Predcitons about tomorrow's CFB Championship

Submitted by xtramelanin on January 6th, 2019 at 9:24 PM

Mates,

Tomorrow at 8 pm on ESPN.  Alabama is a 4 1/2 point favorite and the game is going to be played out west in the 49er's newish stadium in Santa Clara, CA.   At a minimum, I am hoping for a very good game.  I guess I can't help but root for Clemson, all things being equal, but I get that some will want to call in a meteor strike.

Anyway, simple question tonight:

Who do you think wins tomorrow's CFB championship game, and is that different than who you want to win the game?

Will be difficult for Clemson to repeat their ‘17 feat without Deshaun Watson. Lawrence will get his after Tua goes pro in AlabamaClemson Bowl VI.

I'm rooting for Clemson because fuck Saban. Alabama will probably win close though and someone will make a thread about how far are we from Alabama and everyone who says we are very far will get banned and their will be arguments and pain......nothing good will come from this game

No idea. 2 loaded teams.  Just hope both show up and compete - no lop sided final.  Should be a good one.

Also, I'm rooting for them all to declare for the nfl, including saban. That would be super.

BCS was actually better than the Playoff system.Back then kids would go to 15-20 schools spreading out the talent

Now, most top 50 recruits are going to end up at 4-5 schools every year, its going to destroy college football..

Bama 41

Clemson 10

I honestly think no one outside of the state of Alabama and parts of S. Carolina cares.  FWIW a friend's son (and a former student of mine) attends Clemson so I will nominally root for them...

CFB is a regional sport. And putting the Title game in Santa Clara was the dumbest thing ever.

I think the only title games that average fans cared about were 2017 and 2006, moreso 2006. It's just hard to Garner a lot of interest for an average CFB fan.

That being said, I will actually watch this one because I am interested in it. I almost never watch the title game but I am a fan of Tua

I don't even know how much the matchup apathy has to do with it.

I think I've watched 3 title games since the BCS was introduced (06,15,17).

I also rarely watch the national title game in basketball. It could just be me, but usually the ratings for these games aren't great.

I’ll watch, but I won’t enjoy it, and whichever team wins, it’ll make me mad. To answer your question, I figure Alabama will win and, since I don’t want either team to win, it’ll be different from the team I want.

Clemson, but very close.

Tuesday morning the discussion will be about how shitty the turf was.  Every game I've seen at that field has wet turf that is pulling up in chunks.

*I didn't watch the championship last year because I did not want my TV to register viewing an all-SEC game.

Announced attendance will be close to capacity.  Actual attendance will be in the 50% to 60% range.  Lots of tight camera shots to avoid showing empty upper decks.

Decision to put the game out there really questionable:

  • Lodging is really, really expensive
  • Traffic is horrible
  • When they made decision, chances of Pac-12 team getting into this year's final: 0%

They should just stick with what they know works: Atlanta, New Orleans, Dallas.

Close game because of Clemson's D-line. Bama pulls it out at the end 30-27.

I really don't care who wins. I dislike Bama more than Clemson but I'm bored with both teams at this point. Really just want college football to be over at this point so we can officially start to delude ourselves about a potential B1G title and CFP appearance based on snippets from spring camp and before and after Twitter photos from the weight room.

Tired of all Southern finals.  Just remember, every time you hear the “SEC” chant, they’re basically fighting the Civil War again- a politically correct way of saying “we may have lost the war, but we’re better at football than you damn Yankees. All hail the Lost Cause”.   Can you ever imagine Michigan fans, or Wisconsin fans for that matter, chanting “Big 10, Big 10” if Ohio State was in the finals?

My prediction is that I won't care enough to even watch it. Besides it's poker night and I won't miss that even for free food. Free beer maybe! Nah, I was just foolin'

Clemson will upset Alabama. Brent Venables may be the best DC in college football. Both of these programs know each other and have been here. The difference will be the Clemson QB who is already an NFL QB.

It will be on the TV at my house, so seeing a few minutes here and there will be inevitable.
