Update from Sam Webb on Dante Moore
Sam Webb posted a “Real Recognize Real” update on Dante Moore, the former top QB recruiting target for Michigan now leaving UCLA. For the full details, subscribe to 247, but Sam spoke to Moore’s dad, who insists that Moore is looking for a place where he’ll be developed, and where the OL will protect him.
Webb believes that Michigan has a real chance here, especially with Campbell replacing Weiss as QB coach. More details at 247.

Underwood is getting $5 million from LSU plus moving costs for his family, according to Twitter.
December 1st, 2023 at 5:36 PM ^
Seriously? Yea no chance UM is doing that..I am suprised that is being posted (if the #s, etc are true) Who is saying that?
December 1st, 2023 at 5:45 PM ^
Maybe that’s the offer. Talked to him yesterday and he said he didn’t know what the choice was yet. He is a great kid and has all the attention and is humbled by it. My guess is he is weighing a lot of great “offers” but is also a Michigan fan. I think we have a good shot at least.
December 1st, 2023 at 5:53 PM ^
I would take a Michigan degree and the pride of playing for the winningest team in college football over 5 mil at LSU (and I don't even hate the school).
It's not like money won't be made here, not to mention Brian Kelly is cringe.
December 1st, 2023 at 6:22 PM ^
C'mon man, a school offers you 5M UPFRONT as a 16/17 year old kid to play football, and you would do what? Let's be real.
December 1st, 2023 at 7:00 PM ^
He's going to make a lot of money here.
December 1st, 2023 at 6:22 PM ^
$5 million is simply worth less than a Michigan degree if his football career doesn't work out. Michigan's pitch works for a certain type of player, and he's probably not it.
December 1st, 2023 at 8:18 PM ^
Lol no it's not. According to PayScale the 20-year ROI on a Michigan degree is $710,000. LSU's is $501,000. So the additional benefit of a Michigan degree is, on average, $209,000 over 20 years. Not even in the same ballpark as $5 million.
December 1st, 2023 at 11:05 PM ^
As much as I love Michigan, that's a ridiculous statement. With the $5 million you have a bunch of money to invest and if you do it right you'll never have to hold a regular job if you don't want to. You can go the Blake Corum route and invest in real estate or a small business or just stocks.
And even if it was much less than $5 million, you are given more than enough to attend grad school at Michigan after attending LSU. Once you go to grad school your undergrad matters much less.
The case for Underwood to stay local is that, long-term, being the hometown hero is worth much more in NIL deals than what he'll get out of LSU. If he does well at LSU but doesn't win a championship, there's no long-term NIL. All he has to do is start at some point at Michigan and he'll be making NIL money the rest of his life.
Also, Brian Kelly sucks.
December 1st, 2023 at 6:38 PM ^
He can make $5 million right away going to LSU, or make hundreds of millions in the NFL being developed at Michigan. I get Michigan has not had a track record of developing a lot of quarterbacks to make millions in the NFL this century, but they have never had a quarterback the talent level of Dante Moore.
December 1st, 2023 at 7:00 PM ^
A Michigan degree is not worth $5 million up front at 18. Lots of people from other schools are successful.
December 1st, 2023 at 7:57 PM ^
No it's not. And it's not as if he's attending Wastenaw Community College (no offense WCC) - LSU is a decent school. Pay me my 5M and I'll figure out the rest.
December 1st, 2023 at 8:19 PM ^
Of course they are, but his family's in Michigan, connections and career likely lie closer to home. A Michigan degree and recognition by Michiganders will get him farther in life than the guy that spurned MSU and UM.
December 1st, 2023 at 8:23 PM ^
If he's intelligent he'll recognize the NFL isn't a sure thing. For most players, that means going to a school like Michigan is the right choice because the degree is worth something in case football doesn't work out as a career. However, that something is way less than $5 million. Take the money, invest it intelligently, get a degree (or 2, if getting a masters on a grad year) from pretty much any university, and you're set for life in a way not even a Harvard degree guarantees.
December 1st, 2023 at 9:06 PM ^
LOL throw that $5M into a CD for for 60 years even at 5% and its going to dwarf UM degree v LSU degree. Like ANY of these guys are being hired at ANY job due to degree. Some rich alum will pay these guys to be in sales at $400K a year for being nothing but a charming fella. You are thinking like these guys are nobody random guys who graduate who no one knows their name.
Ishbia is paying alleged rapist Cleeves through the nose to do nothing at United Mortgage. Do you think random 2002 MSU graduate would get that money? Cmon man.
December 1st, 2023 at 10:18 PM ^
Dante isn’t getting paid millions by anyone. He was awful this year. I doubt LSU is even interester.
December 1st, 2023 at 10:51 PM ^
You have to be joking. Most Michigan grads won’t see 5 Million dollars in a lifetime. I’m sorry, my wife and I both have Michigan degrees and would send my kid there in a heartbeat 5 million. Then he could pay his way through Michigan and have change left.
December 1st, 2023 at 6:03 PM ^
2nd choice per usual
December 1st, 2023 at 5:47 PM ^
MichiganNation2 is my preferred source.
December 1st, 2023 at 5:58 PM ^
MichiganNation2’s credibility is suspect.
Although in this instance I believe the offer is real.
December 1st, 2023 at 6:12 PM ^
Never heard of MichiganNation2, but they blocked me.
December 1st, 2023 at 6:43 PM ^
Take that as a compliment
December 1st, 2023 at 5:56 PM ^
Second chances are good. Come on down
December 1st, 2023 at 5:08 PM ^
Sounds great. Trust the coaches to figure out if it's a cultural fit. Thanks for posting !
December 1st, 2023 at 5:10 PM ^
Interesting, as I heard a rumor somewhere yesterday that Dante Moore had entered the portal.
December 1st, 2023 at 5:12 PM ^
I'd be down for it as long as Jadyn Davis stays blue. Wouldnt want Moore, a guy who chose against us, to drive away a guy who chose us first. Going from JJ>Moore>Davis could be really good if those two live up to the hype.
But I assume Moore is going to chase another bag and Michigan isnt going to pay him upfront.
December 1st, 2023 at 5:12 PM ^
Based upon Dante’s post (wants to be developed, rabid fan base, etc) and the need for a blood sacrifice, I wouldn’t be surprised if Day blows out McCord and makes a serious play for Moore.
December 1st, 2023 at 5:18 PM ^
That's what I'm waiting for. DJ Ukulele following his old coach to MSU and Moore heading to OSU would NOT be the best thing for Michigan.
December 1st, 2023 at 5:29 PM ^
Day wont take Moore. If Day were to take a QB transfer it would be a 1 year deal for a proven QB but OSU insiders say even that is unlikely. A multi-year 5 star transfer would screw up Keinholz and Noland's natural line of succession.
If Day cant find a starter out of Noland, Keinholz, Brown, and McCord then he really sucks.
December 1st, 2023 at 5:39 PM ^
Cam Ward...he is in portal..
December 1st, 2023 at 5:52 PM ^
I’d argue there is no longer a line of succession. Day either wins next year or he’s done. #MercenaryTime
December 1st, 2023 at 5:37 PM ^
DJ isn't bad by any means, but he's not exactly scary IMO. Below 60% passer for starters.
December 1st, 2023 at 6:31 PM ^
Watch him.
He's not good.
He's basically Taulia Tagovailoa. An agent of chaos.
December 1st, 2023 at 6:42 PM ^
No way in hell DJ wastes his last year, his contract year so to speak, in the talent-less cesspool that is East Lansing.
December 1st, 2023 at 5:21 PM ^
A question if I may. Do you think they really develop talent in Columbus - or, do they just recruit it and let it play.
McCord made a number of solid throws on Saturday - and, yes - there’s a solid / very good receiving corps. Two turnovers - but, Stroud turned it over last year in Columbus too.
December 1st, 2023 at 5:27 PM ^
C.J. Stroud was a two-time Heisman finalist in 2021 and 2022. Justin Fields was a finalist in 2019. Dwayne Haskins was a finalist in 2018.
December 1st, 2023 at 6:55 PM ^
As long as these QBs arent playing an NFL style defense (U of M) or an actual NFL defense they are fantastic.
December 1st, 2023 at 5:29 PM ^
He made solid throws because he wasn't under much duress. Anytime our rush or dline got close he started hurrying his throws or making bad reads. I don't think he's a bad qb per se but he is going to receive a lion's share of criticism when compared to Stroud, Fields, or many other recent buckeye QBs
December 1st, 2023 at 5:32 PM ^
I think the McCord backlash at OSU will have ramifications down the road as far as QB recruiting. I HATE Ohio State yet somehow feel bad for McCord.
December 1st, 2023 at 6:32 PM ^
He's a good QB. Unfortunately, you have to go back alot of years to find average QB play at OSU. They have had a very long run of great college QB's. I think he will be much better next year.
December 1st, 2023 at 5:13 PM ^
Did he end up being any good?

December 1st, 2023 at 5:20 PM ^
He’s got talent, but Kelly threw him directly into the fire with no development, no really good skill players around him, and no OL that could protect him. And then didn’t turn the buss away when it inevitably caught up to him. I don’t blame him for wanting out.
And also, I don’t really blame Kelly for expecting a lot when he had to pay top dollar to get him.
December 1st, 2023 at 5:25 PM ^
Showed the arm talent against the non-con, showed the freshman brain against everyone else. Could be good with another year of coaching and an offensive line, running game, and defense to make his job easier.
December 1st, 2023 at 5:18 PM ^
Guy who wanted playing time and NIL is probably gonna end up wanting playing time and NIL

What happened to Davis Warren this year? Was he injured??
December 1st, 2023 at 5:28 PM ^
Wasn't very good. It was weird that Davis Warren didn't at least get mop up 4th quarter snaps at some point. Oriji and Denegal were ahead of Warren.
December 1st, 2023 at 5:50 PM ^
He was injured somewhere around mid-season - Minnesota, maybe? Was regularly on the injury report.
Edit to include more information:
Davis Warren's injury report
Michigan's third-straight (sic) quarterback, Davis Warren, is questionable to suit up with an undisclosed injury. Warren hasn't seen game action since Sept. 30.
December 1st, 2023 at 6:03 PM ^
I asked this question on another thread and someone (I can't remember who) said he was injured in the Nebraska game - which I don't remember. I think that likely and is why we haven't seen him at all in mop up duty since then.
December 1st, 2023 at 5:22 PM ^
At first I was thinking he should go to Oregon, but I forgot about all this realignment nonsense. How about this. Transfer to LSU and send Underwood back to us. All will be forgiven on both fronts.
