Dave Brandon on CNBC

I'd rather chew shards of glass.

It's Kodiak not Skoal that would fit that bill....

This made me laugh. Upvote for you, sir.

He's kinda like that turd that just won't flush. You have to go back and reflush about 4 more times before it finally decides to stay down.
October 30th, 2015 at 10:01 AM ^
No, worse, he's the one that you end pushing down with the plunger. After four flushes you realize he won't go away unless you force him out.

Christ, we have CNBC in our office all day. Help!
October 30th, 2015 at 8:15 AM ^
He's going to discuss a "realignment" of the Toys R Us workforce that will involve the 'sourcing (on-, off-, and everything in-between) of all jobs but his.
The realignment will allow Toys R Us to better respond to its global customers.
Any savings from the realignment will be directed to a special, top-secret initiative managed by Mr. Brandon.

I heard he's putting a giant noodle outside the corporate headquarters and will be charging his employees for water.

You can all downvote me but it's seriously time to let Dave Brandon go. He is gone. Yes, he made mistakes as AD but why do people need to continually slam the guy? It's over. You won, he lost. Don't we all have better things to do? Endzone is out for all to read. Let it die, please.

Well, maybe because he he is deserving of being continually slammed. For 4 years (?) he heard what the fans wanted and continued to d the opposite.
October 30th, 2015 at 10:00 AM ^
more like, he would listen to the fans, tell them to fuck off and then do what he wanted to do anyway.
Which of course is basically the same thing you said. Ignoring is one thing but taunting the fan base is much more unacceptable.
October 30th, 2015 at 8:22 AM ^
because he doesn't think he lost. he is a smug @ss. if he were to come out and publicly apologize for all the awful things he did then I would perhaps let it go.
until then he ruined our football program repeatably, treated fans like shit for 4 years and fired a lot of good people for no reason other than to surround himself with his goons

My view is that a douche like Brandon will never "think he lost". That's not in his DNA. He's the sort of guy who paradoxically believes that the market isn't smart enough for his marketing.
But I'm all for people pillorying (sp?) him as much as possible. The more that there is a counterweight to his self-aggrandizing prattle in the interwebs, the better.
Because seriously. Fuck that guy.

Right. And as an aside, I'm hearing we still have a shot at RoJo FWIW.

It's our inate right to hold onto grudges until the end of time.
October 30th, 2015 at 8:59 AM ^
It was from a game played almost 40 years ago. I was all of 17 years old when it happened and many of the players and coaches who played in the game have passed away. And you know what? IT STILL PISSES ME OFF TO THIS VERY FUCKING DAY.
It will NEVER be forgotten by me and die because this play, like Dave Brandon, fucked over something I love very much and because of that I will NEVER forget the play or that asswhipe from the jaws of Hell Dave Brandon.
October 30th, 2015 at 9:02 AM ^
If only they had had video reviews back then so the officials could have upheld the call on the field... sigh.

I remember that game too. I can still smell the cigar smoke that filled the room that New Year's Day. I was very upset at the obvious USC fumble being ruled a touchdown. It wasn't fair. Something had to be done about it. After the game though, a funny thing happened. I went back to playing with my Christmas toys. It was over. Michigan had lost. Again. There wasn't anything I could do about it. I had to let it go. You know what? The world went on and so did Michigan.
October 31st, 2015 at 3:13 PM ^
I saw it too. I'm not from Michigan and was not a Michigan fan back then. As an impartial observer at the time, my thoughts were "Wow Michigan get really screwed on that bad call. What a shame."
October 30th, 2015 at 10:52 AM ^
Some things should stay with you---this play, Pearl Harbor, Woody going for 2 already up 34 points, the smirk on the face of Scowling Jesus (Dantonio), and Dave Brandon systematically substituting the continued growth of his own ego as the most important aspect of Michigan athletics.

October 30th, 2015 at 11:24 AM ^
My bad, and thanks for reminding me. Maybe I just like to remember it the other way where he gets the 2 to make 50.
October 30th, 2015 at 7:01 PM ^
OSU scored to make it 48. Kicked the extra point. It was good. We were offsides. Woody took the penalty and then went for 2 to make it 50-14. I was in that endzone.
October 30th, 2015 at 9:18 PM ^
I'm sorry, but you're misremembering it. It was 44-14 before they scored. The TD made it 50-14 and then their two-point try failed. Here's the video:
October 30th, 2015 at 11:40 AM ^
Also, wider shot of the injustice to give you scale of how many people saw the lie:
But the real reason Michigan lost the 1979 Rose Bowl: USC Punter Marty King #4 booming huge kicks of 50+ yards and giving Michigan shitty field position all game long.
Without King, Michigan would have had more scoring opportunities.
Michigan ran an Option I offense, which was perfect for grinding down Big Ten weaklings in 1978, but USC had the No. 2 or 3 total defense in the land that year.
Marty King, USC Punter, #4

I remember watching that and saying, "That's not fair!"
Who neg'd this???

he just fucked it up royally for a while. Michigan football is back. I couldn't be happier. Please resume pure joy status.

Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor? It's NEVER going to be over with this guy. His fuckups will always be a black mark on our history. How do you ever get over that?
I may give the guy a break if he was to ever come out with an apology or accept some responsibility for what he caused. But I doubt that he will. He seems like the type who isn't a big enough man to ever accept that he could ever make such large mistakes, or that he actually could have failed at something. Like the part in JUB's book when he couldn't accept that he was not a good enough player and had to go to the practice squad.
