to buy some grace from the inevitable wrath that is still coming.
"If I step aside now, maybe I won't end up in prison with a bunch of other people who are definitely headed there, and soon."

At least one of them were dealt with by Dantonio personally and not reported to police.

Crap man, go to any news source - even foreign news is picking it up.
ESPN is reporting that MSU allegedly swept under the rug multiple rapes and sexual assaults from football/basketball players with the coaches implicated as accommodating the process.

but at this point - thanks to MSU itself - the WORLD is now watching, and having an opinion on if justice is finally going to get served to those who deserve it - for doing it, or for repeatedly covering it up and looking the other way.
Sexual abuse has been a literal global pandemic and hundreds of millions of people today are living each day with what has happended - or is CONTINUING to happen to them. Burning this down with fire is JUSTICE for ALL of those people as well. Someone is finally paying the proper price for looking the other way for far, far too long.
Much of the planet has been screaming in pain and SILENCE for literally ever - and now it is going to openly SCREAM until the right thing is finally done. We are starting to see, for maybe the first time in histoy - a collective broken mass of survivors finally saying - ENOUGH IS FUCKING ENOUGH!

Would a new president and AD really come in and force out two "legends"?
The fact that MSU has a new president and AD in the first place tells you "yes".

I would normally agree with you, but we're living in a time when ( I would say fortunately as a father of 2 teenage girls) those in positions of authority are shitting themselves to either prevent or limit damage from such allegations. I've seen it personally at my workplace.

So between MSU and their insurance carriers will outlay the 100 million or so for the Nassar case.
How are they get anyone to insure them again with Izzo and Dantonio still employed and these allegations hanging over their heads?

in that we need to reexamine the culture. This post has nothing to do with my fandom, I simply quoted what Izzo said. That being said, the system of college athletics is broken in this sense. It's no wonder cases like this occur, because if you rid your team of enough of your players, then the team will start performing poorly, and if the team starts performing poorly, the coaches might get fired and have their multimillion dollar contracts terminated. There's no doubt that this could happen/be happening at any major university, but obviously this case is more relevant to us because of the proximity and history with the involved program.

Good point, but I don't get the sense that most of the people on here are revelling in this whole sad saga. Just hoping that these two are held accountable along with anyone else in a similar position.
