It's always been my contention that this is Michigan's worst loss. App State was a excellent football team in the process of winning it's National Championship for the third straight year.
That was the plan. They had Tom Moore, architect of the Colts offense that Manning ran, come in and consult during the off season. Injuries to Henne, Hart and others derailed the plan for the regular season. And of course they thought they could get by App State without unveiling the new scheme.
Actually the concept was stolen from an old Heinlein book from the early fifties called The Rolling Stones. The critters in the book were little fur balls called martian flat cats.
