For All Fans Who Want A New OC, Who Did You Have In Mind?

Submitted by Santa Clause on

I keep seeing comments about how Harbaugh needs to go out and find the next Don Brown but for offense. It is my opinion that Don Browns don't grow on trees and are pretty hard to come by. So, is there a specific coach that any of you have in mind or are you all just talking out of your asses?

Somebody who: Has a track record of doing less with more Finds gem recruits, especially quarterbacks Has successfully transitioned a pro style attack to hybrid or more spread oriented Is young enough to keep evolving

When Harbaugh had to replace Durkin, he said he wanted to find the best defense in the country and hire that coordinator. Wouldn't it be fair to say the same about our offense? Has Drevno or Hamilton ever led the best offense in the country as a coordinator?

There is absolutely nothing wrong with our Head Coach. Anyone wanting one is a complete dumbass. The only reason losing hurts so bad is because our expectations have been raised so high. An OC or new offensive line coach is understandable or even a new passing game coordinator I could get behind but come on. And if I have to hear that fat ass Marcus Ray say the word “mentality” again I might jump off a bridge

On Sam’s show, Andy Mignery suggested that he is very confident that Drevno is not going anywhere. He will be on this staff so unless he is getting demoted - I’m not sure we are seeing a change at OC.

And he did not say it was because Drevno was doing a bang-up job. He said it is because Drevno and Harbaugh have been together forever and Drevno is a good guy.

"I expect him back. They are very close friends... He's here to stay. You can mark my words on it."

But where is his place on the staff? Does he stay as an OC? Guess that means Frey stays to coach OL? Do they continue to split the OL? Do we continue to have a Power vs Zone disconnect between our OL coaches?

The OL has been such shit I bet they move Drevno back to OL and boot Frey, and make room for a new OC who is elite fuck and Don Brown's counterpoint.  Bron Down will be his name coming from College of Boston.

By comparison Brady Hoke, in his 3rd year was 7-6 afer going 11-2 and 8-5.  Got worse every year.  Mark Dantonio went 7-6, 9-4, 6-7 then 11-2 his 4th year then won the BT in his 4th year. James Frankil went 7-6, 7-6, 11-3 with a Big Ten  Championship and all the crap that went with Penn State.  Urban Meyer went 12-0 (and could have won the Nat Champ if not for sanctions, 12-2,  14-1 BT and Nat Champs, 12-1, 11-2, 6-1.  His worst yearas a head coach he was 8-5 his last year at FL.

Based on these coaches as recent history and geographically close, it appears year 3 and 4 are the tide turning years.  UM can still go 10-2 but 8-4 is more likely and 7-5 possible.  But next year.......

....will be fired after this season at Texas Tech. Can perhaps pull some talent out of TX for us.  Guy knows offense for sure but not sure if he can adapt to our bounty of TEs that this staff loves so much.

not going to be a popular opinion, but if He didnt hate Michigan so much, and we had hired him instead of Brady - we may have been in the CFP by now. With his ability to recruit with the Michigan Brand it would be nasty - Like alabama Nasty. Tressel protege though so, unlikely it would ever have happened.

He hasn't set the world on fire at LSU, but his offenses at Pittsburg were fun to watch.  And the hiring pitch "How would you like to not work for Ed Orgeron" should be pretty effective.

IMO, they are trying to merge too many concepts that just don't seem to be compatible. Power, zone and a long developing downfield pass game.

I have faith JH will take an objective look in the offseason and make the necassary changes to have a more cohesive and defined identity on O moving forward.

My biggest beef with Drevno is recruiting.  Seems that all of the big recruiting wins were reeled in by Partridge, Jay, or Fisch when he was on staff.
