Predcitons about tomorrow's CFB Championship
Mates,
Tomorrow at 8 pm on ESPN. Alabama is a 4 1/2 point favorite and the game is going to be played out west in the 49er's newish stadium in Santa Clara, CA. At a minimum, I am hoping for a very good game. I guess I can't help but root for Clemson, all things being equal, but I get that some will want to call in a meteor strike.
Anyway, simple question tonight:
Who do you think wins tomorrow's CFB championship game, and is that different than who you want to win the game?

37-27 Bama
January 6th, 2019 at 10:29 PM ^
'Bama, by even more!
January 6th, 2019 at 9:46 PM ^
Will be difficult for Clemson to repeat their ‘17 feat without Deshaun Watson. Lawrence will get his after Tua goes pro in AlabamaClemson Bowl VI.
2016: Alabama
2017: Clemson
2018: Alabama
2019: Alabama
2020: Alabama
2021: Clemson
2022: Michigan
January 6th, 2019 at 9:49 PM ^
Now will Harbaugh be the HC in 2022?........"ducks for cover"
January 6th, 2019 at 9:48 PM ^
I'm rooting for Clemson because fuck Saban. Alabama will probably win close though and someone will make a thread about how far are we from Alabama and everyone who says we are very far will get banned and their will be arguments and pain......nothing good will come from this game
January 6th, 2019 at 9:49 PM ^
i hope it pisses rain and the field falls apart. And no one is in the stands. Dirty ass prgrams.
January 6th, 2019 at 10:00 PM ^
It would be better if it rained piss instead.
January 6th, 2019 at 10:50 PM ^
Dabo gets struck by lightning for his bullshit fake piety and the gates of hell open for the devil to collect Saban's soul in person.
January 6th, 2019 at 9:51 PM ^
Is it an odd year? Then Clemson
Bama gets the win next year since it'll be an even year
January 6th, 2019 at 9:51 PM ^
Prediction #1, I won't be watching
January 6th, 2019 at 9:52 PM ^
I'm prepared to queue up my VCR with the replay of today's big win over IU if I start to get bored.
January 6th, 2019 at 9:55 PM ^
No idea. 2 loaded teams. Just hope both show up and compete - no lop sided final. Should be a good one.
Also, I'm rooting for them all to declare for the nfl, including saban. That would be super.
January 6th, 2019 at 10:43 PM ^
Why aren’t there repeated rumors about Saban going back to the NFL? Why does only Harbaugh have to deal with that bullshit?
January 6th, 2019 at 11:32 PM ^
Maybe Schefter and Bacon will do college football a solid and spread some rumors
January 7th, 2019 at 12:03 AM ^
Probably because he's already 67.
January 7th, 2019 at 11:44 AM ^
Because Saban was a failure in the NFL and Harbaugh was a success?
January 6th, 2019 at 9:56 PM ^
Clemson 41 Alabama 38
January 6th, 2019 at 9:57 PM ^
Close early; Bama pulls away eventually...38-17.
January 6th, 2019 at 10:00 PM ^
I predict I don’t care.
January 6th, 2019 at 10:00 PM ^
Alabama 62-39
January 6th, 2019 at 10:04 PM ^
dayton, you have grave and enduring problems. i hope you seek help.
January 6th, 2019 at 10:05 PM ^
BCS was actually better than the Playoff system.Back then kids would go to 15-20 schools spreading out the talent
Now, most top 50 recruits are going to end up at 4-5 schools every year, its going to destroy college football..
Bama 41
Clemson 10
January 6th, 2019 at 10:17 PM ^
Either Bama or Clemson will win. What most predicted before the season began.
January 6th, 2019 at 10:17 PM ^
I honestly think no one outside of the state of Alabama and parts of S. Carolina cares. FWIW a friend's son (and a former student of mine) attends Clemson so I will nominally root for them...
January 6th, 2019 at 10:28 PM ^
CFB is a regional sport. And putting the Title game in Santa Clara was the dumbest thing ever.
I think the only title games that average fans cared about were 2017 and 2006, moreso 2006. It's just hard to Garner a lot of interest for an average CFB fan.
That being said, I will actually watch this one because I am interested in it. I almost never watch the title game but I am a fan of Tua
January 6th, 2019 at 10:52 PM ^
I think the apathy is more than that. Same old, same old... I am not saying they aren't the two best teams-- it just takes the excitement out of CFB when the two best teams don't vary from year to year.
January 6th, 2019 at 11:22 PM ^
I don't even know how much the matchup apathy has to do with it.
I think I've watched 3 title games since the BCS was introduced (06,15,17).
I also rarely watch the national title game in basketball. It could just be me, but usually the ratings for these games aren't great.
January 6th, 2019 at 10:28 PM ^
I’ll watch, but I won’t enjoy it, and whichever team wins, it’ll make me mad. To answer your question, I figure Alabama will win and, since I don’t want either team to win, it’ll be different from the team I want.
January 6th, 2019 at 10:30 PM ^
Clemson - 8
Alabama - 5
...in an “offensive” struggle.
January 6th, 2019 at 10:30 PM ^
Clemson, but very close.
Tuesday morning the discussion will be about how shitty the turf was. Every game I've seen at that field has wet turf that is pulling up in chunks.
*I didn't watch the championship last year because I did not want my TV to register viewing an all-SEC game.
January 6th, 2019 at 10:32 PM ^
I wonder if the discussion on Tuesday will be about how low the ratings are. Does anyone sense a lot of interest in this game?
January 7th, 2019 at 1:09 AM ^
Attendance will be low. Tickets are cheap.
January 7th, 2019 at 7:35 AM ^
Announced attendance will be close to capacity. Actual attendance will be in the 50% to 60% range. Lots of tight camera shots to avoid showing empty upper decks.
Decision to put the game out there really questionable:
- Lodging is really, really expensive
- Traffic is horrible
- When they made decision, chances of Pac-12 team getting into this year's final: 0%
They should just stick with what they know works: Atlanta, New Orleans, Dallas.
January 6th, 2019 at 10:31 PM ^
I am curious to see how the TV ratings for this one do. Wondering if apathy for this game is widespread.
January 6th, 2019 at 10:33 PM ^
Well, our messages crossed, and you beat me to my point.
January 6th, 2019 at 10:57 PM ^
It's gotta be on a lot of minds, especially TV people and the NCAA. A multiple repeat of the same two programs who are widely considered to be dirty can't play well in PAC12, B1G, B12, and a good bit ACC country.
January 6th, 2019 at 10:40 PM ^
Bama will probably win.
January 6th, 2019 at 10:40 PM ^
Clemson by 6. They are the more complete team across all phases.
January 6th, 2019 at 11:31 PM ^
Do you think Clemson really has a more complete offensive line, WRs, LB, TE or secondary than Alabama?
January 6th, 2019 at 10:43 PM ^
Close game because of Clemson's D-line. Bama pulls it out at the end 30-27.
I really don't care who wins. I dislike Bama more than Clemson but I'm bored with both teams at this point. Really just want college football to be over at this point so we can officially start to delude ourselves about a potential B1G title and CFP appearance based on snippets from spring camp and before and after Twitter photos from the weight room.
January 6th, 2019 at 10:53 PM ^
Tired of all Southern finals. Just remember, every time you hear the “SEC” chant, they’re basically fighting the Civil War again- a politically correct way of saying “we may have lost the war, but we’re better at football than you damn Yankees. All hail the Lost Cause”. Can you ever imagine Michigan fans, or Wisconsin fans for that matter, chanting “Big 10, Big 10” if Ohio State was in the finals?
January 7th, 2019 at 7:19 AM ^
If the B1G won like 100 straight championships as well, they probably would.
January 6th, 2019 at 10:45 PM ^
I am pretty tired of these teams.
Prediction: Alabama wins 27-17. They’re stronger at QB. And Dexter Lawrence is out.
January 6th, 2019 at 10:46 PM ^
Actually there is not a number high enough to show how many fucks I give about this game.
January 6th, 2019 at 10:52 PM ^
LMAO now that's funny
January 6th, 2019 at 10:52 PM ^
My prediction is that I won't care enough to even watch it. Besides it's poker night and I won't miss that even for free food. Free beer maybe! Nah, I was just foolin'
January 6th, 2019 at 10:54 PM ^
Alabama’s defense will be the story of the night and Clemson won’t score much.
January 6th, 2019 at 10:57 PM ^
Clemson will upset Alabama. Brent Venables may be the best DC in college football. Both of these programs know each other and have been here. The difference will be the Clemson QB who is already an NFL QB.
January 6th, 2019 at 11:09 PM ^
It will be on the TV at my house, so seeing a few minutes here and there will be inevitable.
