Congrats Myles!  That’s awesome.  I will never begrudge kids choosing Stanford.   Great education and quality football.   Best of luck to him in the future.

Can you blame him?

His brother's position coach let him sign with Michigan on December 19, and about three weeks later, he booked it for Ohio State. I'm guessing the defensive linemen and linebackers who signed with Michigan in December are at least slightly annoyed, so if a 5-star brother with options is about set to commit somewhere, I can't blame him for wanting to go to another school - especially Stanford, which has solid football and excellent academics.

I understand that in most scenarios, but I don't know how you hold this one against UM as a recruit.  I would imagine UM was just as blindsided.  It isn't like they knew Mattison was going to OSU but let him hang around and recruit until after signing day to mislead recruits.

I'd really hope you meant to put /s in there at the end...I don't think a man who would be that unethical would be someone we employed for so long, because that means he did shady shit here as well. I was listening to B1G radio this morning and Brad Hopkins was talking to Zach this weekend at the UA All American game and he said he had been leaning toward tOSU for awhile and the nail was when Urban left because he really liked Ryan Day and his youthful non intense exuberance but mainly it boiled down to Larry Johnson and learning under him. I think was made me sick about it was the fact that Day has been at the helm for exactly one week and this was one more kick to the nuts from him. I was hoping his newness would be a negative to recruits but it doesn't appear that way.

Yeah...I mean, Mattison coached defensive line at Northwestern from 1978-1980, and Chris Hinton played tight end at Northwestern starting in 1980 (and moved to offensive tackle later). So that's a pretty loose connection, and they were only there together for one season.

I think I finally need to lower my expectations for Michigan Football, and then maybe I will be a happier person if they over perform.

That said, I can never fault someone for going to Stanford.

If you look at the state of Michigan football and of the state of this board, and you decide to abandon Michigan football and stick around this board, words are inadequate to describe your level of pathetic. What a bunch of disgusting bitches.

Well fuck, can't fault a kid for that decision though since its Stanford and his brother just got fucked by coaching staff departures right after signing day

Hmm...I was really hoping against hope that Myles would follow Chris to Michigan. If I had my pick of kids from this class right now it would be Myles...this kid is really good.

Eh who cares. Some people here are so doom and gloom, and really it's their own frickin fault for blowing every bit of adversity so massively out of proportion. I say that if you can't find any joy supporting the football team because they're frickin 10-3 (!) then you'll probably sooner rather than later find a reason to complain about the basketball team, too.

I mean what champions you are to find your love for basketball when they're undefeated and ranked in the top 3 in the country coming off a national championship game appearance. The world would probably end for you if by some fluke they lost in the 2nd round of this year's tournament *which could happen and yet would in no way actually invalidate what Beilein has achieved here*.

This forum and fanbase has more wet noodles without a backbone in their bodies than any other environment I've ever been in. It actually manages to be worse now than it was in the darkest days of Rich Rod and Hoke because the gap between reality and the crying on here is so much bigger than it was then. I mean, at the end of the Hoke era with the Brandon thing going on too there was a real reason to feel some despair about things...but now they're winning 10 games most years and that's somehow the worst thing on earth worth crying about every effing day. Jesus effing christ.

Exactly.

Nobody hardly paid any attention until after that debacle. UNC game was a few days after.

Basketball season started in early November and went on the road and thumped Villanova. Now that win generated buzz but MBB was still an afterthought to most a few days later when the team played in their early season tournament.

I think many look at OSU's insane record under Tressel + Urban and wonder "Why can't we do the same?" We're among the top 5 most valuable football programs, and have the brand name, infrastructure, and $$$ to hire top coaches. We've gotten top 10 recruiting classes several times since 2012.

10-3 season floors are nice, but it's understandable for a fan base to get frustrated over not being able to beat the arch rival and not making it to the B10 title game even once despite having all those resources.

I'm very far from doom and gloom-most of the rabid partisans that dominate this site would not define me as a fan-which is perfectly fine with me. However, here, Myles Hinton is an elite talent who is going to dominate at the LT position...and he was/is an important get...Michigan has nobody like him on their roster. Luckily, the Gentry kid from Arizona looks to be a similar talent...so...hopefully they can get him....getting both of them would truly be a coup.

That being said, I am very optimistic with regard to Michigan's future OL and DL prospects already on this roster. As I have stated on the record, having talent is both necessary and wonderful but these kids need to be coached well or that talent will be wasted.

God I used to look forward to opening MGoBlog to see something good going on.  Wtf lately.

Standford has lost 9 games the past two seasons.  It’s not like they are lighting it up.   Ugh.
