Houston Cougars Schedule
Some polls have Houston ranked above Michigan. How are suppose to pass them with this pathetic schedule?
9/10 Lamar
9/15 @ Cinci
9/24 TX St.
9/29 UConn
10/8 @ Navy
10/15 Tulsa
10/22 @SMU
10/29 UCF
11/12 Tulane
11/17 Lvlle
11/25 @Memphis
I'd feel a lot better if they added Cass Tech.

the competition it schedules whether coached by Kevin Sumlin or by Tom Herman. And a team of that caliber playing Oklahoma and Louisviile as its primary tests compared to what the other power conferences offer in week to week challenges, let alone rivalry games and conference road games means that Houston has a problem. And that problem is making sure its perfect notwithstanding all the other obstacles its way of recognition as a playoff contender, like favorable voting based on these enumerated factors.

An undefeated Michigan is in regardless of what anybody else does.
If we are 1-loss Big Ten champions, here is who is a big threat to us:
- A 1-loss SEC champion. (SEC is going to get the benefit of the doubt no matter what.)
- A 1-loss ACC champion if it is FSU or Clemson. (Better SOS than us, and these teams have shown up well in the CFP in the past.)
- A 1-loss ND. (Their only loss would be the TX 2-OT loss. Better SOS than us, and ND has yet to be in the CFP. They are ND and there will always be pressure to get them in.)
- An undefeated Houston if they look good against all the teams they play. (There will be a strong desire on the part of the committee to get a P5 team in the playoff for political correctness reasons if they can plausibly justify it. Politics matter.)

In a word, yes.

Bluebloods have national audiences....Houston is not a huge draw. I don't care what anyone says there is little chance the NCAA doesn't find an excuse to not include Houston in any playoff due to limited fanbase.

So yeah, that's a guaranteed 12-0.
Only Louisville has a chance to give them any sort of game.
If they go undefeated, their SoS needs to come into play. Because they literally play nobody except, you know, Oklahoma and Louisville.
Michigan would go undefeated two out of three years with that schedule.

But we don't have anything else to worry about.
It's what we do.

Its such a long season. Injuries, etc, every team stumbles at some point. Very hard to go 12-0 although I would like to try 8-)

I am one of those people who think a 1-loss B1G team would be selected over Houston with no loss. If that is not the norm, then what is the point of being in a power 5 conference? You can just be out of the power 5 conference, schedule one big game and somehow win it. I have a hard time believing that there will be four no-loss power 5 champions each year. If Houston gets in over a 1-loss power 5 conference champion, then I would say ND is the smartest team in the country and they should never join a conference.

In addition to Michigan being in it, I root for this scenario for no other reason than it means the Big12, Pac 12, and ND are all shut out of the playoff.
There would immediately be an 8 team playoff the following year.

Between Cincinnati, Navy, Tulsa, Louisville, and Memphis, I see at least one loss for Houston.

If somebody last week said "I'll bet you $100 I can start a thread on the Houston Cougars football schedule on a Wednesday night and get over 130 responses I'd have taken that bet in a nano-second.
It's increadible what one win over Oklahoma can do.

The thought of even having to explain that a 13-0 Big Ten champion, would have to worry about Houston, is borderline insane. They may have to play them in the playoff but getting left out because of them, not so much.

my ass off. Everytime I select this thread I get the audio of someone saying "semen" It sounds just like the voice used in the old black and white filmstrips shown to me in elementary school in the 60's. I've clicked on this about six times time because It's funnier than Hell. Yes, I realize I'm 55 and that this is funny to me. I also really contribute nothing of any significance to society either.
