jansen said this morning he thinks hes coming back fwiw.
January 12th, 2024 at 11:18 AM ^
Correct, and I think that's a tell that he's coming back anyways. Plus, there are folks that said that Harbaugh wants to be here, so it's really about what the University plans to do and how they will handle the condition that Harbaugh wants.
Personally, I hope they are able to get it done and get this extension signed. Having Harbaugh here has made Michigan football fun again.
January 12th, 2024 at 11:19 AM ^
Nobody seems to really pay attention. Harbaugh has said that himself, on multiple occasions, this year.
January 12th, 2024 at 11:28 AM ^
Pay attention?
January 12th, 2024 at 12:01 PM ^
Sorry, what did you say?
Things don't really register for me anymore unless they are included in at least four different posts on the Message Board.
January 12th, 2024 at 12:43 PM ^
Hey, did you hear Darius Clemmons is in the portal?
January 12th, 2024 at 1:14 PM ^
No, but I heard about Keith Jackson. RIP
January 12th, 2024 at 12:42 PM ^
As long as they pay the money
January 12th, 2024 at 12:56 PM ^
Never been about money lol
January 12th, 2024 at 1:21 PM ^
I have a feeling it'll be known after the parade tomorrow.
January 12th, 2024 at 2:49 PM ^
If it's true that the players know, then I think it's a sign he is returning otherwise we would have more transfers especially from starters instead of back ups.
January 12th, 2024 at 10:59 AM ^
Well, interesting that Will knows if an NFL team has already offered. If Harbaugh is going, Will might know that "Harbaugh plans to pursue an NFL job."
I'm just hoping the decision process for them is as quick as possible.
January 12th, 2024 at 11:49 AM ^
That was my first thought. Harbaugh wouldn't "decide" about leaving for the NFL. He'll either entertain offers or he won't. So, if Will knows, what does that tell you?
January 12th, 2024 at 10:59 AM ^
Slight correction.
"Will Johnson SAID Will Johnson knows if JJ and Jim are returning"
We have absolutely no way of knowing if that statement is true or just his conjecture.
January 12th, 2024 at 11:00 AM ^
I mean, even if he was directly told by Jim Harbaugh himself one way or the other it still wouldn't mean THAT much.
The situation could change instantly.

Saban just did an interview in which he acknowledged that he was still interviewing assistants the day before his retirement, and that he was still undecided in the last minutes leading up to a team meeting. Pretty incredible that he can make decisions that way. I feel like it would take me like a year to decide lol.
January 12th, 2024 at 11:07 AM ^
Maybe the assistant candidates he interviewed all sucked? I mean he got stuck with Tommy Rees last time around.
January 12th, 2024 at 11:11 AM ^
Herbstreit thinks Rees is a national treasure *slurp* *slurp*.
January 12th, 2024 at 11:24 AM ^
"He got stuck with Tommy Rees last time around." Respectfully, isn't this on Saban? Nick could interview and select anyone he wanted.
January 12th, 2024 at 11:19 AM ^
Mike Krzyzewski, is that you?
January 12th, 2024 at 11:28 AM ^
Rumors are that wife is sick and that had something to do with his decision.
January 12th, 2024 at 11:36 AM ^
Saban pushed back on those rumors yesterday.
January 12th, 2024 at 1:02 PM ^
Saban, when coach of the Dolphins, said “I am not taking the Alabama job” to the media and then took it the next day. So when did he become virtuous.
January 12th, 2024 at 7:54 PM ^
As a good friend of mine once said "I don't want to start thinking about retirement. Because then I'll be thinking about retirement"
January 12th, 2024 at 10:11 PM ^
I believe it was right before the team meeting that he retired at, How bad did that dude interview?
January 12th, 2024 at 12:04 PM ^
Please don't bring epistemology into this discussion. This is a sports blog.
January 12th, 2024 at 1:34 PM ^
…except it’s a Michigan sports blog soooooo
January 12th, 2024 at 10:59 AM ^
I hope the both answers are on the north side of positive.

TAUN: That Answer Up North
January 12th, 2024 at 1:36 PM ^
well i really hope JJ doesn’t slice open Harbaugh’s belly to keep warm on Saturday
January 12th, 2024 at 11:01 AM ^
Assuming Will Johnson actually truly knows, (big if) then you would think the most logical conclusion is that both are coming back. That'd be sweet!
Couldn't be mad if they both left though
January 12th, 2024 at 11:24 AM ^
Will Johnson probably intercepted the message at some point.
January 12th, 2024 at 1:13 PM ^
Well, he has demonstrated an ability to anticipate events before they happen.
January 12th, 2024 at 11:47 AM ^
Mr. Johnson is right!

Authentic frontier gibberish!

I really want Jim to come back because he's been great for Michigan football and college football in general.
But I will also completely revel in joy at how devastating this would be for certain other programs and their fanbases--namely OSU, Sparty and Penn State. He terrifies them.
January 12th, 2024 at 11:02 AM ^
Todd Anson, noted Harbaugh buddy, put it at above 70% they both come back on twitter...
I don't have anything to back this up but I don't think JJ is coming back without Jim. Announcement coming at the rally this weekend? Granted JJ has to decide before Monday and Jim has no timeline, but wouldn't it be beautiful to lock them both down and get to defending this title?
We shall see.
January 12th, 2024 at 11:11 AM ^
Think he ever says his name real fast when making restaurant reservations so people think he’s Ted Danson?
January 12th, 2024 at 12:00 PM ^
Ala Ted Hitchcock?
January 12th, 2024 at 1:04 PM ^
I honestly would do the opposite and use a fake name to avoid that situation myself.
My sons both have first names that sound like common last names, and having a Dutch last name that isn’t always well understood, I always pick one of theirs whenever I have to give a name in public.
January 12th, 2024 at 11:16 AM ^
I firmly believe Jim doesn't want the appearance that he was chased out by Pettiti, Baker or any of the douche bag coaches and AD's on the conference call with Pettiti. As long as he's being shown the love from the university, I think he stays.
January 12th, 2024 at 11:20 AM ^
Oh my God. Just thinking of the roar if Jim announces the extension at the parade followed by JJ returning as the torch-bearer between the last era and the next one. Wow.
They both have more than earned the right to do whatever they want and be cheered forever - but man, I hadn't even thought yet of the full heights this weekend might reach!
January 12th, 2024 at 12:36 PM ^
Yeah, I'd thought of what if Harbaugh announces he's staying during the event at Crisler? He could do it during the parade too, either would be awesome. And even better if JJ did the same. I don't necessarily expect it, but... it'd make an already amazing week/event even more epic.
January 12th, 2024 at 1:29 PM ^
I could see JJ announcing his return during the celebration but I don't see Jim doing it. I think he would view it as making it about him rather than the team and the team's accomplishments.
January 12th, 2024 at 11:02 AM ^
Don't give me hope.
January 13th, 2024 at 2:12 AM ^
I wish I could have given it sooner :)
January 12th, 2024 at 11:02 AM ^
I feel like JJ and Jim (and maybe a few other big names) will either say they're staying at the celebration on Saturday, or if they're leaving, they'll wait until afterwards to say. Timing would be awkward any other way.
January 12th, 2024 at 11:11 AM ^
Farewell tours exist for a reason.
Announcing you are off to other projects next year doesn't need to inhibit a celebration for accomplishing your ultimate mission this year.
January 12th, 2024 at 11:26 AM ^
might dampen the mood a bit, and Jim loves a parade.
