
I meant "weirdos" in the most complimentary manner possible. East and West Engineering were "large tents" back in my day!
Hail! Need more be said???

Here's a nice link for details:

But for something much more realistic, anyone else watching the latest Dune sequence?

The Michigan Difference. How many on RCMB know the etymology of said phrases? And yet, here we are. Well informed.
Well! That's some food for thought!

I think you meant, "Mike Hart is like Nick Saban but a great recruiter."
That's more of a Freddie-ism.
Shameful. What will be left of the NFL if colleges keep poaching all their coaches two weeks after they come on board?
"a fumble out of bounds is still live and any player may recover it"
This would be great! The teams could fight all the way up the tunnel and out into the parking lot!

Correct, sir!
I find naked chick posts such as yours extremely offensive to many of my sensibilities!

Seems like a good guy.
And, yeah, the Simpson's clip in the OP is cute.
Yes, OSU is going all-in to replicate Team 144. But it takes a lot to make all the pieces fall into place. May they stumble somewhere along the way.
"Always seems like everything with Michigan is slow moving, especially under the Harbaugh years."
I'll say! It took WAY to long to win it all. I'm still irritated. Yeah, it's nice, but why did this not happen years ago???
Fellow engineer. I had to look up "subtile." I left feeling confused. Did you mean subtle?
I have three daughters. Two are engineers, one has two degrees in English Lit. I can communicate with all three, but one definitely takes more effort.
No one has posted a "talking cars" post in a while, so what are we supposed to talk about besides MGoPoints?
Hopefully some official hires happen soon so we can all argue about them.
Ooooof! I'm going to have a hard time unseeing that.
By the way, Brian, I think I'm missing roughly 7,000 points. Just trust me and add them at your convenience.
Yes, in this case the enemy of my enemy is definitely my friend. At least for the moment. I'll hate Tennessee again later.
So if the rooster is having sex with the hens, who's having sex with the chickens?
Or is it the other way around?
Asking for Frank, a friend...
I'm wondering if sticking with maize and blue as our colors isn't a big problem moving forward. Is this why we are not in on any of the big names?
Just looking for opinions.

My highest aspiration for myself has always been to have a plaque with my name on a urinal in the basement of the former West Engineering building.
So it's a bit beyond me to imagine how to honor someone who actually has mattered.
"The MMBbones memorial urinal"
Wow! I can only dream...
Too bad they didn't do a 2023 episode
"Giddy up over to Hazel Park! Come on out and horse around!"
Anyone remember that ad on WJR?

Correct, but keep things in perspective.
In saying, "it does hurt Michigan," would M have won more of a National Championship had JH not had those offseason interviews?

Re: Penn State 97
I wouldn't quibble about ranking with 1-10, but yes. That win was huge. It definitely belongs in the top ten.
I'm much more concerned about the possibility of having to replace the legend that is Jim Harbaugh.
I agree with the "regression effect" applying to Alabama. But they'll sort things out over time.
Phew! I was feeling a bit of BPONE after departure after departure.
All will be new next season, but it will be good!

What? We don't get a free poster of Brian? I've been working all these years for nothing?
After the release of MSPaint in 1985, other graphics software has been largely superfluous.
