Has stuck in my craw and will not go away because of the old, "people get what they deserve" bullshit...No, people get what they get because that's what they got. Sure, in alot of cases some people deserve what they get and some get what they deserve. Dennard never deserved this he was just the face of Michigan football and the worst part is they say we play dirty. You have never seen a Michigan player do something like this to a Sparty and you never will.

While nothing justified the twisting of Robinson's head, at least there was some basis for claiming Lewan wasn't the nicest fellow out on the grid iron.

What was worse is the completely invented story that a Lewan racial slur is what prompted Gholston to punch him.  The claim was started by a poster on RCMB.  Eventually the mods there told him to cut it out since it was just a completely fabricated story, but that never slowed anything down (and ever since that one comment by the mods, they just let the lie continue to be repeated.  The idiots there know the story is false, but if Lewan's name ever comes up, there's still a half dozen or more posters using various labels to claim he's racist.

That and 'Walverine' and its ilk.

Sparty logic used to go something like, Michigan fans are bad because they have no connection to Michigan, and all those riots and couch-burning parties that take place outside student apartments are just a bunch of "troublemakers from outside the community."

Let's not forget their standard bearer family, the Bulloughs, who seem to be trying to out do each other in the targetting ejection department. Riley Bullough really had a standout performance last week, with three personal fouls and an ejection in the first 11 minutes.

I don't respect them. I know that's their whole mantra now, but I hate MSU because they're not a respectable institution in any way, and yet, somehow, people in this state still root for them.

I respect OSU. I hate them, but I respect them. They have history, they're are consistently good, they are not a shit academic institution.

This is not the case with MSU. They are a bad school. They are a generally bad football program that rises up for half a decade every 30 years and all their built up bufoonery unleashes itself on the world. They exist only as trolls. They are dumb hicks who wouldn't know tradition if it bit them in the ass. They're not just little brother, they are your little brother that doesn't go to college, then makes fun of you for going to college, ends up living in a trailer, wins a small amount in the lottery every once in a while and rubs it in your face, even though they're still the one living in the trash heap.

Any of Mork's subtle or not subtle jabs at us. Naming the punt fumble "Rangers" like he dialed it up from the sideline or ran the damn ball in himself, such a douche.

Anytime Michigan is brought into a conversation by Staee fans about how Staee has played in the past or is currently playing. Like somehow, nobody can have an honest opinion of another team's performance if they have been beaten by said team. Over it.

Their player's and fanbase constantly talking about being underdogs, even when favored.

Their fans constantly talking about their spectactular season which involved 4 near losses and then the blowout to Alabama and not admitting that this is the best they will ever be.

Connor Cook, enough said.

Their fans who said "we hate Michigan fans because of x,y, and z." Then proceeded to do x,y, and z once they became dominant in the rivalry.

For anyone who uses the term "WalMart Wolverine", grow the heck up, like nobody cheers for Staee who didn't go to school there. Also, for anyone who cheers for Staee because they "hate Michigan" ok, cool brah!

I could go on and on, Harbaugh needs to nuke that whole football program so that Bobby Williams gets punched in the balls again all the way back in 02.

I had a waitress in Austin, TX give me shit for being a Michigan fan. She was from Michigan and finds out I'm also from Michigan, and we have a nice conversation. When she finds out I cheer for Michigan, she gives me this sour look and acts disgusted, is visibly angry. I didn't say anything at all that would be controversial, didn't insult MSU or anything. I'm guessing she spit in my food. Generally, when I'm out of B1G country, I'm welcoming to any and every B1G I meet, and as important as Michigan athletics is to me, I've never gone out of my way to be a dick to someone regarding it. It's just so confusing.

The smugness of Dantonio and how cocky their players/fans have gotten over the years.

The fact that I live in Michigan and am a constant huge target for sparty coworkers as my desk in decked out in UofM gear.  Also, I'm the biggest Michigan fan any of my friends know which also means I hear it all year from my sparty grad friends as well.

This game is personal for me.  F what any of them say, this game IS about re-establishing Michigan as the dominant program in this state. Sure, one win won't do that completely but it's a start.

Taking back the state of Michigan is an essential step in our rise back to prominence.

Getting a Christmas card in 2001 from friends of ours who were (and still are) perhaps the most Sparty people we know, with a picture of the :01 scoreboard on the front.

I'll give 'em credit, they had like 10 MSU season tickets all the way through the dark ages and were completely unapologetic and accepting about how awful their program got (I think they ended up dumping a bunch of their tickets after a while), but getting that card was a total kick in the nuts.

I've never found the desire to make an actual effort to talk shit to someone in Ann Arbor wearing the opposing colors-I'm either friendly or simply indifferent. This mindset has never permeated into East Lansing or Columbus.

I went to the 2009 game in EL with a couple friends, and one of them bought a ticket on Craigslist or something and had to go pick it up from the seller in a student neighborhood somewhere. It was raining that morning, so I'm wearing a raincoat, that standard yellow raincoat everyone has. I think I had the hood up, wasn't even wearing visible Michigan stuff. Yet  as we're walking up the sidewalk some drunk Sparty kid comes running after us, yelling at me about being a Wal-Mart Wolverine.

The sight of yellow sends these people into a frenzy. It's bizarre.

I grew up in East Lansing and worked for special events at Spartan Stadium to make some money as an usher. The night of the MSU - ND fake FG game I was wearing a dark blue northface jacket because it was cold and we were required to wear black or navy blue as ushers. No Michigan or ND logos on it, just a regular jacket. After the game, on my walk back to my car, a group of MSU fans come up to me and dump beer on me and say "fuck Notre Dame!"

When crossing Adam's Field (acorss the Red Cedar from the football stadium) an old white couple walking in front of me say "Great, now I just hope we can break that ni**er Denard's leg in a couple of weeks."

People can say Michigan fans are entitled, arrogant, and stuck up. But MSU fans are some of the lowest people I have ever met. I was 18, working to make money FOR MSU, and I get cold beer dumped on me for my nice, long, cold walk back to my car. Fuck you MSU fans. Seriously, fuck you.

I was in a bar during the latter Rich Rod years and Michigan just lost another game and MSU probably won some so-so game as well. I had my Michigan jacket on, like I always do, and some woman in her late 60s comes up to me and says, "are you a Michigan fan?". Of course I replied, "yes". She then responded with a smile, "I'm sorry". I then noticed she had some MSU paraphernalia on.

For some reason her snide little comment set off a fire inside me that will never be extinguished. I never give opposing fan bases shit. But for this old bitch to come up to me and try to rub some salt in the wound instilled a hate for those assholes like you wouldn't fucking believe. I hope we hang 100 on those assholes while they lay an egg. I hope it happens every year from now until eternity.

"Where's the threat"

"60 minutes of unecessary roughness"

"Where'd all those Wolverines go?"

"Were not selling hope here, we're selling results."

"I find a lot of the things they do amusing. They need to check themselves sometimes. Let's just remember, pride comes before the fall. ... They want to mock us, I'm telling them, it's not over. They want to print that crap all over their locker room, it's not over and it'll never be over here. It's just starting. ... I'm very proud of our football team, and I'm very proud of the way our football team handled themselves after the game as well. You don't have to disrespect people. If they want to make a mockery of it, so be it. Their time will come."

1. "Where's the threat?"

2. "Pride comes before the fall."

3. "Where'd all those Wolverines go?"

4. Sparty fans (friends) destroyed one of my chairs in celebration last year during a dogpile.

Win with cruelty.

I've been replaying this in my head all day, because it's their ass come Saturday. (Really just the Ezekiel 25:17. Not the gunshots.)

We're arrogant; yet what the fuck have they been the past eight years. This applies to basketball as well. The every fucking year, they expect the sports world to crown their asses as national champions before the first tipoff of the season.

Then there's their living in the past jab they like to throw at us. Really? I haven't seen a team get so much mileage out of a national title that was one damn near twenty years ago; subsequent FF appearances be damned. I find it funny that some of the programs that have won multiple championships since 2000 have made them their bitch at one point.

To interpolate a Tupac quote: Fuck Michigan State as a team, a school and a muthafucking crew. And if you wanna be down with Michigan State then fuck you too.

The 2011 game changed it for me. I've always disliked MSU of course, often in a kind of half-hearted way, but I never despised the program like I did post-2011. I lost all respect for their program after their strategy for Denard Robinson was to eliminate him from the game through violence. If that pile shifts a bit the wrong way, Denard could have very easily broken his neck, but the louts on their coaching staff were too busy stewing in their inferiority complex to care about that.

Yeah. There was an MSU blog analyst who tweeted
Something about if Hoke keeps running Gardner like that ND should go for Gardner's knees.

That and the 60 minutes of unnecessary roughness I despise.

I hope we hang 80 on them, crush their offense, and walk out silently, not mention it the next day, and not think of them for the rest of the year. They would hate that.

Douchebag.

I want to beat Sparty badly. I never want a 18-22 something kid suffer a major injury.

And as to the Hart little brother comment.... didn't Dantonio kick off the whole damn thing with his'moment of silence' quote?

wildbackdunesman

October 27th, 2016 at 10:07 PM ^

The thing is MSU's 2 RBs started the "little brother" talk that year.  Caulcrick and Ringer in the State News were quoted bashing Michigan as arrogrant and thinking that MSU was their little brother, but that they would prove that they weren't.

Hart specifically references this when he said "and I only say that, because that is what they think we think."

So many MSU fans are obnoxious...the same Spartan fans that will call Hart's comments a "nuclear bomb" are the same Spartan fans that make justifications/excuses for Gholston, the Conboy-Tropp attack, all of Dantonio's snide comments, etc.....

Some of their worst fans aren't the ones who've been loyal Green since the days of Perles + Saban + Bobby + JLS. They are the fairweather fans who were Michigan until the tide turned or even worse the State bball and M football fans who dot the Meijers of our great state.

Those fans who are alums but only care when things are good. I have 5 of them in my office. None of them have worn green on Fridays (spirit day at the office, I always wear maize/blue) since the loss to Wisconsin. All of them brag (brag!) about not watching the Spartans since that game. None of them said a WORD the week before last year's game...and wouldn't shut up after the miracle. None of them even watched it live. All "heard about it" on Sunday morning.

The hardcore fans from way back who are almost insufferable. One guy I see during baseball season a lot. We hadn't seen each other since the miracle last year and the first thing he says to me in March is about that game. I was taken aback. Even after the drubbing to Bama and Michigan blowing out Florida, he wanted to discuss the punt block (his words). Praised MD on how he called the right play at the right time and that JH was an idiot and too arrogant to make the right decision by NOT punting or setting up a better blocking scheme.

For years when we destroyed MSU year in and year out, I didn't poke fun except for some ribbing the week before or after the game. Some of my best friends are Sparties. The best man at my wedding is a huge State fan (it was thrilling to take him to Braylonfest btw). Yet I didn't gloat or patronize State or its fans.

I don't have any hate toward Dantonio or the players or the school itself. But the pent up anger and insufficient personal pride of MSU fans...

I'm just realizing now how much I want our boys to win. And I won't even say a word to the "fans" at my office when we win.
