Leaders And Best

February 2012 saw the commitments of Jourdan Lewis, Taco Charlton, Khalid Hill, & Jake Butt. Two All-Americans & 3 All-Big Ten players. Gareon Conley, Mike McCray, and DeVeon Smith committed in early March 2012. Ben Gedeon in April 2012.

And I wouldn't close the book on those guys yet, especially Kugler who played a little this year.

2013 defense recruits: Jourdan Lewis, Taco Charlton, Ben Gedeon, Channing Stribling, Delano Hill, Dymonte Thomas, Maurice Hurst, & Mike McCray. And that is leaving out Gareon Conley who was committed for most of the year until Urban Meyer showed up.

The 2013 offense was pretty rough outside of Jake Butt unfortunately. Also included De'Veon Smith & Khalid Hill. Such a huge contrast between the success on defense vs the non-contributors/transfers on offense.

2013 offense: Shane Morris, Derrick Green, Patrick Kugler, Kyle Bosch, Logan Tuley-Tillman, David Dawson, Chris Fox, Henry Poggi, Wyatt Shallman, Jaron Dukes, Csont'e York, Da'Mario Jones, Dan Samuelson

Looking at 24/7 Crystal Ball picks:

DPJ - 93%

Black - 95%

Wilson - 76%

Ruiz - 100%

Multiply them all together and you get 67.1%

If you look at the 24/7 prediction graph, you get this:

DPJ - 80%

Black - 90%

Wilson - 70%

Ruiz - 95%

Multiply them all together and you get 47.9%

So somewhere between 48% and 67% - sounds about right!

That math is only accurate if you assume each committment is an independent event.  If there are positive (or negative) relationships between the committments, then the chances could be higher (or lower.)  Since these are mostly different positions, I don't think there would be any negative relationshios.  But if getting one recruit excites a later recruit or if the spacing of the announcement dates were planned, then there would be positive relationships.

at this point I tend to think it is not a coincidence.  This is Harbaugh and the recruits looking to dominate a whole week of the news cycle (I hope).

This week will be huge (assuming all of these fall in favor of the good guys) not only for the current class ranking, but the momentum that this creates at a perfect time for the stretch run up to signing day. Still holding out hope that there is another name or two that we aren't even talking about yet, that ends up in the class at the last minute like last year.

The only other school I imagine could be a threat here is UGA since he just had an official there this weekend, but I feel like our chances here are very good. It'll be interesting to see what the insiders have to say about this one.
