TL;DR: I told ya so, and I can prove it. I told ya so, again...

10/05/2018 - 2:23pm A blowout is unlikely, and…

A blowout is unlikely, and even if one had the luxury, getting 2nd/3rd stringers meaningful snaps is far more important.

10/04/2018 - 9:37am There are no objective…

There are no objective measures that would support UM being the 3rd best team in the B1G since 2015. Subjective eye-ball maybe, but nothing objective. Overall records, division/conf. champs, H2H, bowl records, etc..

I'm very glad JH is the coach, and I have patience, but 2015 was a big success given where the program was. 2016 was a disappointment however close the losses were. Last year was a big disappointment regardless of the youth and QB injuries.

10/03/2018 - 11:39am NW shut UM down in the 1st…

NW shut UM down in the 1st quarter not the first "HALF" and then UM won the next 3 Qs 20-0 and outgained NW 350 - 97. Good teams do that. Nobody said Cincy or Air Force were great last year. PU was a decent team last year, but regardless, a bad UM team won all those games.

ND isn't "secretly good" they're just good and maybe better than good. Many teams are looking up at PSU, but Harbaugh is 2-1 vs them.

10/02/2018 - 10:56pm I was speaking only to his…

I was speaking only to his observation. Big picture is UM has lacked OL, QB and or skill players since 2007. Harbaugh’s O requires a complete roster, and UM is close. OL is the biggest deficiency this year. We’ll see about their development. Can they answer the bell vs WI, MSU, PSU and OH? We’ll see.

10/02/2018 - 10:50pm UM consistently gets Sparty…

UM consistently gets Sparty’s best game, but OSU has out recruited UM for a decade and easily had the better coaching staff 2008 - 2014. Every close game during that time is a testament to not getting their best game. Looking forward to over performing that week and officiating that is mostly fair (no away game there will actually be fair).

10/02/2018 - 5:50pm Your observation is that we…

Your observation is that UM didn't beat ND (the only team with a winning record). That's quite a small sample.

10/02/2018 - 4:30pm No offensive style ensures…

No offensive style ensures success, and all are variant. When done poorly each style brings it's own style of horror. I would like to see this style when there's a dominant OL, with a good QB and good skill players executing it. UM has lacked 1 or 2 of those three each year.

10/01/2018 - 4:22pm "Northwestern crowd"

You…

"Northwestern crowd"

You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.

09/27/2018 - 3:25pm Zoinks always seemed…

Zoinks always seemed paranoid (and hungry to me). To me, Jinkies would seem over-the-top.

09/26/2018 - 2:07pm You're crazy, Crazy. I don't…

You're crazy, Crazy. I don't know what the 50% circumstances are that he stays. It seems well known to insiders that his desire is to go so I'm curious what 50% you're thinking about. Same for Gary but even fewer circumstances make sense to me.

09/26/2018 - 11:08am Unless the job gets finished…

Unless the job gets finished this year, of course.

09/26/2018 - 10:51am I love the academies and…

I love the academies and root for them in all games save vs. UM. That said, I'm firmly of the opinion not to ever schedule them. I think Don Brown probably mitigates my concern, but I just don't like it.

09/25/2018 - 4:07pm So, you reject any argument…

So, you reject any argument with a rival fan that points to anything prior to 5 years ago? I get it, but I don't think many rivalry arguments are confined to such a short time. Your "I'd be a schmuck" line seems like one we cross with our rivals every time we have a beer with them (if we do).

09/25/2018 - 3:51pm Is this a comment on all…

Is this a comment on all stats or just the fancy kind? Does your point also apply to other analysis and discussion on this board? "That is why they play the games" seems to apply to all of the content here.

09/25/2018 - 3:44pm That win probability vs MD…

That win probability vs MD seems right if Temple-MD shows up. If Texas-MD shows up I think its lower. They looked a little close to Texas-MD vs MN (but MN is a bad team).

09/25/2018 - 3:42pm Please define "right now"…

Please define "right now" and how far back you think one can go before ceasing to make a "difference to what's happening right now." I assume 2014 isn't your answer, but logically it could be close.

It's good that you have an arbitrary "I couldn't care less" moment in time though. My moment in time is roughly 1969 for a couple reasons, but I care a fair amount about the history before that depending on the conversation.

09/23/2018 - 9:39pm Prohibitive favorite at…

Prohibitive favorite at Augusta next year. Two Sunday leads this year. I think Tiger definitely has a shot at 18-19.

09/20/2018 - 1:03pm Like someone else said, they…

Like someone else said, they're always back for The Game.

09/20/2018 - 9:10am OSU (and UF before) is…

OSU (and UF before) is influenced greatly by the culture of the football program. FB runs the AD, and debate how much the AD + fan base (including donors) runs the rest of the university, but Meyer runs the FB and AD. These incidents happened within his program, not out in the university culture. He is the "one person" in this saga.

09/18/2018 - 10:26am The timing has been hard to…

The timing has been hard to swallow too. Crucial (and some not so crucial) 3rd and 10+. At 14% my brain would conclude every one of them are either the opponents first play from scrimmage (cranking up my fear of the Horror) or on 3rd and long.

09/13/2018 - 1:23pm "...but everything coming…

"...but everything coming out of camp was he was pushing for the LT spot"

This was not true for the last couple weeks in camp according to the reports on 247, WTKA and this site. Hudson was at RT mid/late-August.

09/12/2018 - 4:27pm Except for CBs the coaches…

Except for CBs the coaches rarely say anything critical or "real" about anyone in pressers. Lots of coach speak, positivity and naming the entire rotation or 2-deep when responding to questions.

From a behavior standpoint this staff has been willing to switch up starters mid-season. Ulizio, JBB, & Onwenu all lost their starting jobs last year. So did O'Korn. I don't really care what they say in a presser as long as they're willing to try and find a better guy.

09/11/2018 - 10:06am I appreciate that JH makes…

I appreciate that JH makes the team better with transfers. It's a useful tool. He's 2 for 3 with QBs. Rudock and Shea were better than the roster. JOK was not. Unfortunately, he had to rely on Rudock. Shea is a different matter and would be #1 on many teams. Given the current QB room I don't see it happening in the near future, but if it's ever necessary JH should keep doing it.

Wait until Milton throws two passes. OP's head will explode.

09/10/2018 - 11:43am YTM?

YTM?

09/09/2018 - 10:32am What parts of the playbook…

What parts of the playbook is DMc so obviously not ready to run? Is this observation only from the two short stints we’ve seen or do you have access to some practices?

09/09/2018 - 10:29am JH has said multiple times…

JH has said multiple times that BP needs to work on his leadership and fire. He has also said that DCaff has “it”. I do not think this means BP can never earn the role. It could click for him but this is a hurdle for BP.

09/09/2018 - 10:19am It seems unreasonable to me…

It seems unreasonable to me to make such a declaration on such a small sample from DCaff and nothing from BP.

09/06/2018 - 1:32pm People are saying this …

People are saying this "other considerations" doesn't matter.

08/22/2018 - 6:36pm Thanks UMBig11. Wilson’s…

Thanks UMBig11. Wilson’s grip on RB3 has been consistent and solid since Spring — until Turner’s recent jump. Pass Pro has been noted as a significant reason. Any opinion on his running skills vs others in competition?

08/21/2018 - 3:44pm Four AA candidates on the OL…

Four AA candidates on the OL seems as far from last year’s UM team as one can get. Hornibrook threw a lot of picks, but he was far more effective than UMs QBs. Even losing his best targets won’t drive him to those depths. Very little about their offense seems akin to UM 2017.

08/20/2018 - 2:43pm According to Sam the JBB…

According to Sam the JBB-Hudson battle is for RT and in his opinion is currently Hudson and likely to stay that way.

08/20/2018 - 2:08pm I hope so too. To be fair we…

I hope so too. To be fair we're only hearing "in the rotation" (2nd/3rd string) at DT behind Dwumfour who has little significant PT and maybe Kemp who just moved inside. This is not far-fetched for a 5th year who has seen the field some.

08/20/2018 - 1:38pm Actually, Deep Throat's…

Actually, Deep Throat's source was Jack Harbaugh at Weber's.

08/12/2018 - 3:06pm Agreed. OP seems to think ND…

Agreed. OP seems to think ND's unproven replacements and question marks will be hot messes, while UM's similar questions will be answered to levels not seen here in a decade.  Optimism and/or homerism at their best.

I think on the road this is a toss up game. First game weirdness and big plays will be the difference.

08/02/2018 - 12:18pm FWIW, Nicole Auerbach may…

FWIW, Nicole Auerbach may make a similar point in her article in yesterday's Athletic. I don't subscribe so I can't say for sure.

07/24/2018 - 3:40pm It depends on who the 1-loss…

It depends on who the 1-loss is. If it's WI or PSU and UM wins the East & B1G then I'm completely satisfied. If it's either OSU or MSU (even on the road, even with a B1G title) then I cannot be completely satisfied.

Complete satisfaction requires a B1G title and wins in The Game and vs. MSU -- even with a tough schedule.

07/24/2018 - 12:08pm For me PSU is a rivalry at…

For me PSU is a rivalry at an intellectual level, but not much of an emotional one. Maybe that changes at some point, but I care about PSU as far as winning the East, without a visceral reaction. The fans are a little chippy but I only interact with a couple.

Obviously, it does not compare to The Game at all. 3 - 17 over the last decade vs. them and MSU has been a nightmare. As an aside, because of growing up during the 70/80s I have more hatred for ND and USC than PSU.

Beat OSU and MSU this year and I'm mostly fine with a loss to PSU.

07/24/2018 - 10:51am Somewhat successful, but…

Somewhat successful, but incomplete. Yes, more competitive, but 0 - 3 in The Game and 1 - 2 vs. MSU is a fail irrespective of circumstance.

2015 was a big success, 2016 was a big disappointment given the roster, 2017 was a disappointment, but more than 2-3 losses was understandable.

Lack of OL development over 3 years is a disappointment.

Lack of QB is largely bizarre circumstances with inherited talent.

This year I expect 2-losses even if the team performs well. OL and QB is still too questionable and the schedule is ridiculous. Go 3 - 1 vs OSU, MSU, PSU and WI and I'll be mostly satisfied.

Fire Pep was a lot like fire Drevno. Both got a lot of play here.

Yes. Did this cinematic advice started with the movies she saw after her engagement?

Unstoppable and unguardable have lost a bit of their luster.

03/15/2018 - 12:54pm I agree he took pleasure it,

I agree he took pleasure it, but in a mano a mano schadenfreude way. I loved him, and he loved winning the physical battles, but more so the psychological battles as you say. I never watched Laimbeer in college. Maybe he played with more unfiltered joy like Mo, but the two enjoyments seem quite different to me. Glad I rooted for the Pistons and UM bc both would be easy to hate otherwise.

03/15/2018 - 11:17am Forget it, you're on a roll.

Forget it, you're on a roll.

03/15/2018 - 11:16am I think this is an important

I think this is an important difference between the two. I think Moe is driven mostly by passion and raw emotion -- raw joy and enthusiasm. He admits a part of it is calulated or at least he's self-aware. I'm not sure Laimbeer's passion and enthusiasm ever came from joy. I think it came from anger, defiance and competition, and he definitely calculated his opponents reactions to his antics. He honed his schtick.

03/13/2018 - 12:52pm Do you really disagree with

Do you really disagree with Ace? Neither of you think this is a transition year now, but Ace thought before the season that it would be. Did you have UM being a top-4 seed, winning 13ish B1G games and winning the BTT? Most did not due to the transition from DWalt's team. Even if one thought MAAR and Mo would be our two best players their leaps have been impressive, and the rest of the team especially Z have been at least as impressive.
