Danny Kannell fired POSBANG

A big cheers to never seeing his stupid turtleneck and blazer wearing self on the football Saturday airwaves again.
Seriously, WTF?!?
Can we please start banning people who see fit to just blithely ignore the rules against politics, religion, etc.?
I have lots of HAWT takes about religion that I would just LOVE to share with you all but I can actually read, understand and, most importantly, follow rules.
No, we're only allowed to do that if they diss *liberal* politicians.
A lot of information in which you have little to no knowledge about. I do not think Peppers faked any injury to skip out of the bowl game. Peppers may or may not have had something in his system, I'd imagine no one on this blog can say for absolute certainty he did or did not. I think he has a valid excuse for why his sample was diluted, but cramping is a common problem and keeping very hydrated is something a lot of athletes at the combine do and yet a diluted sample is not very common. I don't think Peppers had anything to hide, but I absolutely do not know for certain. Also, if you think for a fraction of a second that NFL teams and scouts take what Danny Kannell says on the radio or on twitter as gospel and drops Peppers of their board because of his comments, you are simply delusional. Lastly , "Nobody in any profession should be able to use the platform they are given by their employer to negatively impact another person's employment/life without proper evidence behind their claims", I completely agree and wish that was the case in every profession, but it sadly isn't. Danny Kannell is an asshole and was let go in a firesale of ESPN employees. That is really too bad because I would have rather seen him go by saying something on the air that got him fired, which was bound to happen sooner or later.
Not when it's stated as a FACT.
i agree that it is a bad look, but that's part of his job. I highly doubt an NFL GM/owner will make a decision based on some talking head on a mid-afternoon radio show tho.
Whether it was effective slander or not is irrelevant. It was slander based on zero evidence.
slander is spoken. libel is written.
J.Jonah Jameson as played by J.K. Simmons approves this message.
Perhaps. Some of his comments were definitely in poor taste.
This is not endemic to Michigan fans, but seriously, people need thicker skins. There is no need to throw hissy fits over every Kannell or Finebaum comment. We are not charged with defending the honor of Michigan football. It will thrive regardless of the occasional d-bag comment.
I didn't say anybody needs to defend them either. It's the fact that people are actually celebrating a layoff.
You've never had a job where someone obviously wasn't doing their job and weren't a little happy they got fired? C'mon man.
He wasn't fired. He was laid off. Big difference.
No, I don't celebrate firings. His job was provide "analysis" or more aptly hot takes to generate more eyes on the television. He, along with Finebaum, are obvious trolls.
His take on Jabrill Peppers was out of line, and if I were him, I would apologize. He also deserves criticism for those particular comments about Peppers. However, he didn't cost Jabrill any money whatsoever as teams are well aware of the context and what a diluted sample actually means.
All the celebrating and literally childish hissy fits over anything trollish literally just feeds more trollish behavior.

I think that's true in regards to serious criticisms of legit negative comments. BUt some of the stuff that the talking heads put out is just garbage for the purpose of getting attention or clicks or retweets or whatever. See also Bayless, Skip. Some of these analysts are really just trolls who happen to be (marginal) sports figure who are given a bigger platform to spew bullshit. So for them, I have no concern if their discussions turn into dumb smack talk since I dont think they were really trying to have a serious conversation in the first place.
I agree. There is a lot of room to criticize, but I feel fans (not just Michigan fans) take a team's honor too serously rather than just recognizing what the trolls are trying to do.

Hopefully he goes back to managing that Dairy Queen in Topeka.
I think best case scenario is to manage a Cinnabon in Omaha
It's the offseason. This is just as relevant to anything as any of the other threads currently on the MGoBoard.
Galations 6:7
dude is unemployed, married and 3 kids. a posbang for that?
some good natured humor, sure, but a posbang?
Dude is also a former NFL player, so the whole money thing doesn't really get sympathy from me. He made millions playing a game, and if he doesn't have any money left from that, it is his fault.
He had an 8 year NFL career and 8 years as an on-air ESPN personality. He and his family will be just fine personally, however the college football media has benifited from some addition by subtraction today.
He's also incompetent and likely a liar, so yes, we should celebrate his layoff. Also,
LOL
Dude signed a $10 million contract with the GIants at one point and has undoubtedly been making bank in media. He may be unemployed but he's not at risk of sleeping under a bridge or something.
I don't think I've seen a non-ironic use of the "think of the children" argument in fifteen years.
I won't forget when Danny was pleading for Michigan to start Shane Morris in 2015 when we were like 4-1. Saying Jim Harbaugh was wasting a future star on the bench by starting Rudock.
Stupid to celebrate a layoff.
errr...Seminole?
That is exactly what I assumed you did :)
Sometimes when you throw stuff at the universe, it throws the stuff right back. It's not right to celebrate Kannell being losing his job, but it's certainly right to point out he did nothing to prove he deserved it.
You are confusing sports with things that matter.
