01/09/2018 - 12:19am Agreed and true for all positions

...including WRs, which some assume we should just write off their Freshman season. Talented players and talented coaches who develop them -it works!

01/03/2018 - 2:09pm Wisconsin may finally...

...have some sort of serious challenge in the B10West. What Frost did while being the head coach of 2 different schools in bowl prep is impressive.

Obviously, he'll redline the game in AA next year as his chance to make an early statement.

01/01/2018 - 4:42pm Penn State is loaded...

..Franklin and staff are recruiting and developing players at a high level. I think they'll be just fine even without Barkley and Moorhead the OC.

11/25/2017 - 4:07pm Perhaps...

...1of 4 staff members not worth 7 figures, best of the high paid staff but I bet we'd dominate Florida , Rutgers and Minnesota etc with quite a few other D coordinators.

11/25/2017 - 3:56pm We need upgrades at both Safety postions...

..particularly in pass defense. Don Brown scheme doesn't hold up well against teams who are semi-competent on offense. Inflated stats against Florida; Rutgers, Minnesota and MSU(who stopped trying on O in pouring rain knowing M couldn't score)

11/24/2017 - 3:57pm With a true frosh QB making 1st start...

...Narduzzi has now beat 2 Top 5 teams in his tenure, won @ Clemson prior. Overall record is meh but impressive upsets.

11/18/2017 - 4:34pm Peters did well...

...fumble on goal line of course stunk and some late throws but love his mobility and decisions overall. If he can make it upright into next season we may have a decent QB on our hands.

11/18/2017 - 4:21pm Bingo...

I'd rather lose to Purdue every now and then than lose to OSU every year. Just ask John Cooper.(not saying Harbaugh is leaving)

11/18/2017 - 4:09pm This was the big chance...

..we match up well against Wisconsin's style. Not so much against better spread teams with athletes who target our LBs and Safeties in coverage.

11/18/2017 - 4:01pm Yes and they'll be tested...

@ ND @ MSU @ OSU, all of whom will likely be Top 10 to start season. (All young teams)

11/11/2017 - 6:26pm Kinnel is a liability

...in pass coverage.5th string qb wow.

10/23/2017 - 12:22pm Kliff Kingsbury....

....will be fired after this season at Texas Tech. Can perhaps pull some talent out of TX for us.  Guy knows offense for sure but not sure if he can adapt to our bounty of TEs that this staff loves so much.

10/22/2017 - 11:56am Next year we are.. .

@ND @ MSU @OSU. So, regardless of talent/experience it would be optimistic to win 2 out of those 3. Given we don't seem to have a solid OT in the wings (perhaps Filaga?) no playmakers at RB(perhaps Samuels emerges?) And who knows what at QB, I'm cautious about year 4 as well.Year 5, Year 6?...

10/07/2017 - 11:54pm Agreed...

..he has a cool name and ran jet sweeps that stopped working and that's about it. Not a receiving threat at all, whatever his 40 yard dash is.

10/07/2017 - 11:46pm I think our backs are....

...just kinda limited regardless, we don't have anyone a defense must account for. Evans has some nice jukes from time to time but if you get a hand on him he goes down. Isaac is is just a guy and I think Higdon is perhaps our most consistent. None is a factor in the passing game and all are just OK at blocking. It would've been the same with Wheatley as the coach IMO.

10/07/2017 - 11:40pm We can be thankful that..

...Harbaugh has coached against McElwain and Nussmeier twice. This has inflated the record against Top 25 opponents.

10/07/2017 - 11:39pm We can be thankful that..

...Harbaugh has coached against McElwain and Nussmeier twice. This has inflated our record against Top 25 opponents.

10/07/2017 - 11:23pm 10million a year and...

1-4 in rivalry games thus far.

09/23/2017 - 7:58pm want hear and dont want to hear from Harbaugh

Want to hear: 'Wilton Speight is OK,xrays came out well'
Don't want to hear:'we're forging ahead with Wilton as our starting Qb'

09/18/2017 - 11:39am Calhoun was somebody I...

...hoped we looked at when searching for a coach if Harbaugh wasn't coming. Has pro experience and has the resume to run a pro-style offense. His coaching acumen was on full display against us with their schemes.

09/16/2017 - 3:58pm Agreed in the sense that...

Harbaugh had his chance in 2015 and handpicked Peters, who enrolled early and has been through 2 camps and can't crack 3rd string. He also 'chose' John O Korn, from which there may have been other transfer options available. Not sure who else we could've got or were in the running for but each at this point seems like a misstep.

09/16/2017 - 2:10pm Isaac getting arm tackled...

...2 plays in a row, going to back to Isaac of yesteryear on those

09/16/2017 - 2:09pm Isaac getting arm tackled...

...2 plays in a row, going to back to Isaac of yesteryear on those

09/16/2017 - 2:02pm It's becoming apparent that...

...Florida is even worse than we thought. Really really really bad....

09/16/2017 - 1:42pm Seems McCaffrey may be....

...the QB hope for next year? Peters was handpicked by Harbaugh, enrolled early and has been through 2 camps and still can't crack 3rd string. Agreed on Drevno, time for more scrutiny on him.

09/11/2017 - 7:03pm Hurst "assumes" he's getting death threats.....

You can Control F 'assume' to find the nugget that 247 left out: https://www.landof10.com/michigan/michigan-coach-jim-harbaugh-wiltons-s…

I believe MGOBlog identified the O'Neill death threats to come from 12 yr old kids as mentioned above in previous comments.

09/09/2017 - 5:23pm I wonder about this too...

..whoever it is they're channeling Mike Debord.

09/09/2017 - 5:16pm I had to rub my eyes....

..saw Pep and Drevno in the booth and thought it was 2 Mike Debords'. Bizarre play calling. Get a good gain on a run then it turns into Air Speight? Odd wheel route to Khalid Hill who they also targeted way too much in FL game and list goes on but I'll just be happy and eat my pizza for now.

09/09/2017 - 3:35pm Bizarro World....

...bizarre playcalling, no offensive rythym,2 pick 6s, we're Florida! Oh the horror!

09/09/2017 - 3:28pm Glad Fickell is...

...playing for moral victories. The way this game is going I was nervous the Yb were going for it, why they didn't is beyond me but I'm glad. Let's get a td for style points and get the heck out of here.

09/09/2017 - 3:10pm Agreed for now...

...DPJ was getting to risky. Some coaching on risk management and he'll get another shot soon I bet.

09/09/2017 - 3:01pm We refuse..

..to run the ball 2 times in a row. Get a nice gain with a run and we get all Texas Tech. Run it please!

09/09/2017 - 1:57pm Lot less Evans...

...much more Isaac. Wish we'd have some sort of RB screens or get them involved in the pass game. WRs don't seem to be getting much separation. I don't think we have a RB reception yet this year?

09/04/2017 - 12:26pm I may be wrong but..

..it seemed Hill was just so so in coverage. The 15' MSU game with the Fullback wheel route is perhaps tainting my view on his entire body of work. (If that was him who blew it) A 3rd round pick in a pass happy league must mean he graded out OK. Either way, I like Metellus.

09/04/2017 - 11:30am Agreed...

Kinnel and Metellus are upgrades, Metellus particularly in coverage compared to Hill, who was a 4th round pick and Kinnel in terms of run support/blitzing vs Wilson.

09/04/2017 - 11:09am It'll come down to QB play..

.. the RT situation will iron itself out. First start against Florida Dline is learning to swim in the deep end, Ulizio won't face anything that intense until Penn State.
However, Speight is the best QB on this team and I feel has hit a ceiling. Not sure if that plateau is enough.(hope so)Had a chance in 16' class but apparently Peters isn't a college ready starter after enrolling early and 2 camps.

09/03/2017 - 3:29pm He may have....

plateaued. I agree that translates to average but subjective of course. Recurring issues with accuracy, his decisions are decent but the ball doesn't go where he wants it to. Even the deep ball completions are rarely in stride. Eubanks scores if he leads him. All that said, he's the best we have at this moment.(sigh)

09/03/2017 - 3:22pm 1 possible and 1 definite

Speight has perhaps plateaued. Great pocket awareness but the ball just doesn't go where he wants it to in some critical situations. We could've said the same thing 1 year ago. The Crawford miss on the wide open td was the same as missing Chesson against FSU or other instances from last year.
That being said, there's no QB controversy IMO and he's the best QB on the roster at this moment.

01/02/2017 - 12:26pm Accuracy

Great pocket presence and goes through progressions but simply lacks consistent accuracy IMO. Experience counts but remains to be seen if it makes up for inaccuracy on downfield throws. Hits the dink and dunk stuff just fine. I know nothing about Peters and his accuracy but the door could be open wider than some think.

12/06/2016 - 11:35am Self Fulfilling Prophecy

Paranoid me is worried about reporters regularly speculating/asking the players if they're disappointed about the Orange Bowl and if they're motivated to play etc.

Just how disappointing was this weekend? Were you disappointed?

Visions of Florida against us last year or our sleepwalking against K-State a few years ago come to mind. (granted K-State bowl was low tier)

This is still a huge game and I'm hopeful the Seniors go in with the enthusiasm unknown to mankind.

11/26/2016 - 9:36pm Agreed...

...it came down to making just 1 more play on either side of the ball. If Darboh makes a tough catch on the 3rd down pass behind him late in the 4th we win IMO. Later, if the D can make just 1 more play and take down Samuel in the backfield forcing a 40 plus yard field goal, I get the feeling their kicker Durbin misses another and we win.

11/13/2016 - 10:41am I do thank Ferentz though....

Ferentz did approve Rudock transferring to Michigan last year, which I believe he has to 'OK' to happen.(?) Other coaches may have been petty and nixed an interconference transfer. We wouldn't have won 10 games last year with the other available quarterbacks on the roster at that time IMO.

11/13/2016 - 10:31am Venting and Hyperbole

The Peppers Wildcat formation hasn't been working since the Rutgers game. He needs to actually hand it off or for once throw it. Earlier in the year he would hand off and the backs were getting nice yardage. He's just keeping it everytime regardless of the read and getting nada.
Whomever replaces McCray and Kalis next year will likely be an upgrade.
The Speight being the best deep ball thrower comment is trending towards Fred Jackson status.

10/29/2016 - 4:42pm Agreed...

..and/or Jabrill throw it. Rumor has it he can indeed throw and that WR would be wiidddde open I bet.

10/29/2016 - 4:09pm No Mas' Shane Morris packages

No more Shane Morris packages. Credit to him for sticking with the program though. The 2 Bens seems like a big upgrade. More Higdon too please!

10/29/2016 - 3:58pm I'm much more worried about....

...playing at Iowa at night then I was to start the day. Rivalry games are always tricky but the D was carved up a bit, especially in the running game. Charlton wasn't holding the edge, McCray was whiffin and even Jourdan was a bit off. Stiffened when we needed to though.I should be happier at 8andO and #2.

11/30/2015 - 11:31am Agreed, Texas makes sense

..for him, I believe a lot of the Texans on OSU are notches in his dashboard. OSU would be a turn-key opportunity for him, whereas Texas would be a rebuild.

Houston played on Friday and I'd bet Hermann was somehow in the ears of Meyer and Warinner during the game.

11/30/2015 - 11:26am That's another aspect of Meyer...

..he's a College coach through and through.  I don't believe he's ever been connected with an NFL opening.

11/30/2015 - 11:17am Agreed...

..lots of attractive candidates but outside of Saban, Meyer and our coach-not too many confirmed difference makers at a Power 5 Conf level-you're rolling the dice on almost anyone.

IMO Hermann and Narduzzi will bide their time as logical heir apparents at OSU/MSU. Dantonio is 60 and Meyer historically doesn't stick around too long.
