Harbaugh wants to stay here Long Term
According to this interview JH is very amenable to staying at UM for 20 - 25 years... Let us all pray that 'the creek don't rise'....

Are we allowed to imagine beating MSU and OSU or do we have to wait till we beat MSU and OSU?

Some folks would argue that we can't use Google until we beat OSU/MSU. But we're not "some folks."

Probably one of the few times this joke made sense

It's impossible even to try
We have Harbaugh as our coach now
He's here until I die.
Imagine all the people
Singing the victorr--rrs-rss
You can say I'm a dreamer,
but I'm not the only one
With Jim as our coach
It's time to have some fun...
Sorry, mind's wandering this morning...

We should imagine championships every day. All day. I'm sure JMFH thinks of little else.

Jesus - Andrew Luck will be what....like 45-50 or something when he leaves then? I'm guessing he wont him much left in the tank by then that's for sure.
Kinda surprised he'd wait that long given how important it is for him to coach Luck again according to the NFL "insiders".

"I love coaching, I love football, I love the University of Michigan...and I really love pissing Paul Finebaum off on a daily basis."

"Yeah Michigan has won championships 5 out of the last 7 years, but do recruits really want to play for a guy who takes a picture of his player holding the Heisman trophy he just won and posts it on Twitter?"

When I read the OP title, I thought this response is similar to "there is water at the bottom of the ocean."

And this 'he'll be at ______ NFL team in two years,' talk will never end. We knew this would be an endless cycle as soon as he was hired. Just have to go with it.
Stoney on the 97.1 morning show just said 20 minutes ago that he still suspects Harbaugh will be gone in a couple years because he'll piss off some higher up or he'll get bored and want to try something else. See, even the local media repeats what the national media does.

is horrible
I stopped listening
I liked listening to Mike and Mike until they scrapped that
Now I listen to music in the morning

I feel like he's been asked about this multiple times and this is the most affirmative answer yet. I'm not saying its a lock, but I like this answer.
August 25th, 2016 at 8:21 AM ^
Well, duh.
August 25th, 2016 at 8:32 AM ^
I find it crazy that news outlets care so much about whether he'll stay a couple years or his entire lifetime. What does that have to do with anything really? Things change, people change. I hope that he's a lifer at Michigan but right now I'm just happy he's at Michigan.
August 25th, 2016 at 8:36 AM ^
What is good for JH is good for the Michigan Football Program! He knows what he is doing and is bringing the program back . . .
August 25th, 2016 at 8:44 AM ^
Ever heard a coach say, "I'll probably be here a few years, hopefully something better will come along"?
Never happens. At best, they'll say something to the effect of, "Love it here, can't imagine going anywhere else, but never say never."
Course we all hope he stays at Michigan forever. That would be fantastic. But if he wins a few titles along the way, who knows if he wants to go back for the Super Bowl?
August 25th, 2016 at 9:14 AM ^
But, a counter is Brady Hoke at SDSU. EVERYONE knew he was hoping to make the jump to Michigan. He didn't do or say anything to hide that, either.
Yeah, I agree that the answer Harbaugh gave is often canned coachspeak. That doesn't mean that in this instance it was - might have been genuine. Drink the Kool Aid, man.

Maybe he's telling the truth, and the homer in me believes that he is, but it's called coachspeak. Sometimes it's best to keep what you really think to yourself, and continue making sure the masses are hearing what they want to hear.

He's been talking around this question since he got hired, I think that was the straightest answer he's given so far. It's not an out and out yes, because no one really knows the future, but he makes it pretty clear that Michigan is what he wants which is really all fans can ask for.
August 25th, 2016 at 9:12 AM ^
You say he is going to be here a long time, but to me all it says is that Harbaugh is already thinking about retirement.
August 25th, 2016 at 9:20 AM ^
But I think he actually means it. I mean, did he move his parents out to California when he was coaching there?
Does anyone remember the look on Jack Harbaugh's face during Jim's introductory press conference? I don't think I've ever seen a father more happy and proud of his kid.
He bought a house in Bo's neighborhood, even though he could have got a much bigger / more expensive house.
He's sending his young kids to the same Catholic school he went to.
It's obvious to anyone paying attention that being the Michigan Head Coach has been Jim's dream since elementary school. Why would he ever leave?
August 25th, 2016 at 12:17 PM ^
And don't they have another one on the way? So you figure he's added at least another 18 years to the commitment, not to mention not daring to go back on uprooting his parents so they could babysit...
