Please please go get Joe Brady!!
October 31st, 2020 at 10:32 PM ^
Dont care who they get. Just try someone else. There’s really nothing to lose.
November 1st, 2020 at 1:04 AM ^
I suggested Brent Venables as a great replacement for Harbaugh after Florida embarrassed us in January of last year. This board shredded me for that opinion. I stand by my opinion!
November 1st, 2020 at 1:39 AM ^
If Brent wanted to be a HC by now he would’ve been.
November 1st, 2020 at 5:15 PM ^
Brent said recently that it is time for him to become a head coach.
November 1st, 2020 at 2:07 AM ^
Venables has his dream job. Doesn’t have to work hard to recruit and coaches his sons. He’s what Don Brown aspires to be.
October 31st, 2020 at 10:32 PM ^
I... actually agree with this
October 31st, 2020 at 10:33 PM ^
Sure looked great putting up 17 in that slog on Thursday night
It's not about xs and os, it's jimmies and joes

I like Gattis. Scheme is great! We need a new DC though.
October 31st, 2020 at 10:43 PM ^
Did Gattis call that wildcat garbage?
October 31st, 2020 at 11:28 PM ^
Gattis, or whoever called the Army stinker and today’s abomination, isn’t the answer.
November 1st, 2020 at 12:46 AM ^
Gattis gagged this one.
October 31st, 2020 at 10:39 PM ^
It’s about the QB. Gotta find a guy who can get more out of this position. Why not Brady who in 1 year had Burrow playing best of any college QB ever! Bridgewater has been decent this year. They have played well since Mcaf went out, not much talent on that team.
October 31st, 2020 at 10:43 PM ^
Starting to think Greg Roman was than brains behind the entire Harbaugh rise. And then Vic Fangio took it to the next level with his defense in San Fran.
Fangio's 49ers and Bears defenses were elite, and you can see what Roman is doing with Lamar Jackson and Baltimore.
October 31st, 2020 at 10:54 PM ^
This. Remember when we all said Roman would be a “meh” OC if he came with Harbaugh? Turns out it probably was the home run hire we needed even if coming as an OC. Damn we are all dumb then.
November 1st, 2020 at 12:40 AM ^
Honestly, Jedd Fisch was pretty solid.
November 1st, 2020 at 12:07 AM ^
Roman and Fangio were one of the reasons that I was stoked about the Harbaugh hire. I was disappointed that they didn't come with him.
November 1st, 2020 at 10:31 AM ^
Folks, this isn't about assistant coaches. Last week Warinner was the best. This week the OL doesn't show up. Along with everyone else. I've been behind Harbaugh all along but eventually it ain't about the underlings. The team underperforming, especially in key games, has been a consistent feature of Harbaugh's tenure and after six years it is what it is.
October 31st, 2020 at 10:53 PM ^
Why does everyone just throw out the hot OC name for the solution when they dislike their head coach? Last time Michigan did that, they welcomed the RichRod era. Good times.
Could he be the answer? I guess. But so could about 150 other names. That's what an interview process is about.
October 31st, 2020 at 10:59 PM ^
I can give you 7.5 million reasons why...
October 31st, 2020 at 11:15 PM ^
Thats a lot of shekels
October 31st, 2020 at 11:10 PM ^
RR defense was terrible but another year and the offense was going to be pretty damn good.
October 31st, 2020 at 11:14 PM ^
You're deluding yourself
October 31st, 2020 at 11:35 PM ^
And if he was only the OC, I'd be right there with you. But he was the Head Coach meaning he's responsible for that terrible defense.
Rich Rod is one of the few coaches where you can truly identify the absolute peak of his career--kickoff before the 2007 WVU-Pitt game.
October 31st, 2020 at 11:38 PM ^
RichRod was the Head Coach at West Virginia. He wasn’t the OC of a championship team. There’s a team just to the south of us who hired their oc to take over and they seem to be doing just fine.
I’m okay with keeping Harbaugh and completely overhauling the rest of the staff, including Dudek. Every single hire will be someone young, hungry, and they need to be Great recruiters. Look at osu, almost every single position Coach is a top recruiter. Coombs isn’t young, but he’s energetic and a great recruiter, Brian Hartline, great recruiter. Al Washington, great recruiter. Corey Dennis, great recruiter. I don’t care if they know their X’s and O’s better than the next guy. If you can excel at recruiting, you’re on the staff. In college you win with talent.
November 1st, 2020 at 1:27 AM ^
No head coach wants to keep the rest of the staff. He'll want to bring his own guys that he's worked with and trusts.
And if you think Harbaugh's culture is poor, why would you keep guys who have worked in that culture when you have the option to fire them?
October 31st, 2020 at 11:00 PM ^
It’s paramount we find a guy who has proven to have a track record with QB’s. This program has had brutal QB play since harbaugh arrived. CB’s sucked today. DL sucked today. Reality is you held them to 27. You should win in college holding teams to under 30. Our QB isn’t ready. We haven’t had one worth a lick since Rudock.
October 31st, 2020 at 11:06 PM ^
Jim Harbaugh was thought to have a proven track record with QB's, so that seems like a useless criteria
November 1st, 2020 at 12:48 AM ^
Yeah, not even "thought to" -- actually had a very legit proven track record with QBs.
If you're upset with Harbaugh and demand UM fire him to hire a guy with proven experience with QBs, you are essentially asking UM to hire whoever is the current Harbaugh, and thus, repeat this cycle all over again, which is perhaps the stupidest, most short-sighted, least self-aware take that only backs up theory that all sports fans are idiots.
Nice job.
October 31st, 2020 at 11:02 PM ^
How about we just take a deep breath and see how the rest of the covid year goes. Completely new OL, new corners, and new QB, and an insane context in which to prep them. Then not being permitted either to jam receivers or stick with them in the backfield, or to call out defensive plays at the line. And the QB himself basically said that he screwed up the reads and the throws all game. There was a lot to fix. Let's see how fixing it goes.
October 31st, 2020 at 11:07 PM ^
Is this before or after we get torched by Penn State, Ohio State, and possibly Indiana?
October 31st, 2020 at 11:21 PM ^
Don’t forget Wisconsin. They may not have their QB, but do you think our DLine is getting any penetration on that wall of an offensive line?
November 1st, 2020 at 3:16 AM ^
Wisconsin isn't playing another game this season
October 31st, 2020 at 11:19 PM ^
From what I saw today, we will lose at Indiana next week! I laughed when some people said we would finish 4-4, however now that looks very plausible/ spot-on.
November 1st, 2020 at 5:30 AM ^
Yeah MSU didn’t need to address losing the most combined starts in defense in 2020 with a new staff and no spring ball
so many fucking excuses. And not even good ones.
October 31st, 2020 at 11:07 PM ^
I'd like a different DC at the least.
Gattis shows promise, today was a head scratcher though. That wildcat crap for 2 straight plays was straight up garbage decision making, you already have a QB who can run that, who can actually throw.
Also, why the fuck didn't Harbaugh' challenge that catch in the 4th QT that ended in the nail in the coffin TD for MSU?
That really pissed me off, he has been a really average coach at a program that has all the potential to be top tier if done correctly.
October 31st, 2020 at 11:30 PM ^
A few years ago it was 'UM just needs a new OC, Brown and the D show promise.' Then the 'UM just needs someone to spread things out.'
There has been one constant. If that constant didn't play here he would have been out with his OC friends.
October 31st, 2020 at 11:47 PM ^
A few years ago we had future pros on D but our CB and DT recruiting has been terrible since then.
November 1st, 2020 at 12:49 AM ^
I do like Gattis’ scheme. Whoever was responsible for compiling the game plan and calling the game on the field (obvious assumption is Gattis) failed miserably today.
the players came out flat. The coaches came out flatter. Browns game plan might have been equally as bad if not worse.
November 1st, 2020 at 8:17 AM ^
The O looks good when their throwing quick passes outside and getting our athletes in space. After a few plays of that its back to running right into stacked boxes. I wonder who calls them plays?
October 31st, 2020 at 11:07 PM ^
joe brady, greg brady, heck, marcia brady at this point
October 31st, 2020 at 11:20 PM ^
Chuck Berry..., Wayne Brady!?
October 31st, 2020 at 11:32 PM ^
Tom Brady????
October 31st, 2020 at 11:54 PM ^
Hell, his cousin Marvin.....Marvin Berry!
October 31st, 2020 at 11:09 PM ^
Joe Brady is going to be coaching the Jets, Falcons, Lions, or some other NFL team that fires its coach before this season is over. Hell, I won’t be surprised if Sean Payton retires and hands Brady the keys to the kingdom in New Orleans. I’m not sure how much longer Payton stays after Brees retires. That is NOT something Michigan can even remotely compete with.
I’m sorry but he’s too good for Michigan. We have the money but just not the clout to bring a guy like that in. And even if we did, Warde isn’t getting rid of Harbaugh. Not without a scandal or year by year increases of losing.
November 1st, 2020 at 9:28 AM ^
You're correct about Brady - he's an NFL lifer now. However, we will be losing a lot more games this year. If the defense plays like it did yesterday, we'll lose to Indiana, Penn State, Wisconsin, and Ohio State. Perhaps even Rutgers. There's a case to say we don't look like a sure-fire win over Maryland after yesterday's performance. All of the remaining teams on the schedule can beat the Michigan team that played yesterday.
We were very fortunate Minnesota has regressed hard and Fleck is more inept than Harbaugh seems to be.
How you don't at least start making a run at Larry Johnson at OSU is beyond me. I'd back up the Brinks truck for him right about now. He'll be a head coach somewhere soon - that's a matter of time.
November 1st, 2020 at 12:23 PM ^
Larry Johnson has been coaching with either PSU or OSU with success since 96. If he wanted to be a head coach by now he would be. Guessing he’s had chance to at smaller programs, but passed on those chances hoping something bigger would come along. I know age isn’t everything, but he’s 75+ yrs ole and yes, I realize Saban is almost 70, but I don’t think Johnson is who UM would want or would even sniff a short list for them.
November 1st, 2020 at 9:38 AM ^
I have zero faith that Manuel will do anything with Harbaugh other than give him an extension. Just wait and see. Manuel was brought in here for two reasons: to be the anti-Brandon and to appease the Harbaugh camp by having someone who would stay out of his way.
