I'm curious to see if we get any #1 votes. I think we look very close to Alabama. Our defense could definitely keep us in a close game with them.

That guy was getting laughed at by OSU fans early in the year. He's looking pretty smart right now.

Sagarin looks like it is up-to-date as of yesterday's games, and we see Michigan at #2, below only Alabama.
Other Big Ten notables:
#3 - Ohio State
#10 - Wisconsin
#24 - Nebraska
#31 - Penn State
#34 - Iowa
#44 - Northwestern
So, seven Big Ten teams in the top 50.

To kick things off, Jeff Sagarin's rankings were out almost immediately. His algorithm favors SoS and point totals strongly (and some other factors) that skew the results more than one would expect. Here are some fun observations:
- OSU losing to a 20+ point underdog only dropped them to #3, while their SoS is #40 and ours is #50
- A 3-4 Ole Miss is ranked #12 above the following teams: undefeateds Baylor #14, West Virginia #15, Nebraska #24, Boise St #26, and WMU #23
- 4 SEC in top ten,3 Big Ten, 2 ACC, and 1 PAC
- Sparty #68

The SEC/ESPN alliance has built an infinity machine when it comes to rankings. SEC team loses to another SEC team and both go up in rankings as both played a VERY HARD GAME AGAINST AN EXCELLENT OPPONENT thereby raising the SOS of both. Winning team goes up, obviously, because they defeated an excellent foe. Losing team goes up because they lost to a team even more excellent than originally thought.
The only way to shut it down is to do what OSU did in 2014 and beat them. Get jailsexed like MSU did last year and the hype machine rolls on.

Ole Miss has gone 3-4 with wins over Memphis, Wofford, and Georgia. Expect them to fall to #24!

To be fair on a neutral field I would expect Ole Miss to beat Nebraska, Boise and WMU without much thought and they would certainly be favorites over Baylor and WVU. Sagarin ratings are supposed to be who are actually the best teams, the other polls are about who has had a better season. Can be two different answers.

..does any school get less out of strong recruiting classes than Georgia?
I mean turning strong recruiting classes into mediocre teams the lose games they are supposed to win is probably Georgia's longest and most established tradition.

Because they have talent. Yes they completely collapsed but they still had those big leads and put up 43 points on a bama team thats given up over 10 points one other time this season. They haven't finished this year but they have played well enough in spurts to show at their best they are still competitive with some actually good team. Nebrasksa is competitive with Purdue.
