Jace Howard Signs Deal with Lululemon
Good for him!

I'm a big fan

Congrats Jace. Get paid
August 11th, 2021 at 11:01 AM ^
I'm gonna go out and get me some yoga pants right now!
(They sell other things?)

Didn't Harbaugh permanently switch to Lululemon khakis after someone gave him a pair? Sort of ruined the narrative of the steak and milk guy who only wears $12 khakis from Walmart, but they must be pretty good pants. I'm Lululemon-curious.*
*I work from home like so many people these days and have been alternating two pairs of shorts for the past 3 years. I have no need of grown-up pants.
August 11th, 2021 at 11:21 AM ^
My brother convinced me to buy a pair of these chinos a few years ago. They are super comfortable, light, and breathable which is perfect for the heat down here. I just don't like dropping that much for a pair of pants, but I'd definitely do it again.
August 11th, 2021 at 11:38 AM ^
For $128 + tax + shipping, I can just not wear pants at all and pay the fine for not wearing pants in public.
August 11th, 2021 at 11:56 AM ^
Luckily I didn't have to pay shipping. That would've been a deal breaker.
The only thing I hated more than paying that much for pants is wearing pants. I'm not sure if it's my build--medium waist (32-33), fairly thick thighs, and I won't even mention my package ?--but I can never find a pair of pants that feel good. They are either too tight and constricting, which I fucking hate, or too loose and look ridiculous. For some reason, these fit perfectly and have a little stretch that makes them super comfortable.
August 11th, 2021 at 1:37 PM ^
MC Hammer might just tell you to shut your lyin' mouth about loose and ridiculous pants!
August 11th, 2021 at 3:57 PM ^
Sinbad would also like a word.

Had this problem my whole life as i have huge thighs wrt my waist and height. Found some levis to work well, went to the store and explained the issues. I needed a waist that fits, upsize in the girdle/saddle, and the thighs needed to run larger too. And I don't wear tapered pants or skinny jeans for this same reason, so I felt concerned that I would be stuck with pants that fit my legs and deal with how to get them to stay up on my waist etc. They have stuff out there for people like this, and again, my luck was with Levi at an outlet store. Happy to spend south of $50 on a pair of jeans that I expect to last me the next decade or so, especially if it fits like pants are supposed to
August 11th, 2021 at 7:56 PM ^
Thanks for the tip. I'll have to look into some Levis. Good fitting jeans are especially difficult for me to find.
August 11th, 2021 at 4:13 PM ^
Pants in general, and jeans specifically, reached their peak in the late 90's. It's been skinnier, shorter, and all downhill since then.
August 11th, 2021 at 11:45 AM ^
Do they have a big and tall section?
August 11th, 2021 at 1:14 PM ^
They have pants with a 37" inseam... does that count? Best fit I've found as a relatively slim 6'6" guy, but their waist sizes have the usual range.

Lemme guess: You guys like long walks on the beach...

Can fully endorse the Lulu pants Harbaugh wears. I have a couple of the ABC Pants (chinos) and joggers. Most comfortable work pants I own. They're not super dressy but work for every day office attire. Can wear them with a sport coat and look good, too.
August 11th, 2021 at 1:17 PM ^
That switch to Lululemon from Walmart is definitely one of the reasons Michigan can't beat OSU. It makes slightly more sense than the recent take of Jarrett Irons:

Whether it's Lululemon or some other brand, all I'm saying is that stretchy pants is a gamechanger. I have slightly stretchy jeans and khakis and they are amazing. I was skeptical when my wife bought me a pair of stretchy jeans, but they are so comfortable when bending down. I highly and whole-heartedly recommend pants with 4-way stretch.
August 12th, 2021 at 7:31 AM ^
Agreed. I love blends for all my clothes, from tri-blend tshirts to elastine blend jeans. It makes clothes super soft. As I've gotten older, I've placed a lot more priority on how soft and comfortable clothing is.
Honestly, 100% cotton clothing will never be as soft as blended stuff. And it doesn't shrink like 100% cotton.

At this point, being a Lululemon hater is just silly. If you truly can't afford it, fine (but I bet you blow money on worse stuff) but it's legitimately top notch. Their dress pants being the top of the list. They look as good as any dress slacks you were (short of a full suit) and you could wear them directly to the gym and do squats in them. You could wear them to bed as pajamas. They're amazing. Yeah, they're $128. You don't need to buy 10 pair. But they also come out of the dryer wrinkle free. 10/10, highly recommend.
August 11th, 2021 at 11:31 AM ^
Awesome.
Please nobody on here argue against "the rich getting richer" yet for NIL.
Otherwise, you're a hypocrite.
Go Blue.
August 11th, 2021 at 11:46 AM ^
That might be the case. But you'd have to do more than assert it to prove it. So far I'm seeing lots about kids from the biggest schools signing deals. Why don't you begin your defense there, work your way up. . . Because you can count me among those who recognizes that the kids were massively exploited but still sees the general trend as a kind of race to the bottom. . . of a certain kind of pretty sad--and once the novelty wears thin, pretty uninteresting--groveling for the almighty dollar. He looks good in that outfit, btw.
August 11th, 2021 at 12:55 PM ^
I mean, the kid's dad is pretty rich...
August 11th, 2021 at 1:31 PM ^
I heard Juwan cut off everybody's allowances when NIL came out.
August 11th, 2021 at 11:36 AM ^
All I can picture is garishly patterned yoga pants form fitting a young man. This is not a visual I wanted (nttawwt).
August 11th, 2021 at 11:36 AM ^
Didn't know Jace was that into citrus.
August 11th, 2021 at 11:37 AM ^
I was a lululemon hater for years, didn't understand why anybody would pay that much for athletic apparel.
Got a pair of ABC pants as a gift and now I'm hooked. Would HIGHLY recommend any lululemon pants for guys (shorts are great too - comfortable and can use for anything from casual wear to golf). So comfortable even compared to jeans.

LuluLemon men's apparel was a hidden secret for a while but I feel like people are starting to catch on. Expensive, but worth it
August 11th, 2021 at 1:19 PM ^
I've heard the same from too many people for it to not be true but haven't explored that brand myself yet.
August 11th, 2021 at 1:40 PM ^
Oh good, I thought this was my private dirty secret. I am not really a big fashion person at all, but I have a pair of their trousers and they're my favorite pair of pants I've ever owned. Light, comfortable, versatile, and stylish, and something I always make sure to pack whenever I travel.
Obviously, I don't love the price tag which is why I only have the one pair. I wouldn't mind another, and pursuant to that, a gal I know from the dog park works for them and she said they will often have We Made Too Much sales, but you generally won't find popular colors like black and slate for sale.
August 11th, 2021 at 3:19 PM ^
I was on the fence about Lululemon.
First off the name looks and sounds goofy to me and I heard they're pricey.
After hearing all the positive responses from this thread I'm going to check them out. I will attribute the sale to Jace. He's already earning his money from Lululemon.
August 11th, 2021 at 3:27 PM ^
They're very pricy, yes, and it's why I hesitated a lot before buying a pair since I am not swimming in disposable income unlike most OSU football players.
Now, I really enjoyed mine a lot and based on my experience would say at least try a pair on, but if it's not for you that's fine! You and everyone else already have perfectly acceptable pants we are wearing at this moment* and have other things we could spend money on.
* loljk, no one actually wears pants while surfing the mgoforum
August 11th, 2021 at 11:44 AM ^
Thought Lululemon was lame until I started wearing some of their stuff. I love it. Their shorts are amazing. Their shirts actually wick sweat and work.
August 11th, 2021 at 12:08 PM ^
I live in Fort Myers, Florida.. my wardrobe consists of shorts and tees.. one dress pair of pants and one pair of jeans.. All for $128
August 11th, 2021 at 1:32 PM ^
I live in a van down by the river.
Not even 128 bucks.
August 11th, 2021 at 12:13 PM ^
Some of the most comfortable stuff I own is from their store down the road.
August 11th, 2021 at 12:56 PM ^
Can someone please explain to me what Lululemon would want with Jace Howard?
August 11th, 2021 at 1:11 PM ^
Is this question serious? Exposure. I mean, you're literally living - in this very thread - what Lululemon wanted out of Jace Howard: a bunch of advocates discussing how much they like their ABC pants to thousands of athletically oriented (or at least interested), predominantly male, eyeballs on a Michigan sports blog.
August 11th, 2021 at 1:21 PM ^
His face is on television a lot, and he’s the most expressive and charismatic of the Bench Mob. The cameras focus on Jace’s face during bench celebrations usually at least twice per game. There’s probably some publicity opportunity.
But I hear you. It’s not like he’ll be able to wear Lululemon during the games.
August 11th, 2021 at 2:30 PM ^
It's pretty straightforward, I think. They're betting that he'll be a high profile player on a prominent college basketball team and that he will help them sell their line of men's clothing. If he goes on to play in the NBA, even better. If not, well, they hope to get their money's worth while's playing at Michigan.
Could signing Jace be a bad idea for Lululemon? Of course. It's advertising, though. A lot of advertising is a bad idea, but that doesn't seem to stop anyone. However, it's not clear to me from the tweet how much they're actually paying him; depending on how much money he's getting, this could be a bargain for them. (Or not.)
I think we're going to see roughly two broad types of NIL signings. The first is obviously advertising. The second is the legalized version of the bag man. Having said that, though, there's gonna be a lot of overlap. If you're paying a kid so he plays at your school, why wouldn't you use him to advertise your product?
August 11th, 2021 at 12:56 PM ^
Go get paid, young man.
Great products. They're definitely pricey, but the gym shirts I have from them are easily the best ones I have.
August 11th, 2021 at 1:03 PM ^
Price notwithstanding for a moment, Lululemon is pretty damn comfortable. I can on occasion be found wasting a moment - or indeed some money - at the store on Washtenaw Avenue in Ann Arbor.
August 11th, 2021 at 1:05 PM ^
Wonder if this is going to be a thing for multiple Michigan guys as Michigan now (I think) has an apparel contract with LuluLemon which release at the MDen in a few weeks
August 11th, 2021 at 1:11 PM ^
I think you're right, I'd be surprised if it wasn't a thing based on the MDen partnership.
I don't need a closet full of Lululemon stuff, but the things I do own are incredibly comfortable so I'm very interested in what a U-M themed line will look like. Not a big fan of clothes with big logos and/or text, so I'm hoping it's understated enough that I wouldn't feel weird wearing it to work.
August 11th, 2021 at 1:39 PM ^

Lululemon does a good job of not plastering their logo everywhere on their apparel so I'm hoping they make their Michigan apparel similar and don't just slap "MICHIGAN" or a block-M over the chest. Honestly excited to see what they come out with
August 11th, 2021 at 1:49 PM ^
Getting into the "college girl and mom" brand is a smart business plan.
August 11th, 2021 at 2:37 PM ^
Damn, Jace looks even more ripped since I last saw him in the spring.
