That's an odd take.

Peters was rated higher.

Peters had better offers.

Peters didn't need an extra year of high school to get to where he was.

Peters was better as a redshirt freshman than Speight, despite the fact that Speight was on a better team (10-3 to 8-5) with better receivers (Butt, Darboh, Chesson compared to McKeon, Peoples-Jones, Crawford):

Peters (2017): 52.8% completions, 4 TD, 2 INT
Speight (2015): 36% completions, 1 TD, 1 INT

There's absolutely nothing to indicate that Peters is on a worse career arc than Speight.

Brandon Peters is in a tough spot. He could continue on at Michigan---except Shea Patterson and Dylan McCaffrey are better. So I agree with everyone who is saying he will transfer, and it's not because he's bad. He will do a great job somewhere else. His accuracy is beautiful. I just don't want to see him at Wisconsin. Seems like he'd be a perfect fit there.

Your point about his arc is very interesting.

She is good looking for Ann Arbor, but put her in a place where it’s normal for girls to be in great shape and care about appearance and she’s incredibly average. Maybe even a touch below. Wilton doesn’t exactly have the personality to pull hot girls though, so she’s prolly his pinnacle.

Best of luck to him. Seems like he’d be the polar opposite type of QB Kelly would want to run his system, but this is Kelly’s first year and he might need someone other than a true freshman running his offense. Speight does have some mobility and plenty of experience.

Either way, spending a year in sunny LA with Cali girls at one of the best public schools in America isn’t a bad deal either.

with lotsa extra protection.

Man, this seems like a mismatch (unless he's going all-in on the Westwood coeds).

He’s said that he doesn’t value running from a QB as much as accuracy. As for Speight, he leaves with a pretty good record as a starter (14-3 if you count the Purdue game). I wish his career at Michigan hadn’t ended on a dirty hit. Hopefully he’ll do well in LA.

I'm impressed Speight got this offer. I thought he'd end up at Wyoming where he'd be almost sure to start. He will have a tough time earning starts at UCLA.

Chip Kelly and Speight seem like a terrible fit. If you can't run in a Kelly offense you better be really accurate, more accurate than Speight has recently shown. I will definitely be interested to see him play there.

Everyone is missing the even bigger deal here.........

This means Shea Patterson was cleared by the NCAA. Guarantee that's the reason Speight was waiting to announce, because he may have been needed back.
