Doesn't he have to sit out a year?

Gibson first must take classes at Cincinnati State Community College, according to ESPN, before possibly becoming eligible to play for the Bearcats in time for the 2017 season.

He was suspended for the year and didn't enroll. He's not a typical transfer. If attends a Juco now, he'll be a transfer from there.

And Johnny Manziel 2.0 is about to come in and pass him as well.
Wouldn't shock me if they tried to move him to WR and he was like "I'm out."

He can't throw downfield like Johnny Football. He's a smaller J.T. Barrett and won't get any QB development at OSU.
January 12th, 2017 at 2:04 PM ^
Yeah and he's like a 5'9" little butter ball. Quick but he'll get killed in college.
January 12th, 2017 at 4:37 PM ^
He...won't get any QB development at OSU.
This is why they got rid of Tim Beck and hired Ryan Day.

If he is going to be like Manziel there needs to be cocaine connected to the end of that dollar.

I kind of hope he does. There is something about that guy that makes me want to see him get smashed.
January 13th, 2017 at 8:44 AM ^
Just one Rashan Gary hit, that's all I ask.
January 12th, 2017 at 1:18 PM ^
They moved him to WR before he even got to campus. Turns out he's never going to play WR at OSU either.

He was an early enrollee and the player suspended before the season started by the school. Urban complained saying he didn't feel that the school should suspend him like that.
Gibson had talked about taking an upskirt shot of a study table tutor when the girl wasn't aware and sending it around it friend. That was the reason for the suspension.

... I hate that programs are becoming football factories that are basically an up or out model.

Michigan has turn over too, but it is nice to see guys like Shane Morris stay till they get their degree because they love the school and they came to play school in addition to football. When players are essentially fired/pushed out it makes a good argument for paying players. (Which I normally am opposed to beyond the stipend and tuition.)
January 12th, 2017 at 1:14 PM ^
a high turnover program, especially the last few years. I wonder how many of their players end up getting a degree there?
January 12th, 2017 at 5:40 PM ^
they don't go there to play school.

Ohio State players are not students, they are mercenaries.
That's the biggest difference between Ohio State and Michigan.
Let's not kid ourselves, most Michigan players are not typical students . . . they take easy classes and they get lots of help. But they are still students.
Ohio State does not even pretend. It's just a place to hang out for the minimum amount of time until you can jump to the pros. There is no connection to the school and therefore no loyalty.

Although he was not projected to play QB there, what is their QB depth chart looking like after JT?
I saw that they recruited a 5-11 kid out of Vegas.

They also nabbed Dwayne Haskins away from Maryland at the end of last cycle.
January 12th, 2017 at 1:21 PM ^
They have Dwayne Haskins and Joe Burrows, but both were considered "pro style" coming out of HS.
January 12th, 2017 at 1:50 PM ^
Joe Burrow is actually a dual threat. Haskins is pro-style.

Maybe stop being a dick to other team's fans who aren't themselves being dicks?
January 12th, 2017 at 2:02 PM ^
It will probably be Barrett, Haskins, and Burrow next year with Tate Martell as a wild card.

I live in Cincy. Good pick up for the Bearcats.

I lived in Cincy for 15 of my formative years. Cincinnati chili was nectar of the gods growing up. Granted, tastes may change as an adult, but it will always be a wonderful memory of my youth. Here's a hint: Cincinnati chili was created by Greek immigrants and is really just the sauce that goes in moussaka.

It's the cinnamon that makes it.

The key is to be drunk at 2:00 AM. Then it is the absolute best thing ever invented.

Isn't he the one that got kicked out of school last year? That hardly seems like a transfer.

Yes, Torrance Gibson was suspended for a whole year on a university level. Gibson's infraction was never publicized, but the coaches were not happy about it. As for the infraction? Nothing was ever confirmed, but IF the rumor on campus were true then Gibson got caught plagiarizing on a paper.
I served as a student representative on my college's academic hearing committee, and usually the severity of the punishment depended on the student's prior history, the degree of plagiarism, and the student's awareness of the infraction. If it was an honest mistake, and the student just forgot to cite something, the punishment could have been as mild as a 0 on the assignment. If it could be proven (extremely hard to do) that the student blatantly cheated, then it was almost always immediate explusion. More often than not, the punishment was in the middle where the student recieved a 0, and put on academic probation for the rest of their time at the college, meaning any more infractions no matter how minor almost always escalated to explusion.
Whatever the crime, Urban and the coaches thought that a year long suspension from the university was overly heavy-handed. I'm guessing they thought at worst, Gibson should have been put on academic probation.

This could cut both ways. Yes, they lose a potential future contributor, so yay. On the other hand, if he was suspended for a year and switching to WR, then he may never have contributed much at all, and now he opens up a spot for Urban to take another 7* player, the way he is recruiting.
