Players have always been getting paid. Michigan wasn’t going to operate like an SEC school so this at least helps somewhat level the playing field. I don’t think Michigan wins a national title without NIL. In that respect I am glad it happened, but yeah the whole thing is ridiculous and schools still aren’t following the rules. Next few years of big time college athletics will be interesting.

Izzo is a bully. He bullies the officials and he bullies his own players because he knows they won’t fight back. There was a women’s basketball coach who was criticized for the way she was acting during games in the tournament last year. Can’t remember who it was, but Izzo does the same crap every single game and gets a pass. The Stockholm Syndrome surrounding him is beyond ridiculous. All this for a guy who has the same number of national titles as Tubby Smith or Steve Fisher.
Meyer made some comments regarding NIL and the transfer portal. Basically made it sound like something he didn’t want to deal with. He probably doesn’t want to have to compete on a more level playing field.
As others have pointed out I think Howard should have taken more time off after his surgery. In January of 2023 I had a surgery similar to the one Howard had I am six years younger. I went back to work in 3 months but it was probably close to one year before I really felt back to normal.
Agree on Gattis. Wide receivers definitely seemed better coached under Gattis and for the first time in awhile didn’t appear to have as much trouble getting open.
Sad to say I don’t even know the basketball schedule anymore. I would wager there are a number of normally engaged fans that have basically given up. When it gets to that point it is time to make a change.
McAffe had some good stuff after Michigan beat Bama. Kind of difficult not to at that point. ESPN spent two months trying to keep Michigan out of the playoff, but they completely pivoted after Michigan won the Rose Bowl. After Michigan won the national title even Pete Finebaum had good things to say.
I was actually thinking the same thing. Howard should be fired now, but he damn well better be at the end of the season. He cannot be given another season when we can all see that nothing will change. I feel like I am taking crazy pills.
So Warde is going to let Howard completely blowup the basketball program, but let Harbaugh walk? Ono needs to take control of this situation now! I am so tired of seeing the same damn things at the end of every close game.
I am in my mid 40s and as far back as I can remember bowl games have been a shitshow for Michigan, with few exceptions. The meltdown against South Carolina a few years ago was the last straw. I haven’t watched one since.
In the OSU game neither team was called for holding. Refs seemed fine with letting the teams play. I believe OSU had one penalty and Michigan had three. Although the last one was a celebration penalty after the game ending INT so really two penalties.
Yeah where is everyone with player safety and sportsmanship issues now? I still say Michigan needs to leave the Big Ten. That toilet bug Petitie won’t have any comment as he probably encouraged Bama to do this.
I thought the basketball program needed a reset…..but I really have no words.

Obviously a small sample size but the team seemed to play better at the beginning of the season when Howard was not on the bench.
