Brian said that all three of Duke, UNC and Virginia had top 5 strength of records due to their difficult schedules. Hard to complain about that IMO. You could argue Tennessee deserved one, but they probably deserved it over Gonzaga and not the three ACC one seeds.
Virginia will go out early again don’t have the fire power to win big games
They have the #2 offense according to KenPom. That seems pretty good.
This is the time of year where people just say shit because there are a million other hot takes.
UVA was without it's best offensive player last year. Guy and Jerome can ball and now they have a freshman starting who's one of the more dynamic players they've had in some time.
Not saying they can't lose, they still have droughts - just like Michigan. But they're capable and SHOULD be in the Final Four this year. They finally have some offense to pair with their defense.
In some ways, Michigan is like UVA-lite.
No way we lose to a 16 seed. Iggy-less or not.

And what they lost to a 16 last year? Beat Wisconsin by 7 Maryland by 5 this year KenPom baloney maybe just award them the national championship?
Yeah, bias isn't a great description of what happened here. They're legit basketball teams. I do think it's a problem that three of the #1 seeds came from the same conference, but that's probably not something the selection committee thinks about.
Michigan fans have no reason to complain. We got stupid lucky being in the West and not placed against Duke. State got screwed and should rightfully be pissed.
Truth. We have a nice draw.
State would have a couple more losses or close to it if the refs weren't having a field day. They have no right to be pissed.
Yea but imo we have the hardest bracket at first glance. Gonzaga beat Duke at full strength this year so they are no slouch.
That Duke team was barely learning to play together at that point. Also had traveled waaaaaay out of their time zone.

The Duke that UNC beat twice was very not good. Interestingly, Duke gets a pass for losing those two games because everyone knows they were bad because they were without Zion. And UNC also gets credit for winning them as if Zion was still there! UNC should be the first 2 seed. But it'll all wash out in the end.
That was back in November or early Dec. Do you remember what the tomato can alley December tour did to us?
If Gonzaga played in the B1G, I think they'd be as likely as anyone to win it. But they haven't been steeled by a conference slate like the B1G.
The committee watched the officiating hose job today and treated MSU accordingly.
Bracket don't lie.

One of the dumbest things the B1G ever did was when they moved a big chunk of TV rights away from ABC/ESPN. It helps to have the sports industrial complex behind you.
Championship game on Sunday after it could have any impact on seeding doesn't help, either.
Need to move the B1G championship game to Saturday - they completely ignore the outcome of the Sunday games unless it involves someone that needs to win the championship to get in.
ACC bias? B1G has 8 teams to their 7...
Yeah, but who got a favorable draw in terms of opponent and location? Delaney doesn't carry any weight with the selection committee.
8 Big Ten teams in more then the ACC but till this conference wins a national championship it’s not going to get No. 1 seeds
Yep, just like the WCC.
Oh, wait.
The ACC is really good this year. If Michigan had taken 2/3 from MSU, they’d have been a 1. MSU got dropped to a 2 due to their questionable losses.
I think had Michigan won 2 of 3 they’d still be a 2 seed but they didn’t and finished 11-6 down the stretch and got their high 2 seed on their 17-0 start this team didn’t finish well and not going in to the tournament with momentum

At 30-4 with two wins over MSU, Michigan would have been the No. 1 overall seed. They didn't achieve that, which is the reason they are a 2 seed. But to say a 2 seed was M's ceiling no matter the resume is inaccurate.
Those 3 teams are really good, did you watch any games this year?
Probably not...and if a yes, not in a analytic way.
Yeah I saw that one UNC game where they got hammered by a B1G team. You might have caught a portion of it also. Like 17 points or something. Was that one of the 1 seeds we are talking about? Can't remember who it was against, but they had these really dope gold jersey's on.
I watched UM run UNC off the court.
State should have gotten their #1 IMO.
That's just one game, the committee also saw MSU get swept by IU and lose to Illinois, that's what kept them from a one seed. If UNC had gotten run off the court vs Duke in the acc tourney like against UM, I'd agree that they should have been a 2-seed, but they didn't.
Yeah look I’m not getting too pissed about this but State got totally hosed with the seeding, were we somehow seeded higher??
No, the committee considers the distance a team has to travel as the first consideration in seeding, so MSU in the Midwest is the higher two seed
This is correct. Except for the Midwest (it's East) part.
No one is aligned with ESPN in some grand sports conspiracy, you fucking tool. This goddamn narrative for every fucking sport is just dumb as hell. It’s like people like you don’t posses the brain cells to come up with any other possible reason other than “durrr...ESPN conspiracy.”
I mean ESPN doesn’t even broadcast the fucking tournament. It’s CBS/Turner. Get your conspiracies right, dipshit.
Like when the NBA rigged a draft then had rigged refs for years right? LMAO
Have you watched ACC basketball this year? Those three teams are three of the best in the country and played like it.
Maybe. I guess we'll find out if all three make the FF. But do you really think all three would've had similar seasons playing the Big Ten Schedule? I don't. And I think that both MSU and UM have the same or better records than they do now with an ACC schedule. Including playing Duke and UVA twice.
Put Duke, UNC, and Virginia in the Big Ten this year and they finish 1, 2, 3 in whatever order. Maybe have a tie with a Michigan, MSU, or Purdue in there in the top three, but it doesn't matter.
Cool. I just don't see it. Those three didn't face a 20 game schedule or a deep very deep conference. I think that really takes a toll on B1G teams. But we'll see!
The one thing I noticed is that they stacked several bigten teams in the same areas. Not very many will make it past sweet 16 because of that.
Yes, 3 #1 seeds for one conference.
Lol, absolutely ridiculous.
Michigan's bracket based on the way the season was going all along (tracking for a 2 seed), is as good as what we all could have hoped for. We'd get #2 in the West, and they would basically put both Nevada and Gonzaga in our way, them being "western" teams. They're both great programs, but they ain't no UNC/Duke/UVa ACC team or UK/Tennessee SEC team. We're basically staring down Gonzaga, Nevada, Texas Tech and Florida State on our way to the Final Four, and not one of the aforementioned programs. We done lucked out.
Agree if we learn to score in tight games and not throw up prayers or play one on one ball their offense is not good
We really haven't learned how not to play hero ball this year so I fully expect us fans to be breaking some TVs in crunch time.
Not only that, I think Buffalo can knock off Texas Tech. I really didn't want Houston after last year.
Buffalo is this years Loyola Chicago
I will take our draw over MSU’s any day. The refs might screw us but the committee must love us. Final Four, here we come!
Seeds mean nothing after the first ball gets tipped.
First two rounds they mean quite a bit. UVA and MSU choke jobs as the exceptions that prove the rule.
All 3 beat Michigan or MSU by 20. Zion will get 35 against MSU, 40 if they played M.
