09/20/2018 - 3:33pm I'm not looking, and…

I'm not looking, and certainly not now.

09/14/2018 - 4:38pm They get a touchdown and…

They get a touchdown and extra point, then get a safety taken away from them.

09/13/2018 - 1:34pm Maybe this isn't the exact…

Maybe this isn't the exact right thread to ask this question in, but I've seen only limited talk so far of moving Bredeson out to LT. We did that with Braden in 2016 and I recall that it went at least ok. This would allow for a Onwenu-Spanellis-Ruiz interior (with either Span or Ruiz at C). Then you'd just roll with whoever between Hudson and JBB (or even Runyan) seems to be "the guy" at RT. When you then look at us having Steuber and Mayfield, plus Runyan and Hudson/JBB coming off the bench, man it seems like we have decent depth on the OL.

This is all predicated on Bredeson sufficing at LT. I'm envisioning a floor-ceiling somewhere around freshman Cole/senior Braden.

09/11/2018 - 9:03pm Odd that South Carolina is …

Odd that South Carolina is #15 but there's no Clemson. Guess I would have expected to see Virginia Tech and UCLA on here as well, but otherwise it looks like all the usual suspects. Basically an NFL-size upper half of the Power Five.

09/05/2018 - 9:51pm Lol your post title sounds…

Lol your post title sounds like you legit quit reading in disgust.

09/04/2018 - 4:41pm Lol I had to clear my cache…

Lol I had to clear my cache too. I had no idea what you guys were talking about. I love the design but the image of Harbaugh is kind of just weird. Maybe rotate in different players with a similar background treatment. The contrast of the MGOBLOG in the foreground and the stadium masked in blue in the background looks great.

09/04/2018 - 4:24pm Looking at all the toss-ups …

Looking at all the toss-ups (not sure-wins or must-wins), I still think we can come out on top in some of them. ND was a toss-up that's now a loss, so we go on from here:

@ND - L (was toss up)
Neb - W
@NW - 50-50 W (this is our one "this always happens" possibility for a surprise loss)
MD - W
Wisc - 50-50 W
@MSU - 50-50 W
PSU - 50-50 W
Rutgers - W
Indiana - W
OSU - 50-50 W

So in "certainty" games we're 6-1
We have five toss-ups. That's 2.5 wins, 2.5 losses. We go 8.5 and 3.5.

I think our best hope is to have no more than 3 total losses, and all of them be NY6 or playoff teams (ND, Wisconsin, OSU); or beat OSU and still have a minimum of 3 losses besides. That would be enough to get us into the NY6 game against the Group of Five qualifier and give us a shot at another 10-win season with an NY6 win, which would be our best result under Harbaugh.

I do think we're far better than we showed Saturday, as opposed to far worse. I don't think we'll be much worse than that this year, barring injuries, and some flukey and mistake-y things happened that hopefully won't crop up again.

One more sign of hope: For at least this week, it appears Jim has taken time off from his podcast, which I really enjoy in the offseason but bothers me that Coach spends time on it the day after a game, even if it's a win.

09/01/2018 - 11:24pm Patterson was not the…

Patterson was not the problem and he knows it.

09/01/2018 - 11:22pm I like his podcast but I…

I like his podcast but I think Jack could do it solo during the season. Not that this is what’s wrong with the program but it’s a symptom. Harbaugh just doesn’t seem that into purely coaching.

09/01/2018 - 11:05pm That’s not that long! I’m…

That’s not that long! I’m very excited!!

09/01/2018 - 10:59pm Well even if we lose, it…

Well even if we lose, it goes down as a 24-17 loss on the road, not 31-10 or whatever it was looking like for a while.

09/01/2018 - 10:53pm I would like Coach Harbaugh…

I would like Coach Harbaugh to stop podcasting during the season.

08/29/2018 - 3:31pm In 2023 and 2025 there's no…

In 2023 and 2025 there's no Wisconsin and MSU and OSU are at home in those years. Also no Wisconsin in 2022 but that's a rivals-away year. Unfortunately, while '23 and '25 are looking good initially, we open on the road at UCLA and Oklahoma, respectively. So bluh, don't really catch much of a scheduling break ever.

07/23/2018 - 9:46am And it wasn't mobile…

And it wasn't mobile-friendly. There was a mobile app that worked great but it had to be shut down because it didn't support ads ... but if there was a way to incorporate ads into that UI, it would have been great.

07/10/2018 - 11:23am I love Brandstatter but play…

I love Brandstatter but play by play is not his thing. I would have rather seen him replaced in his U of M role, stay doing color for the Lions and, better yet, go back to color for Michigan. There could be a three-man booth with Dierdorf like the old Monday Night Football (or lots of pro and college teams), with Shepard or Champion doing PBP.

06/24/2018 - 10:14pm The biggest question I have…

The biggest question I have his: why does Bernard need glasses?

06/13/2018 - 2:22pm Design stuff... Tightening…

Design stuff... Tightening up line heights and eliminative a few weird breaks would go a long way for me. Having Joined and MGoPoints fit on one line (same line as upvote/downvote) would be good too, Monosnap 2018-06-13 14-05-16.png

06/08/2018 - 12:06pm I miss the old site. Am I…

I miss the old site. Am I still supposed to be getting the joke late-90’s Fab 5 site on my iPhone? Must be cached. I’m getting the new site on my iPad.

05/22/2018 - 12:52pm Isn't that what ANY preseason poll is?

A prediction of where the teams will finish at the end of the season, taking their schedule into consideration? Otherwise are "actual pre-season" polls based purely on who has the most talented players coming back, and ranks them accordingly, regardless of schedule? Then as the season progresses the same poll realizes "oh, crap, they had to play THESE guys?!? If I only would have known that..."

But, ATHLON's pre-season poll actually games out all the games, predicts wins and losses through the entire season, and predicts where all the chips fall. If ALL pre-season polls don't do that, then that's dumb but raises an interesting question. If Michigan's #12 preseason ranking bakes in that they'll lose to Notre Dame in the season opener, shouldn't they just keep their ranking if that was expected? And they are also expected to beat Penn State and MSU on their way to losing to Wisconsin and Penn State ... If all that happens do they just sit there at 12? Only if they lose to, say, MSU do they drop?

It's kind of like if the #1 and #2 preseason teams meet in a kick-off classic, shouldn't the loser remain at 2? I mean, everyone knew they were playing each other and must have figured that game would be their only possible loss. Which makes me think maybe pre-season polls are truly just based on talent amassed on each team, and then once the season starts and games are won and lost, things get shaken up.

But if Athlon truly gamed out the season, they're predicting an awfully big Mexican standoff between OSU, PSU, MSU and UM.

05/16/2018 - 4:45pm Not so much an opinion, but got me thinking of a question:

Did Coach Harbaugh have a "passing game coordinator" and a "run game coordinator" at Stanford or the 49ers? And how does that work? On running downs the run game coordinator calls the play and passing downs the pass-game guy gets it? What if it's a 3rd and 4? (I know defenses make personnel changes on passing vs. running downs but that's a little different.) Then somehow Harbaugh has veto power if he doesn't like the run play? Does he ask the passing guy what he's got available to run?

So my unpopular opinion is we'll never win the B1G or make the playoff running our offense this way. We can get back to a 2016-level season this year with the talent we have on defense, but that season ended up short of those major goals.

05/16/2018 - 11:31am I believe Gardenhire was fired the year Leyland retired

so he was available then, but the front office wanted to try to catch some sort of trend going on with hiring young up-and-coming managers that was based soley on John Farrell beating Mike Matheney in the '13 Series. And they end up hiring him anyway, when we could have had him for the last 4 years.

04/13/2018 - 3:43pm Yeah...

I watched the entire series and it was painful. I saw zero benefit to doing this. Zero benefit to the university, zero to recruiting, zero to the kids, zero to the coaches, zero to the Harbaugh family, and a giganitic negative for giving our rivals a bunch of meme footage of our players crying on the sidelines.

Nothing against the kids and they all played along just fine, definitely a group of excellent young men. But I can't believe a camera crew sat across a Red Lobster and filmed Rashan and his mother having that conversation. We did not need to see that. Somebody tell me why any of us would need to eavesdrop on that.

A bad distraction. Stupid idea I hope they never do again with Michigan. Go put a camera in everyone's face in Columbus, South Bend or East Lansing next time.

04/05/2018 - 10:42pm PLINK-O

04/05/2018 - 8:40pm Had zero interest in

Potentially losing to OSU in the final. Nice.

04/05/2018 - 8:22pm Roll call?

The X is amazing. Just chillin in one of the restaurants until the M game. They’re serving alcohol!!!

03/30/2018 - 9:09am Still is, as of within the last year at least.

I'm sure it's still going strong. Great place. I get to Charleston once or twice a year and always go to Mac's to watch Michigan if they're playing. I'd get there early ... place could get really packed.

03/29/2018 - 8:33pm Got it, makes sense.

Thanks for your help!!

03/29/2018 - 7:41pm Wait.

Are you saying there are separate tickets for semis 1 and 2? I'm not sure I'm following you ... they don't literally have everyone move sections between games.

03/29/2018 - 7:38pm Thanks! I plan to arrive a bit late,

since we have the late game. If the crowd thins for the second game maybe I'll be able to move about a bit in my section to find a comfortable spot, especially if the seat I buy puts me in the jaws of hell: Amongst OSU fans who stay to root for Notre Dame.

03/27/2018 - 7:45pm Porter Moser

to Xavier.

03/25/2018 - 8:04pm Thanks

Yeah I”m glad to hear it’s the late game, that gives us more time. Was curious if I could buy the M game only.

03/25/2018 - 7:35pm Amazing television viewing

1. Watch UM go to Final Four last night

2. Watch UM go to Frozen Four today

3. Watch Duke count on Grayson Allen to make the shots to win the game for them and watch him fail miserably, followed by Coach K's sorry sad mug.

4. Anything else on? Does this have to end?

03/25/2018 - 7:32pm Do they sell the semifinal games separately?

I was looking at past attendance records and last year they had the two games listed separately with two different attendance figures. Looks like they sold them separately until 2006, then sold them combined-only, then last year they're listed as separate attendance figures again.

I recall someone telling me when they went a few years ago they made you exit the arena and re-enter, even if you had tickets for both games.

03/25/2018 - 7:03pm Visiting colleges during spring break. That's our stop on 5th.

So, sort of random but mostly lucky.

03/25/2018 - 6:57pm Thanks Bando!

Yeah, I'll only be in town on Thursday anyway. Was wondering if I should just take whatever tickets are on StubHub now (that I assume were just bought up by brokers from the NCAA?) or will more be "released" when the teams are set. Will the athletic department put some up for sale or will they all be spoken for by season ticket holders?

03/25/2018 - 6:48pm Muppets tanned, rested and ready for this much activity.

Got plent of rest during football season.

03/25/2018 - 6:46pm Ron Burgundy voice:

"This weekend is kind of a big deal."

03/25/2018 - 6:33pm Quick: I'm going to be in St. Paul on April 5.

Wasn't going to go to the Frozen Four but now I'd like to go, obviously — should I grab tickets on StubHub NOW or should I try the athletic department once the game is set?

03/24/2018 - 11:20pm I can’t believe it, yet I can totally believe it.

What an outstanding effort against a tough, deep opponent. Simpson handled the full court pressure so well. Wow. Crazy. Subs.

03/22/2018 - 11:25pm They made Casey McNab’s into a Panera? WTF???

What’s next, Schuberg’s is a Chipotle?

03/22/2018 - 11:20pm “The Alibi”

One of the greatest under appreciated bar names, ever.

03/22/2018 - 4:29pm Any idea the potential time of the

regional final game? On Saturday? When I'm supposed to be wine tasting in Traverse City and will need to devise an escape plan? Please tell me they're late games so that I may suggest finishing the "tasting" tour at a microbrewery with TV's?

03/22/2018 - 3:21pm I was never all that excited about Virginia Tech

as we don't have much history with them besides the 2012 Sugar Bowl. And having VT and UW on the schedule along with that brutal B1G opening three games seemed like doom. So I hope they keep UW because I've always liked them and we have lots of regular season and Rose Bowl history. I always considered Don James to be very Bo-like, sort of the Bo of the Pac 10. The way Peterson has them going, that could be a gigantic season opener both home and away.

03/20/2018 - 5:05pm Too much sense

made here.

03/20/2018 - 5:03pm I was surprised to see they dropped Men's swimming too.

The rafters of Jones Natatorium are littered with MAC championship banners. It seems like they'd get a lot of good overflow swimmers from the area's fine Club Wolverine and other USA club teams, that weren't fast enough for Michigan but wanted to stay in the area. That's just a theory through observation though.

03/19/2018 - 3:00pm It's at tweeted stat from the Michigan Athletic Department.

Of course it's arbitrary. And?

03/18/2018 - 12:34am No.

Man. Buns.

03/16/2018 - 8:54pm Cade

McNamara > Cade McNown.

03/09/2018 - 10:28pm Is depth perception a noted problem at LCA

Vs other arenas? Serious question.

03/09/2018 - 7:10pm Speak for yourself.

Alf was a good show. I’d say “way higher.”
