they asked him good…

they asked him good questions and he had good answers

i found it interesting and I'm not at all a Macafee fan

It hurtts, but in the way…

It hurtts, but in the way John Mellencamp sang about

This is a bigger gut punch…

This is a bigger gut punch than the Lions blowing the game last night

I am pretty sure he got…

I am pretty sure he got early snaps at the nickel, maybe in the spring game

Best case scenario for us is probably Berry ascending and playing nickel, McBurrows at CB2, and then the monster safety rotation

Either that, or Waller/Hill absolutely blowing up in fall camp

I am almost postive that…

I am almost postive that post-season games do not count, so if he played in 4 regular season games and 2 post-season games he would still be fine

Yeah all the people talking…

Yeah all the people talking about Davis as a freshmen while completely ignoring Davis Warren and Denegal to go with Orji is just crazy

I 100% agree with OP, bad…

I 100% agree with OP, bad spelling aside

Orji was like 3rd or 4th on the depth chart. That alone tells you quite a lot

He was behind Tuttle and Denegal, and potentially Warren, although injuries muddied the picture a bit

Yeah, they had a special package for him, but because of his running ability, not his throwing ability

the disparity is for 2…

the disparity is for 2 reasons why Lake Michigan is way more popular than Lake Huron side IMO

#1, by a fair margin, is that Lake Michigan has sand beaches, whereas Lake Huron has rocky beaches

#2 is that Lake Michigan side is much more accessible to Chicagoland vacationers, and there is a lot more tourist money for that reason alone. But also see #1

Have a QB competition in…

Have a QB competition in camp. Davis Warren or Orji would be my guess

Assuming Will Johnson…

Assuming Will Johnson actually truly knows, (big if) then you would think the most logical conclusion is that both are coming back. That'd be sweet!

Couldn't be mad if they both left though

sounds like a player safety…

sounds like a player safety issue to me

I am a big fan of this. As…

I am a big fan of this. As someone who played soccer forever, and then football... my kids won't be playing tackle football.

I'm also in favor of banning heading in soccer until at least age 12 as well.

I still remember being in middle school and practicing headers, and complaining that my head hurt and was ringing and feeling fuzzy.

All those impacts add up, and for a developing brain it's no bueno

I was convinced Zeke Berry…

I was convinced Zeke Berry was gonna be better than Sabb, looking like the opposite so far. Very impressed with Sabb

Anybody had any Berry updates? Were they keeping the RS for him, or did he get injured?

He also had about a million…

He also had about a million times to say he was back for sure and didn't

I'm just enjoying the night and the season. Anything else is just the cherry on top

They run like my kids run…

They run like my kids run. My kids do not have keys, or a wallet, or a phone. They do not have objects they carry around every day that represent demands, obligations, responsibilities. Mortgages, credit card balances, texts you have to answer from people you do not want to talk to.

Unlike my kids, they do have all of those objects, and all of those demands, obligations, and responsibilities. They've signed up for an order of magnitude more than their fair share by playing football at the University of Michigan™. But they do not seem burdened by it. They are joyful. They run like there is nothing in their pockets, nothing at all.

Brian, I believe that was perhaps some of your finest writing ever, and I'm glad you pulled it back out now. Prescient

Cheers everyone! Go BLUE!

Seems sorta crazy, but just like in real job markets, the best way to get paid more is to switch jobs

And guys that are in it for the bag are gonna always be in it for the bag

Personally I am pretty happy with how we seem to be employing NIL and building our team culture

After reviewing various…

After reviewing various fancy stats and watching the highlights of the Texas-Washington game, I am feeling pretty good about our offense vs their defense. Texas obliterated them on the ground, and left some wide open lanes for Ewers to scramble. We should be able to slice and dice them both through the ground and the air. We'll be our own worst enemy most likely.

Defensively, I am definitely terrified of Penix and their WRs. Hopefully we'll be able to confuse with our pro style defense and get Penix off-platform with some creative blitzes. I don't think they've seen anything like our defense this year. But similarly, we have not faced anything like their offense either. Their skill guys in total are better than OSU's by some margin IMO, and their pass pro is too.

I'll say Michigan 38, Washington 27

There's been quite a bit of…

There's been quite a bit of press on it

was supposed to be ribs with my family, but inlaws we are staying with got covid so now I have the privilege of hosting Christmas dinner for them

Pulled together a beef tenderloin, horseradish mushroom gravy, and salad.  plus lots of alcohol to tolerate the inlaws

I hate single-purpose space…

I hate single-purpose space hoggers so I was prepared to hate our air fryer when the wife bought one on a whim

I love it. It's fantastic for french fries, reheating stuff, anything you want crisped/browned it does a better and quicker job than the oven. We eat a lot of meatballs and it's amazing for cooking them

Downsides are it's small so can't do large projects, and cleaning is annoying, along with taking up counter space

Lincoln Kienholtz or Devin Brown

Wow the Dylan Raiola flip…

Wow the Dylan Raiola flip would be huge for them

Even if Edwards goes pro, I…

Even if Edwards goes pro, I would guess next year's top 3 is a combo of Mullings, Hall, and Marshall

Well we're barely into…

Well we're barely into December and I have zero interest in watching this team. It's just not enjoyable

They don't play consistent. They are sloppy. The effort isn't there.

I don't really care that they are losing so much as it's just frustrating and not enjoyable to watch.

I think we need to make a coaching change

It doesn't *really* work…

It doesn't *really* work that way.

To some degree, it IS hard to execute your concepts if they keep getting blown up. Like, say you are trying to work on a 7 step drop, but you can't because your OL is so bad that it keeps getting blown up in 11 v 11 periods, and your QB never has time to throw and work on the timing

But in reality, offenses practice on air a lot of the time, or in 7 v 7. And mostly they go against a scout team

Iowa's two main issues are skill and scheme. Their scheme is horrendous. It doesn't get receivers open, it is predictable and unimaginative. There's very little misdirection. There's very little attempt to build in constraints to their main plays.

And their talent is abysmal. For example, their WRs are maybe the worst I have ever seen at a P5 level. They rarely get open, and they have a 15-20% drop rate. Literally. That's just insane.

Their QB play is horrendous. They don't see the field well. Even when clean in the pocket they have been very inaccurate.

They used to scrape by with good OL and TE play, and competent if workmanlike QB play. Now all they have left is TEs and average RBs, but the OL and QB play hold back anything else, and even if they do by some miracle get open WRs, they drop it way too much

69% chance Michigan wins…

69% chance Michigan wins. Nice

Yeah MSU is coming out of…

Yeah MSU is coming out of this season in a much better place. Hate to see it

He was always pretty…

He was always pretty underwhelming. Only 270 yards this year.

I doubt they skip a beat in their WR room due to this. They have a ton of young talent coming up and Fleming was very meh outside his blocking

Absolute BS that FSU got…

Absolute BS that FSU got robbed

Also hate to play Bama, would much rather have played FSU, Texas, or Washington

Michigan - FSU

Michigan - FSU

Washington - Texas

That'd be the dream

Unfortunately I think it'll be Michigan - Bama, Washington - Texas

Worried about OL in the…

Worried about OL in the playoffs. Losing Zinter sucks on several levels

I don't think we brought out a big bag of tricks tonight though

Looking at his Hudl film he…

Looking at his Hudl film he sure likes contact. Doesn't look like he played great competition judging by some of the highlights. I like that he plays multiple positions. Gotta trust the staff with their track record at this point

Take care of the ball on…

Take care of the ball on offense

Keep everything in front of them in the secondary

Suffocate their running game

If ever there was a game to play it conservative and sit on a 14 point lead and bleed clock, this is it. Get the W, the trophy, and get out healthy

I heard it may not be likely…

I heard it may not be likely that he follows Smith to MSU, his family was posting anti-Smith stuff on social media

No way. It might slightly…

No way. It might slightly upgrade RT, or be a push

But Zinter is one of the best OGs in the nation. Barnhart is solid but Zinter is in a class of his own

Iowa won't be able to move…

Iowa won't be able to move the ball at ALL on us. Will Johnson or not.

The only real question is how wide open we make the offense and how the OL does sans Zinter. I think 31-3 is about right

You can say what you want…

You can say what you want about Ryan Day and his actions regarding our program but he's a stand-up guy that cares about his players, has them play clean, and he is a big outspoken supporter of mental health. That was a class act

I don't like Ryan Day the OSU head coach but I respect the person

I don't go for wasting my…

I don't go for wasting my money on crazy overpriced stuff that fanboys have turned into unicorns. Absolutely bonkers what the hype has done to some simply above-average bottles

I generally go for widely available but good for its price point stuff

like

Woodford Double Oaked

Rare Breed and 101

Old Forester 1920

Evan Williams Bonded

Four Roses Single Barrel

Rittenhouse Rye

I'm not worried about the…

I'm not worried about the playcalling at all. JJ doesn't shit the bed and puts loft on the red zone at the end of the first half, that's 7 pts

He hits a wide open CJ that's another 7 and we're talking about a 21 point win

I'm much more worried about our offensive line health/depth, and making sure JJ is healthy too. Something seemed off with him today

Mike Barrett

zero…

Mike Barrett

zero question at all. He can play all 11 positions, plus every special team position too

Badger my ass. It's probably…

Badger my ass. It's probably Milhouse

it's also really freakin…

it's also really freakin easy to fulfill a FOIA request of this nature. It takes about a minute to check to see if someone's submitted expense reports, and if they haven't - there's nothing further to look at.

Unlike a request that might require digging through thousands of emails, submissions, etc.

to be fair, one of my good…

to be fair, one of my good friends is related to one of the kids (student with some sort of tangential internship to the football program) caught up in going to the opposing team games... and he said his relative was "offered immunity" to just tell the truth to investigators. It sounded like by the university though, not the NCAA. Not sure what punishment the NCAA would levy on a rando kid

I could see how something like that could get turned into a rumor like you are mentioning

All I know is that if it was…

All I know is that if it was indeed Stalions and they haven't already come out and said he had unauthorized access.... it strongly suggests it was at the behest of someone on CMU, rather than Michigan

Would make sense if they had…

Would make sense if they had not heard anything yet. Until hearing otherwise he's not allowed there

That seems...incredibly…

That seems...incredibly stupid at best

wtf?
