Any new injuries besides possibly Speight?
Obviously Speight took a hit that hopefully will have no lingering effect. Did anyone recognize any other potential injuries yesterday? Would be great to be going into the conference games in decent shape of course.
Related, I trust the order of greatest liklihood of return this week for Lewis, Charlton and Mone is that order.

Tyree Kinnel went out at one point, and I'm not sure if he came back in. I feel like we saw a lot more Brandon Watson after Kinnel got hurt.

Yeah I remember Colorado going right after Watson as soon as he came in. We need Lewis back sooner rather than later.

He whiffed on about 6 tackles in this game he was terrilble worst tackler I have ever seen.

I don't recall seeing Kinnel back after he went out.
Khaleke (sp?) Hudson also went out with an apparent injury.

You know, I find that to be true as I get older too - I'll fall awkwardly and stay down until my wife or someone on a field or track say, "You're fine. You can get up at any moment now." or less tactfully, "Get up, asshole".
Sometimes, I even get up and continue onwards.

Yeah we do, but he doesn't go by that name during games, team rosters, or press conferences

That's fantastic news if true. Our secondary got beat, but still was able to largely survive without it's best player. Look at how much Awuzie influenced yesterday's game. I firmly believe that with a healthy Lewis that game is nowhere near as close.

A few passes he kinda floated when the receiver was open. Eventually those are going to be INTs.
September 18th, 2016 at 3:22 PM ^
I counted at least 3 balls that coulda shoulda been picks. He was very lucky.
September 18th, 2016 at 12:49 PM ^
Speight didn't look right to me. I'm hoping it's a minor thing but his accuracy seemed noticeably worse, and a lot of his passes were wobbly. The deep ball also seemed to disappear from the playbook at some point around the second quarter.
September 18th, 2016 at 12:53 PM ^
The whole game he was slow and the passes floated. Also a few times Speight had room to run but he is so Navarre slow that the space closed up. A running QB would be lethal in this offense.
September 18th, 2016 at 1:05 PM ^
I don't think his athleticism is that bad. He eluded the rush pretty well on a few plays and seemed comfortable throwing on the move. I thought he actually looked worse throwing from the pocket.

He was under pressure and the difference showed.
John Navarre looked great in his early games when he had no pressure. Then he went south when the pressure came. It took until his junior and senior years for the game to slow down for him.
September 18th, 2016 at 4:17 PM ^
Yes. He looked like the inexperienced college quarterback who he is. The speed of Colorado is noticeably different/better than that of out previous two opponents, affecting the speed of the game.
It's a process. Let's hope he's better this week after this experience.
September 18th, 2016 at 1:07 PM ^
The Pretty good Speight you saw against Colorado will lead this team to a 3 loss season. He needs to play much better.
We don't have the defense or weapons around him for him to be "just" a game manager. That's if we plan on beating MSU and keeping it close with OSU.
September 18th, 2016 at 1:28 PM ^
Chesson, Darboh, Butt, and Peppers would like a word with you.
September 18th, 2016 at 2:52 PM ^
All of those guys are pretty elite weapons. But I think the original point has some merit. Outside of some sweeps and some packages for Jabrill, none of those guys provide us with an elite running game. While not impossible, it's difficult to win a conference championship with a "game-managing" QB, if you lack a ground game that can grind things out between the tackles. Fortunately, we have a good defense, good special teams, and a staff that will ensure that the players continue to improve, but we do need Speight to keep getting better, along with the running game, if we expect to finish the regular season 11-1 or better.
September 18th, 2016 at 3:30 PM ^
Sad but true. We are not beating Ohio State 1997-style by holding them to a couple of TDs over the course of a game while our offense spends 2 quarters figuring things out.
We can't just go 3 and out, and punt and play field position. We will have to keep up with them scoring wise.
September 18th, 2016 at 1:27 PM ^
took command of the game. I was heartened rather than displeased overall. Guy got his shit together, led his passers (as Harbaugh noted), managed the game. He was candid about it afterward, too.
Still think the calendar sets up about as well as it could, that we're a little better than the doubters believe, with lots of ceiling too--especially given some of the lingering injuries.
