That sucks :( love the Rocky movies. Except Rocky 5
February 2nd, 2024 at 3:04 PM ^
Rocky 5 never happened.
February 2nd, 2024 at 3:06 PM ^
I agree, it never happened. It’s like that Sinbad genie movie

You need to appreciate lines like “My ring’s outside” for the pure comedy of it, but I agree that Rocky V was by far the worst movie in that franchise.

"Only in America."
February 2nd, 2024 at 3:22 PM ^
Rocky V > Godfather III > Sopranos movie with the really stupid name
I mean, if they actually happened which they obviously didnt.
February 2nd, 2024 at 9:17 PM ^
It’s a play on the name “Moltisanti” which means “Many Saints” in Italian.

You mean the cinematic opus that gave us such great lines as:
Eh yo Tommy. I didnt hear no bell.
And
Touch me ... and I'll sue. (punch) Suemefawhaaa?

One of my best friends from law school believed Rocky 5 was the best Rocky. I lost so much respect for him the day he told me that.
February 2nd, 2024 at 11:42 PM ^
I once had a coworker who tried to convince us that Beverly Hills Cop 3 was the best of the three.

Baby, I got a stew going....
What's the Mandalorian going to do? Just watched the Rocky movies 1-4 with my kids. RIP CW.
February 2nd, 2024 at 3:03 PM ^
Damn, this makes me sad
February 2nd, 2024 at 3:41 PM ^
The rare double post with a post in between.
February 2nd, 2024 at 3:03 PM ^
Rest in peace Apollo. I will miss him and Flint native Tony Burton.
February 2nd, 2024 at 3:03 PM ^
RIP.
Great actor, but his characters just had lousy luck.
February 2nd, 2024 at 3:35 PM ^
Except maybe this one ("Action Jackson"):

One of my favorite thoughts was if you were watching Predator in 1987 and there was a scene with Carl, Arnold, and Jessie Ventura, and someone said, "in the next 10-15 years 2 of those 3 guys will be governors of large states," you would immediatley think that Carl Weathers had to be one and then be perplexed who the other one would be....

If I remember right, the night before the Minny election there was a 3-way debate carried on C-Span. Didn’t know a thing about Minny politics. Less than 10 minutes in I turned it off and went to go tell my wife Ventura was gonna be the next governor of Minnesota.

I was was watching his Big Kick comercial with Gronk and I remember thinking he had already passed. A sad day.
February 2nd, 2024 at 3:05 PM ^
Does anybody know if he did any cameos?
February 2nd, 2024 at 3:05 PM ^
RIP. I'll miss you Carl.
February 2nd, 2024 at 3:06 PM ^
Damn that sucks. RIP sir.
February 2nd, 2024 at 3:07 PM ^
No! I loved Carl. Think I'll watch Action Jackson this weekend, and then get a stew going.
February 2nd, 2024 at 3:14 PM ^
Oh man, make sure you've got some meat on that bone.
It says so much about him that he was more than happy to make himself look ridiculous in that cameo- it was so goddamn funny.
February 2nd, 2024 at 3:08 PM ^
You son of a bitch.
May he be remembered forever for the most testosterone-ladden handshake of all time:
February 2nd, 2024 at 3:13 PM ^
I'll always remember him as Chubbs from Happy Gilmore.
February 2nd, 2024 at 3:15 PM ^
Wow, I've never seen this! I think I'll watch.....Predator again.

Carl was a very underrated actor.
His role as Apollo Creed with never be forgotten.
But, most importantly, his role in one of the internet's greatest memes ever will not be forgotten.
February 2nd, 2024 at 3:21 PM ^
Guess that gator finally finished the job, ehhh Chubbs?
RIP to a legend. Apollo Creed is a generational character.
February 2nd, 2024 at 3:23 PM ^
RIP Mr Weathers 🙏
February 2nd, 2024 at 3:23 PM ^
wasn't he an NFL player, too? like a safety for cincinnati or something like that?
EDIT: found it. played LB for the raiders in 70-71, then in canada for BC for 3 years.
February 2nd, 2024 at 3:26 PM ^
I was expecting an obituary. The NY Post story isn't even an obituary. Give this man his due!
February 2nd, 2024 at 3:31 PM ^
RIP Chubbs
February 2nd, 2024 at 3:31 PM ^
To hell with that, I'm playing for Chubbs!
February 2nd, 2024 at 3:38 PM ^
Add some broth and a potato, baby you gotta a stew goin'.
February 2nd, 2024 at 3:38 PM ^
In addition to Apollo Creed and the other roles mentioned, he was great on The Mandalorian in recent years. He will be missed.
February 2nd, 2024 at 3:39 PM ^
I'm old enough to remember seeing Rocky in the theater when it first came out. It was a revelation. Apollo Creed was a great foil for Rocky. RIP
February 2nd, 2024 at 3:46 PM ^
I think Rocky 4 was the first one I saw in a theater. It was a huge deal growing up in Philly.
February 2nd, 2024 at 3:39 PM ^
RIP, Master of Disaster. I’ll be watching some Rocky movies this weekend in tribute.
February 2nd, 2024 at 3:44 PM ^
The count of monte fisto!
February 2nd, 2024 at 4:02 PM ^
Think you’ve got enough names?
February 2nd, 2024 at 7:11 PM ^
He's retired more men than Social Security!
February 2nd, 2024 at 3:48 PM ^
Sports movies are ruined when the actor doesn’t look like he could play the game. Bull Durham was ruined for me because Tim Robbins threw like a dork. Carl Weathers could act, but his athleticism helped make Rocky what it was.
February 2nd, 2024 at 4:19 PM ^
I have the same issue with Major League, where Corbin Bernsen looked like he'd never swung anything heavier than a squash racket. But in Rocky, Carl Weathers looked like the real deal.
Rest in peace, Apollo.
February 2nd, 2024 at 4:58 PM ^
This never bothered me about baseball movies because until the steroid era most pro baseball players didn't look like athletes either.

RIP Legend
makes me want to run on a beach
