Interactions with Buckeyes this week

Submitted by Real and Spectacular on
Curious to hear what the interactions have been with OSU fans this week. My companies rep from Toledo was talking an incredible amount of smack before the game to me, was dead silent during the game, and then proceeded to rub it in immediately after. When I pointed out the officiating I was met with crybaby taunts and claims that OSU had just as many bad calls go against them. I was furious. I'm not sure why I expected any different but I thought even a Buckeye fan would admit they stole that one. Curious to hear from others on this.

My approach was to say:

1) Despite the score I feel we are the better team.

2) They got significant help from refs.  If called even we win by 10.

3) I really hope to get them in playoffs because they will not escape again.

I am not taking crap . . . We lost the game more than they (and the refs) won it.

It was funny that the OSU guy asked me if I am still happy with Harbaugh?  He thinks we are now mad at him.  I attribute that to wishful thinking.

Don't make fun of truck drivers! I know we like to diss Ohio State, but those are decent paying jobs that don't require a lot of education or training.  Those jobs are the only options for a lot of people in this country, especially in areas where you-know-who just won.  Self-driving trucks are about to make those history too and then those people are really screwed.

My interaction with Buckeye fans actually wasn't too different this week than it was any other week. I mean, my McDonald's combo meal was a little light on fries but that's about it.

I live in Ohio and have delt with Buckeyes fans since I was 8 years old. a year ago I changed jobs and decided that no one at the new job would know that I even like sports. Mondays are great now. No more idiots to deal with. Best decision I've ever made.

All the buckeyes I know are in-laws, so they tend to take it easy on the ribbing.  They have all said that they think Michigan deserves the fourth spot in the playoffs.

Out of the approximately 5 Buckeye friends that I have, only one commented and said that we played really well. I know that was a sincere comment since that person's not one of the stereotypical nuts that loves rubbing it in (one of those 5 Ohio State friends, unfortunately, is and I've had to unfollow him because it got to the point that he had no life outside of rubbing in the Ohio State factor even when it had nothing to do with whatever we would be talking about).

He said in week 5 that our Speight wasn't good enough to beat the Buckeyes and they would roll. I think it was more confidence in their D, than M's offense. No reply though when I mentioned officiating throughout the game (not just the spot) and that Price was a turnstile.

Talking crap to other fans is something I've never really understood.  You played no part in the result, so why are you bragging about it?

Honestly, mostly positive. There's only one Buckeye I regularly interact with and he maintains that Michigan is a top 4 team in the country (saying the performance in Columbus proves it). I went down to the game Sat. and for the most part, everyone was incredibly nice. Almost too nice to where it was eerie. Had a student body check one of us in our group, flip us off, and give us a nice "Fuck Michigan" and had a few people shout "Booo!" as we walked by, but other than that it was a nice trip overall.

I work at a church, so it's a little different and much more good natured ribbing I receive. This week most were ready to admit the officiating was subpar, mostly because I was willing to admit that...I don't know, I live in Ohio and I'm not going to pick a fight over how bad the officiating really was because in the grand scheme it doesn't matter? They admit there was bad officiating but still accept the result, so I guess that's what I have to do too

I have no interaction with OSU fans here... I have cut off commenting on social media about it because I have insufferable OSU fans as friends (being from Ohio) and they see it as they beat the crap out of us!

I rewatched the PI on Grant Perry in 2OT and nearly broke my computer...

My one friend is an osu fan and we were texting during the game and he even admitted that the refs were bad and missed a lot of calls for us. Likewise, after the game he thought that it was disappointing that anyone had to lose the game and. thought that whoever Michigan plays in bowl game will crush. It was refreshing to hear because he wasn't totally bias.

His wife is from Columbus and bleeds scarlet and grey.  I once had to come in Saturday morning and he was sitting in my office in a buckeye shirt.  He saw my look of disgust and never really brought up the subject of a rivalry again.  I used to motivate my paralegals with Bo quotes and most football seasons I mark the schedule I put in everyone's office with W/L for last Saturday's game when I come in Monday so they know what kind of mood I will be in that day.

This particular week he is avoiding me like an STD and no doubt he knows why.

although no alums.

I've had to deal with goading since Monday.  Absolutely classless fan base.

Most blame Harbaugh for costing us the game (whatever).

We had a small bet before the game but there was absolutley no shit talking on either side beforehand, during, or immediately afterward.

On Sunday we talked briefly on the phone before I saw her, I simply congragulated her asked if she had a good time and we lightly argued about officiating (her cousin in the background called me a whambulance)

When we finally saw each other later in the afternoon I asked her how her weekend was and she immediatley dived into her experience at the Game, celebrating, etc and then she said something backhandedly that infuriated me 'Look how far your program has come!"

Needless to say we immediatley got in a very heated arguement about the game and officiating... after she made that comment I became RELENTESS in providing all counter evidence to the LEGITIMACY of OSU's victory...

By Monday morning she admitted - I have Text Message proof - That the Spot was short and Michigan got fucked.

Me: Sent Image that clearly Shows The Spot is Short

Her Response: Sends distored photoshopped images from the Buck Eyes

Me: There's No Proof In Your Images

Me: The Image I sent you is on the 15 yard line and accurate, are you blind?

Me: Obviously Home Cookin'

Me: 2 OSU fans as officials is a disgrace to fairness and integrity

Her: OK OK I'll Concede

Her: Thought I'd make one last attempt but he prob didn't have it and I'll admit it. I'm sorry.

A superior of mine is a big OSU fan. He admits the game was terribly officiated and we have had some good conversations about the game. He is obviously happy with the outcome but he at least agrees the refs were terrible.

My OSU friend was pretty decent but he's a good guy in general. Arrogant but who wouldn't be after winning 99/100.
He basically chalked it up as home field advantage.
My MSU friends were trolling hard. One in particular was 100% sure it wasn't a first down and basically said the PI non-calls were just football. Also, that Jourdan Lewis has mad a living out of doing the same thing.
He then proceeded to berate Harbaugh..said he looks like a douche yelling and screaming at refs all the time. He said basically it's better to yell at your players than the refs. ("Like Brian Kelly!?") Said he has no respect for him.
I said " yelling and screaming ... like Izzo.. or was it different in some way!?"
Totally a Sparty homer. Knows nothing about football but yet figured out why we lost. Had nothing to do with the refs. But rather Ohio state baiting the QB into throwing interceptions.

You can tell them about the crappy officials and calls, but they don't listen.  You can show them articles about the crappy officials and calls, but they can't read.  You can show them photos/videos of the crappy calls, but they see nothing.

I have determined with empirical evidence that Buckeyes are deaf, dumb and blind.

I can't avoid all of them. The ones I can avoid, I'm avoiding, though.

Side note: my dad ran into Dhani Jones yesterday downtown; FWIW, Dhani thinks we were jobbed. And who the hell's gonna argue with a guy in a bow tie?

Some twitter spats with OSU fans complaining about Jabrill Peppers winning B1G LBotY award. Are you fucking kidding me? Go ahead, give Raekwon McMillin the award and give us The Game, if it means so fucking much to you.

I sat down at a random Chicago restaurant for lunch just as two people were leaving their booth.  The first thing I hear, "well, they beat Michigan, so that's all I care about."  Exuent.

I went to the Thirsty Lion in Portland OR for a M Alumni watch party with my older brother. The place is packed at 8:30 am with Maize and Blue people. One POS was there wearing his Buckeye gear. During the game, when people were giving him grief, he kept yelling Michigan fans stay classy. I am thinking to myself why be classy to this clown when he is being an ass hole even stepping in a bar that is packed with Michigan alumni like me. Well at the end of the 2nd OT he is going nuts. I went to the can and walked by him right when he was yelling. I lost it and shouted right in his face: FUCK YOU!! I grabbed his Suckeye jersey from his chair and started walking to the bathroom. He tried to take me down from behind but a bunch of folks and my brother came to my defense and the bouncer told him to take off. He was whining about how I was stealing his jersey. I left after that with no more interaction. I am fucking 60 years old and I know what I did was wrong but I just lost it at the end of that game with this guy going nuts, yelling and celebrating. I have not been in a fight since 5th grade and I probably would have got pounded. But WTF was this ass clown doing at a M alumni watch party. And this will sound even more petty to some, but this in Portland and we brew some of the best beer in the world here in my opinion. And this Buckeye ass clown was drinking Miller light in a can during the game. Even though I know I was wrong, Fuck this ass clown and fuck the Suckeyes.
