Michigan is the best team in the country since Feb. 7
I mean, we all knew that already, but here is the confirmation.

Note that our defensive efficiency during that time is better than Virginia's.
(First noted by UMHoops in their recap.)
Can't believe Duke is second. Made me sick to see them right underneath us. Still too soon....
Adjust for quad 1 teams and it looks better - Duke falls to 5th or something like that.
He shot them in high school, I'm almost certain he'll be shooting them here before his time is up. Him as a senior and Castleton as a sophomore will be absolutely incredible. We'll see about Davis lol.
in the game yesterday. Beilein obviously was trying to get another big guy to body up Haas so Teske and Wagner didn't have to do it all. If Davis can make a leap next season, that would be huge for Michigan.
MSU has Jaren Jackson in the same mold but for whatever reason, Izzo refused to play him at the 5 and go small with Miles at PF. Good thing, Izzo hates to go small
It is hard for me to be objective. I keep getting unmitigated emotional highs from this Michigan team. But here we are, and a level-headed math brain guy tells me that my emotions match reality - Michigan is elite! #1 elite!
It's great to be a Michigan Wolverine!
Well . . . it was 25 days ago? That's a nice number.
(Also, it's how long our win streak has lasted.)
That was the day after our loss at NW. Our last loss of the season.
Tell me which team is the "true" Big Ten Champion
MSU: regular season champ. Murdered by Ohio State, Michigan (x2). Beat one team in the top 4 of the conference (Purdue at the buzzer at home), 1-3 combined record. Avoided playing games at Crisler, Nebraska, and Purdue. Only beat 11 of 13 possible teams, never beaten OSU or UM
Michigan: Big Ten Tourney champs. Lost at NW and Nebraska. Beat MSU (x2), OSU, AND Purdue. Combined 4-3 record against the top 4 of the conference (notice 3 more games than MSU played and three more wins). Played AT MSU, OSU, Purdue, Wisconsin, Iowa, Nebraska. Went 3-3 in those games. BEAT ALL 13 TEAMS!!! First team in Big Ten history to accomplish that feat.
Alabama a&m is 351.
We demoralized them.
And it has beaten the No. 2 and No. 8 ranked teams among six wins in the past two weeks.
The significance of this is the fact that when Michigan lost any games this year, after the trip to Hawaii, they twice lost the fourth game in a span of nine days.
They also lost twice in four games to Carolina and Ohio State, perhaps the team's worst loss of the season, after building a huge first half lead and seeing it disappear. Those losses were great learning experiences for this team, which seemed to build character in victory and defeat and performed in New York as a team that could weaather any storm and meet any challenge.
That is the essence of team-building, understanding roles and maximizing strengths while limiting weakenesses.
It was amazing to watch this team play under pressure during the tournament and compete and succeed. This team grew up in front of our eyes and just kept getting better and better. Now, they know they can play and beat anyone. And that is the real testament of their season-long effort.
We've won 11 of 12 actually (since Jan. 29).
Going back to December 9 (the UCLA game), we're 22-4.
There it is...
In the country that has a better system and 5 guys trying harder on both ends of the floor at any given minute of the game. Who's got it better than us? Thanks Coach B!!
GO BLUE!!
It is nice to watch a sport where teams can grow into themselves and overcome early-season struggles while still having a chance at a title. Like, if this was football Michigan would have been 10-2 and playing the best in the country and be relegated to some non-playoff BCS bowl. Instead, they should be one of the favorites to at least make the Final Four.
Is it possible they get a 2 seed? I mean, who really stands out in college basketball right now?
Just checked Bracket Matrix. In their latest update, from 3:40 today - before our game - we're a 4 and Purdue is a 2. Many brackets have us as a 3 and one as a 2 (!). Very interested to see where we'll be after today's result is taken into account.
Note as well that MSU is the last 2 seed now in the Matrix and several brackets have them a 4. We just might knock them out of Detroit.
with the different conference tournaments.
So just sit back and let things play out.
We haven’t had an S bomb in the tournament for many years. Perhaps you are referring to MSU? That would make sense. If you are a Michigan fan... you don't sound like a good one on this post.
In basketball we have not had the best of luck if and when we advance far. Always something happening to screw up or a fluke play etc: Hoping we continue to play hard and finish.
Joe Lunardi must be drunk tonight
After Michigan beat Purdue he moves Purdue to the #1 line in Midwest (Detroit) and slides Michigan to #7 seed in Midwest (Wichita)

EDIT ok i must be drunk that was Feb 3 NOT March 3
but he still has us a 5
would have no overlap.
Other ways to put how good Michigan has been into context -- since our loss to Nebraska, Michigan has been 1-seed:
Or to choose a measure that wasn't created just to make Michigan look good, Torvik has Q-rank (which is supposed to measure how well a team does against tournament quality teams, and I think works by restricting to games against top 50 teams). By this measure, Michigan is also a 1-seed.
