I know Shea and Dylan aren’t as one-in-a-lifetime gifted as Mahomes, but man could our personnel run that Chiefs offense pretty well.

01/20/2019 - 4:08pm Go through this every…

Go through this every Championship Sunday, and my top pick rarely ends up being the Super Bowl match-up.

Most desired Super Bowl, ranked:

1. Chiefs-Rams: Love Tom Brady but just don't need the Patriots in there again. I like the idea of two new-blood QB's. You don't see that in Super Bowls that often. Marino-Montana, Joe was already a bit of a veteran. Same thing with Rothlisberger-Rodgers in 2010. Can't think of one where BOTH QB's were such young all-pro's. Plus that regular-season game was epic.

(tie) 2. Patriots-Saints: On the other hand, I don't think there's been a matchup like this either. For Elway-Favre in '99, for example, Favre still went on to play quite a few more years. Brady-Brees would also have everyone talking about legendary Big Ten quarterbacks for a couple weeks.

(tie) 2. Chiefs-Saints: On paper, the two best teams and probably the best matchup, dream QB head-to-head aside.

4. Patriots-Rams: See above re: Brady and Patriots, and this would be a rematch, and so was last year's game.

So I'm probably going to be happy with 3 out of 4 of these possibilities.

James Harden travels every fucking time he takes a jump shot. Pushes off, dances in place 3-4 steps, back and shoots. Has the trans-continental hop-step mastered or whatever it's called. If there was ever a need to bring back a version of "Jordan Rules" for Harden, it's now.

Pesky? I hadn’t head that rumor since before Christmas.

01/09/2019 - 11:42am There's been something about…

There's been something about good teams losing control of a game this year, and it happened to us twice, but the same thing happened to Alabama v. Clemson, and on a slightly different plane (since the opponent was otherwise pretty bad), OSU vs. Purdue. In all four of these games there's a "tipping point" where the game just gets away from you and nothing goes right. You get forced into a different game plan etc. It happened in our favor this year as well, against Wisconsin with the roughing the snapper penalty. There's a big "swing" ... like the INT and long run-back against Florida. If Shea makes a better throw and that's not picked off or even caught for a touchdown, the score could be 17-13. Instead, after the long run back they go up 20-10, and just like that we go from potentially leading to down two scores. Good teams need to be able to recover, and many do, but we've seen us, Wisconsin, OSU and even Alabama get snowed under by one or two back-breaking swing plays.

They may make me look stupid in the second half, but for this first half for once in my life I can say, "Alabama sucks."

I like to use the Post Date - Newest first sorting feature during game threads, nice new feature that the old site didn't have. However once the thread gets too many posts, the feature seems to get overwhelmed and just dumps you into the middle or back at the beginning of the thread?

META: I'm trying to use the Post Date - Newest first sorting and it seems like once a thread gets too many comments the functionality just gives up and can't handle it anymore, and just dumps you randomly into the middle of the thread.

I'm watching the 'Field Pass' on ESPN2 and it is so off-the-charts annoying it is actually now registering as awesome. I feel like the next logical move is to try to get Tebow drunk.

Clemson is my second favorite college football program after Michigan. There I said it. Washington and LSU are second and third. I just realized they're all purple. Obviously all three are ranked WAY behind Michigan.

01/02/2019 - 11:21am I agree with the OP on all…

I agree with the OP on all points. The game has lost most of its majesty and mystique. And it will probably never come back.

Say what you will about the NCAA as a whole, but they have managed to preserve that "majesty and mystique" for the most part with March Madness. They've survived Kobe and LeBron going straight to the NBA from high school and then one-and-dones and scandals to still put on a super-tight operation with the tourney.

I'm not saying I have any idea how the NCAA could take over the football postseason, or even how it would work. But currently it is indeed a shit show. Add to the OP's list the fact that ND is a half-ACC team that made the playoff only to get matched up with another ACC team that will be on their schedule 8 of the next 15 years; and there should be a Group of Five playoff too but no one cares. The whole year-long "Who's In" and treating the championship game like the Super Bowl is nauseating. Alabama and Clemson are the only teams that ever make the final because they're the only ones with enough NFL-ready athletes to survive 14 games. Total, complete shit show.

Each day we die a little more.

12/28/2018 - 11:29pm Alamo Bowl has probably been…

Alamo Bowl has probably been consistently the best bowl since they went to the Big XII-PAC 12 matchup. Usually high-scoring and pretty close, with attendance always hovering around 60,000 which is nearly full in the Alamodome. Often involves teams just outside the top ten. I thought WSU should have been in the NY6 instead of LSU. I also like Matt Campbell a lot. If Harbaugh ever did decide to go the the NFL or hang it up, this guy should be top of the list.

If they ever expand the NY6 due to playoffs or more “access,” the Alamo should be the next bowl up.

12/28/2018 - 2:25pm Shit, man ... Army's not an…

We'll lose a game or two before OSU but we're going to need to beat the Buckeyes this year or we're going to be staring into the abyss ... or at least waiting until 2021 with Senior McCaffrey and this '19 class as non-draft-eligible-yet juniors. Black and Martin might/should still be around too.

Anyway, I gotta believe we'll get 'em next year. The whole season will hinge on that. And if the losses are to Wisconsin and Penn State on the road and our wins are the home rivalry games it will be a good season.

12/23/2018 - 9:34pm The 2021 season look…

The 2021 season look interesting in particular. Senior McCaffrey at QB and this lights-out recruiting class in their 3rd year. Dax, Charbonnet, etc al will not be draft eligible until the following year. Wash, MSU, OSU all at home.

There are no dumb thoughts around here. Only dumb questions. But yours was both.

That game was bonkers, seemed like an Ohio State-Alabama matchup except at the D2 level. The team from the south just a bit more athletic. Proud of the way the Bulldogs fought until the end (thank you refs and some boneheaded Valdosta State clock management, too). FSU now holding a D2 basketball championship and a football runner-up. Not too shabby. (Alum here, obviously.)

I was at Ferris watching the ‘89 national title game and when Rumeal hit the free throws you could year the entire dorm explode with yelling and cheering.

So fuck off about “the MSU side of the state.” What does that even mean except you need to make tough-talking troll-posts so you can read them back while you jerk off.

Jayru Campbell sighting in the D2 semifinals for Ferris State on ESPN3. Good for him, for turning things around. After his issues as an MSU commit I guess he won a JUCO NC and now he could win a D2, as well. Did not know that.
