TIED FOR FIRST AGAIN IN THE B1G BOIS
February 2nd, 2019 at 8:42 PM ^
Life is tough on the road in the Big Ten.
No, wait . . .
February 2nd, 2019 at 8:42 PM ^
Where's everybody who was sure that Michigan was out of the Big Ten title race now?
February 2nd, 2019 at 8:50 PM ^
Just like Murderwolf, they are always here
February 2nd, 2019 at 8:50 PM ^
Fuck those people, fuck Sparty and fuck Ohio State. Bang away!!! Go Blue!
February 3rd, 2019 at 11:19 AM ^
Amazingly enough, based on remaining schedules, Purdue has to be the favorite to win the B1G regular season title. We still have 2 against Sparty, 2 against MD, and 1 against Wiscy. Even our road game against Rutger is not a given. If we don't win it, I wouldn't mind Purdue. They played a murderous early schedule, and I like Painter.
February 3rd, 2019 at 12:05 PM ^
If we don't win it, anyone but sparty is a good 2nd choice. I think Painter is a good coach, 2nd best in the B1G behind Beilein. And he's very respectful of our program and coach, something the angry dwarf never is.

KenPom has MSU at 16-4 and Michigan and Purdue tied for second at 15-5; Torvik agrees. Both systems put Wisconsin next -- KenPom at 14-6, Torvik at 13-7.
Purdue's schedule isn't a cakewalk, but I agree that it's easier than Michgan's or MSU's. Here's hoping Minnesota can hold onto the 6 point lead they currently have (35-29 with 18:16 left in the second) to open up some separation. (ETA: They didn't. Minnesota actually got it up to 47-34 before giving up a 13-0 run to tie it; it was all downhill from there).
February 2nd, 2019 at 8:42 PM ^
Back in 1st!
February 2nd, 2019 at 8:42 PM ^
Hell yeah! Go Blue! We beat that ass on the road and they beat Sparty on their turf.
February 2nd, 2019 at 9:53 PM ^
We also beat their ass at Crisler as well
February 2nd, 2019 at 8:43 PM ^
I like this result
February 3rd, 2019 at 10:42 AM ^
I, also, like this result.
February 2nd, 2019 at 8:43 PM ^
Gotta love this - terrible loss by Sparty against a crippled, disheartened IU squad - at home!
February 2nd, 2019 at 8:44 PM ^
Plenty of home cooking from the refs, too. IU had two players foul out; they to put Clifton Moore into the game in overtime.
Hope Morgan's OK.
February 2nd, 2019 at 8:46 PM ^
IU’s 2 terrible turnovers with under 30 seconds felt like they were destined to keep losing, but pulled it out!
February 3rd, 2019 at 10:21 AM ^
One of the turnovers was a typical B1G bad call where the IU player was grabbed and turned.
February 3rd, 2019 at 1:24 PM ^
I assume you're talking about the one near half-court? I disagree; I thought the same thing at first, but on the reverse-angle replay, it was clear that the defender (Goins, I think?) got his hand on the ball as the IU player turned around to try to split the double-team. He got him on the arm afterwards, but I thought it was a good no-call.
That said -- it might have been called a foul in Bloomington. :)
February 3rd, 2019 at 11:41 PM ^
No, he’s talking about the inbound on the baseline. MSU player clearly had his arm on the IU player and grabbed, similar to how a CB tries to get away with spinning a receiver with their off hand.

a bunch of weird guys knock of sparty at home. love it! huge for us. go blue!!
February 2nd, 2019 at 8:44 PM ^
THEY LOST
TO GOD AWFUL INDIANA
AT HOME
HAAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
February 2nd, 2019 at 8:48 PM ^
In overtime.
Indiana gave up the ball twice in the last 30 seconds and Sparty could not hit a shot.
February 2nd, 2019 at 8:44 PM ^
I said yesterday in the game thread that MSU was much better than Iowa.
I stand corrected.
Indiana...LOL
February 2nd, 2019 at 8:44 PM ^
does anyone know what happened in that IU v. sparty game?
February 2nd, 2019 at 8:45 PM ^
Nick Ward went 1/9 from the free throw line and ended up getting benched for most of overtime. The team, overall, was 8 of 22 from the line.
February 2nd, 2019 at 8:47 PM ^
my comment was really more directed at the 412 'sparty lost!!!' posbang threads.
good for IU. tough to win on the road and sparty is a very good team.
February 2nd, 2019 at 8:49 PM ^
Yep, I'll admit to a whoosh there. :)
Then again, I think there were "only" three when I started looking... :)
February 3rd, 2019 at 10:19 AM ^
I posted the 4th one of the four I saw, titled (and in all caps) "DOWN GOES SPARTIE! DOWN GOES SPARTIE!!". As soon as I realized that I came in 4th place, I immediately replied "Too slow, I lost."
When I looked 3 minutes later after viewing the first few post in this POSBANG thread, mine and the other two runners-up had all been deleted.

It really is tough and it's all the crowd factor and the home team's comfort with their court. I mean I was a great shooter and I still am. I could not make as many 3's on rims that I wasn't accustomed to shooting on often. Even the back drops behind the hoops had an effect on my shot. The real great shooters are not messed up by this. Michigan doesn't have any true great shooters. We all know this. Michigan is still a better team than Wisconsin and Iowa. I am always pissed at a loss but I don't for one second doubt that if Michigan plays anywhere close to how they are capable of playing the majority of the time, they kick the shit out of both of those teams at home and on neutral courts.

You were man. You were amazing. Best 3 point shooter in Fargo.
February 3rd, 2019 at 7:27 AM ^
Which is like being the best hockey player in Ecuador.
February 3rd, 2019 at 10:29 AM ^
Or the best ski jumper in all of England.
February 3rd, 2019 at 9:32 AM ^
If coach had put him in the game, no doubt in my mind they win the state title. No doubt in my mind.
February 3rd, 2019 at 12:54 AM ^
I would image that sight lines vary drastically across college basketball arenas, even more so than the NBA. No question that shooters need to learn how to make adjustments. I'd be curious if practicing at a variety of locations (high school gyms, other colleges) would help that learning process.
February 3rd, 2019 at 3:38 AM ^
enlighten us on what % makes a good shooter. i know for a fact UM has at least 3 on the roster right now.
February 3rd, 2019 at 10:48 AM ^
Michigan has some good shooters. Not great shooters. Nik Stauskas was a “great” shooter.
February 2nd, 2019 at 8:48 PM ^
That is what Izzo does best. Bench your best players and play weird guys instead!!!
February 3rd, 2019 at 8:41 AM ^
His players didn't lose, IU--of course--didn't win; Izzo admits he was the problem.
“That should fall on me, not them. I feel bad because in my mind I know when we lost the game. It wasn’t in the game and that’s what the players have to learn and realize you are everybody’s big game.
“It’s only because we didn’t practice good. You don’t practice good you usually don’t play good. Don’t feel sorry for us, we got what we deserved.”
Guy has become a joke version of himself.

Shooting free throws is difficult after Mo Wagner broke both his ankles last year ?
February 2nd, 2019 at 8:44 PM ^
So happy to see them lose.
February 2nd, 2019 at 9:22 PM ^
I would normally want to say “aren’t we above this?”, but I happened to go over to RCMB yesterday.
You would have thought it was Xmas morining with all the celebrating and M hate........how’s IU’s ass taste Sparty?
February 2nd, 2019 at 11:17 PM ^
Haha love this comment !!
February 2nd, 2019 at 8:44 PM ^
Sparty FT shooting pos bang!
February 2nd, 2019 at 8:45 PM ^
8 for 23, something like that.
That's bad.
February 3rd, 2019 at 1:14 AM ^
Tough week for tom!!!
February 2nd, 2019 at 9:39 PM ^
With Ward going 1/9 from the charity stripe and looking like a kid with no candy on the bench when they needed him in OT. Shouldn’’t have been ‘banging’ it off the rim all game.
February 2nd, 2019 at 8:45 PM ^
Sparty home atmosphere was completely dead in OT.
February 2nd, 2019 at 8:45 PM ^
Isn't this the same Indiana team we blew out twice?!?!
