Josh Henschke: Karmello English gone from team
Too bad. Best of luck to him. Portal or dismissed?
Nothing is out there to tell us at the moment.
ON3 doesn't have him listed in the portal tracker, so I'm guessing other reasons.
According to ON3, he stated he will be entering the portal on April 16th.
Is he waiting to get his taxes done before entering the portal?
No doubt.
I believe that would be the date the portal reopens.
Michigan needs two WRs in the portal.
‘25 class needs 4-5 WRs.
How many recruiting classes in the past thirty years have had 5 WR? 4 WR? I don't think you'd typically see that many.
Not going through others, but I had to check the snake-oil year: 2008 brought in four WRs.
2017 also brought four WRs (DPJ, Tarik Black, Nico Collins, and Oliver Martin), five if you want to count Brad Hawkins who was a receiver coming out of high school.
Too bad we didn't have a QB that could throw a deep pass
Well, typically UM would have depth in the WR room
There was the year with DJP, Nico, Black, and Oliver Martin. That was supposed to be the OSU level WR haul.
That group should have been a lot more productive than it was.
Tarik Black couldn't keep his toe healthy, DPJ was very useful but underperformed his ability and, for whatever reason, we refused to armpunt shots to Nico Collins on every play.

while you were typing Oliver Martin just transferred to one of the Dakota-type schools for his 9th year

Not sure if you know, but he actually signed on with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers of the CFL in January after being waived from the Jaguars practice squad last Sept, so you were pretty close.

All the best to the young man!
Where he'll rack up about 180 yds and 2 TDs next season.
You should be more productive that you are.

probably every Rich Rod class since he thought all surplus WR's and slots could be turned into defensive studs.
spoiler: they couldn't
If my son was a WR and RichRod came calling I'd turn on the sprinklers.

I still remember one of Rich Rod's first classes was either entirely WRs or mostly WRs at the beginning. It had Ricardo Miller(?) and Jeremy Jackson and I forget who else

6-7 WR in the 2025 season with recruits and transfers. That will never happen and never has. 2-4 makes more sense. The current roster has allot of underclass WR already.
Our wide receiver core consists of Morgan, Moore, Morris and two freshmen. Is this Bellamy’s fault?
Yes absolutely. He’s a terrible recruiter and coach..
Have you seen our offensive scheme? Not the most attractive for getting high end WRs here.
That said it is curious there hasn't been a single commit since Moore took over. Bama has 5 verbals since their switch.
Have we had a commit since winning the National Championship?
1. Recruiter - yeah, he hasn’t delivered strong WR classes and certainly not the raw talent. Terrible might be overly critical.
2. Coach - what is your basis for this assessment? Roman showed significant improvement this past year, Cornelius elevated his game late in the season, and Semaj developed steadily throughout the year.
Our offense philosophy... powerful run game...is not conducive to recruiting big time prospects. That's also why JJ was downgraded as a draft pick which, I notice, is no longer the case.
O’Leary too.
Cabana could be moved to WR. Dixon could move back.
And maybe some more Edwards or even W Johnson? Could be time for his Woodson year
Or Kenneth Grant. He has showed speed at times last year.
Breaking tackles and shaking DBs
Let's be honest. Would YOU try to cover him in the slot, going over the middle?
Grant showed soft hands on that one interception (Nebraska?) Guy is clearly ready for a bigger role on offense.
Edwards should move. His speed is better utilized outside the tackle box. He doesn't have the moves or tackle breaking ability to be a great RB.
Worst take of the whole year, past present and future.
It boggles the mind that someone can presumably watch Donovan Edwards duo Ohio State to death with ONE HAND, slalom through Purdue defenders with one hand en route to leading a Big Ten championship, duo Washington to death twice in the national championship, and then say with a straight face that Edwards can't be a good between-the-tackles runner
Check his average yards per carry last year. Pathetic.
Hardly. Edwards will be the 2nd or 3rd back by mid-season.
Yeah, I would tell him to give me 2 70 yds+ touchdowns early then play him at slot the rest of the game
Yea man, the guy who scored 2 long TD runs in the Natty just isn't good at playing his position. Very smart take.
Alot of people are going to be disappointed when they realize DEs isn't really that good of a RB unless he has a wide open hole
Donovan Edwards says “Hi!”
Michigan needs to put DE everywhere. He should have a [1000/1000]season rushing and receiving, or something ridiculous. 1600/1600 and we go back to back?
Probably will get a transfer after spring.
Will not get admitted after they committed.
Truth hurts, indeed.
It’s not really his fault players have transferred and/or switched positions.
Recruited since 2020 and no longer on the team:
Henning, transfer. Dennis, position switch and now transfer. Anthony, transfer. Dixon, position switch. Clemons, transfer. Walker, position switch and transfer. Now English.
Add in Wilson going to the NFL, and holding onto Moore, Morgan and Morris and the incoming freshmen, and that’s WR recruiting. We simply haven’t brought in transfers at WR to replace the departures, but it’s also very difficult to get quality transfer receivers to come play in this offense.
