Tom Allen made a huge mistake when DeBoer took the Fresno St job. He promoted Nick Sheridan to OC and their offenses are getting progressively worse despite the talent level being solid.

Defense is still good. But offense is costing them games

I didn't think it was a great game called by Sheridan. Indiana had several three and outs and their passing game is pretty vanilla. Obviously Penix' decision making is a problem. But I think it shows his lack of development as that was a problem as an underclassmen. Offense has been trending down since DeBoer left. And they haven't topped 400 yards of total offense in any of their three games this year. 7 turnovers in the two games against legit competition tells me its more than just a player problem.

Replacing assistants that leave is one of the biggest jobs coaches have.  Finding top assistants and keeping eyes out for teams and how position groups play is a huge job for coaches.

Hard to believe how far back they are now from where they were last year.  Their RB’s are not near as good as last few years!  Offense had creativity at times with some excellent play calls.  Just not sure Sheridan is ready to be the sole coordinator without an experienced guy next to him or at least as an analyst to guide him.

What is it with Indiana and their crazy coaches - Bobby Knight, Tom Crean, & Tom Allen.  May as well throw Lee Corso in for good measure. He lost his mind when Lawrence Reid "fumbled" the ball out of bounds in 1979.

Allen's whinging in his post game presser was not a good look.  He said the lesson from having a player tossed for targeting that he shared with his team was that life is not fair, and then he went on to say that that play (and action by the refs) was the reason they lost.

It's Indiana, theyre not gonna be good every year just like Northwestern.

Also Cincinnati is a very good team and Fickell will eventually have a big job, despite so many on here who want to hang onto him being a 38 year old interm at OSU for one year that was missing a bunch of players.

Early season "upsets" of teams expected to be good this year because they were good in 2020 is showing me that last season was weirder than usual. Weird things that happened last year don't necessarily change the overall posture of a program.

Iowa and Kirk Ferentz have two big wins: first with Indiana, then with Matt Campbell and Iowa St. Both were unusually good last year, and both appear to be quickly back to their middling historical status. People thought Miami was back after 8-3 in 2020, and they just lost at home to MSU.

Meanwhile, Penn St and Michigan were pretty bad last year and after a few weeks are in the SP+ top 10. Whatever issues they had last year, seem to speak more to the difficulties of a pandemic season than issues with the programs in general.

He’s obviously a solid coach and got a few gift turnovers but gave more gift turnovers as well vs UC.

Allen as a coach, biggest job is hiring and replacing good assistant coaches with more good assistant coaches.  He lost several after last season and the new ones haven’t stepped in at the same level.  Maybe they will be fine as the season goes and next year but right now it’s a step down.

Spent a little time at The Wolverine and every thread is like this...it's awful.

Tom Allen, are you kidding? And then it's not even anything about Tom Allen? This is painfully bad.

First, to the OP - I ask this politely as a moderator here:

What the fuck is the point of this post?

Second, Tom Allen can take a long walk off a short pier. He fields dirty teams, and there ends the conversation, IMHO.
