Sucks for Harrison who signed on knowing Urban was gone. Rumor was he did not like Urban. Looks like Urban will still be very involved.
December 22nd, 2018 at 7:56 PM ^
He made his bed, now he get to enjoy it. I hope he sees Urban all day, every day.
December 22nd, 2018 at 8:04 PM ^
Once a buck and win at all costs. Life is more than this slime.
December 22nd, 2018 at 7:43 PM ^
After any nuclear apocalypse only two things will be left alive - Meyer and Cockroaches. A strong argument can be made that they are one and the same.
Fuck O$U. That place is a joke.
December 22nd, 2018 at 7:50 PM ^
His official title is "Assistant AD in Charge of Coverups and Other Nefarious Shit".
They really really didn't want Urban to... pull an Urban and head to USC next year.
December 22nd, 2018 at 7:53 PM ^
What an embarrassment for anyone associated with that school. Shameful.
December 22nd, 2018 at 8:02 PM ^
Wow. Hard to beat spaert for sleeze.
December 22nd, 2018 at 8:03 PM ^
They are going to find anyway possible to keep him involved with the football program. Now he can still talk to recruits while they are on visits and give advice to Day. He'll be the coach behind the curtains.

December 22nd, 2018 at 8:06 PM ^
I’m curious how involved he’s allowed to be in the football team. More specifically, recruiting.
Any thoughts?
December 22nd, 2018 at 8:16 PM ^
Well he probably won’t be allowed to wear a headset on the sidelines. That would be too obvious.
December 22nd, 2018 at 8:16 PM ^
It’s OSU. They waited to see how well Day could close on national signing day, weren’t happy, and now urban is assistant AD. What do you think is going to happen?
December 22nd, 2018 at 8:20 PM ^
Conveniently waited until after Harrison commitment to announce this....well done, and expected.
December 23rd, 2018 at 8:16 AM ^
Wonder if they tried to bring the kid's HS coach onto the staff
December 22nd, 2018 at 8:22 PM ^
Just texted this to my friend from high school who went there for college (her father played football there)
Meyer named OSU Assistant AD
WOW! OSU can't even pretend as to where they stand on the moral spectrum.
December 22nd, 2018 at 8:23 PM ^
Harrison can likely get get a waiver to attend another school. Shades of Mike Webber recruitment.
If I'm Meyer I'm going to USC and getting out of that shithole.
December 22nd, 2018 at 8:32 PM ^
Meyer is the biggest piece of shit in that shithole.
December 22nd, 2018 at 8:24 PM ^
Can’t make this shit up! :-D
December 22nd, 2018 at 8:31 PM ^
He is gonna help clean up the AD /s
Shady business.
Consolation prize, when we beat them he is in some way tied to that program ?
December 22nd, 2018 at 8:32 PM ^
With him and Gene Smith, they can overlook twice as many awful situations!
December 22nd, 2018 at 8:40 PM ^
I thought MSU was ridiculous about keeping everything in house and over promoting from within, then osu goes ahead and raises the bar. Maybe the boys in Lansing will name Izzo president when engler slithers back into retirement to try to one up the buckeyes.
December 22nd, 2018 at 8:41 PM ^
Anyone think he won’t be the one pulling strings behind the scenes for the football team?
Yeah, me neither.
December 22nd, 2018 at 8:53 PM ^
Well he’s also teaching his leadership and character class. Andy Fastow heading the accounting department. What a disgrace of a university.
December 22nd, 2018 at 8:54 PM ^
Nobody really has mentioned that Gene Smith sounds defensive and passive aggressive in that article. I think it's pretty clear he doesn't want Meyer there.
December 22nd, 2018 at 9:01 PM ^
They just can't quit him, apparently.
December 22nd, 2018 at 9:21 PM ^
This is just weird. I hope it all collapses on them and justice prevails.
December 22nd, 2018 at 9:31 PM ^
What an absolute fucking joke. I think this is some buyer's remorse on osu's behalf. I don't think they trust Day, so Urbz is being retained as a professor and asst AD so that when Day fails, urbz cyst will suddenly be gone and urbz can come save the day

December 23rd, 2018 at 1:55 AM ^
It's almost like they took a course from the Ed Martin-Steve Fisher School of Ethics in Athletics. I think this was a program UM had in the 1990s. Tuition is $600,000.
December 22nd, 2018 at 9:36 PM ^
Great example for the teams to follow....not
December 22nd, 2018 at 9:43 PM ^
No, assistant *to* the AD.
December 22nd, 2018 at 9:45 PM ^
Misleading title to this thread. He is being named “an” assistant athletic director. Quite a few people hold that title.
December 22nd, 2018 at 9:47 PM ^
December 22nd, 2018 at 9:55 PM ^
this is so odd. No shame.
December 22nd, 2018 at 10:01 PM ^
Hilarious.
OSU has always wanted to be Bo, minus the integrity.
December 22nd, 2018 at 10:17 PM ^
I was glad he was gone, now I have a gut feeling he's gonna be very involved with the football program still. Will probably be calling plays from a private room with a headset on
December 22nd, 2018 at 10:25 PM ^
OSU just doubling down on the sleaze.
December 22nd, 2018 at 10:35 PM ^
as Assistant AD, that should provide amble time to pork interns
December 22nd, 2018 at 10:37 PM ^
hmmm
surprised he wasn't named President of the University?
they sold their soul to winning at football a long time ago so what does it matter?
might as well go all in with all your chips
December 22nd, 2018 at 11:09 PM ^
I can't figure out if he has more dirt on them or if they have more dirt on him. Tis perplexing.
December 23rd, 2018 at 12:08 AM ^
Honestly doesn't surprise me. That school has been shady for years and this just adds to the dung pile down there.
December 23rd, 2018 at 12:25 AM ^
AKA chief recruiter and head football consultant

Horrible people have one thing that allows them to keep functioning at positions of power and influence in this world. They have conviction. A staunch inner appraisal of themselves that reaffirms their perception that what they are doing is not wrong. There is a reason narcissistic assholes like Meyer( and others) exist. They believe with all their inner fortitude that what they are doing is right. When checked, they can either claim that someone or something else is at fault, or my personal favorite, they yell and interject louder than you.
December 23rd, 2018 at 8:02 AM ^
This is just sad. This football-crazed school of “higher learning” will soon probably name Jim Tressel as president without a Ph.D to replace their President Drake whom hasnt exactly been pleased with the the football operation of late.
Don’t ever be surprised.
”Winning above all else!”

I realize I have to walk a fine line posting here (like I've been doing for 5+ yrs), and I also understand the Michigan natives are restless, but this is direct from the Wisconsin-Barry Alvarez playbook. The guy understandably can't handle the day-to-day role of coaching a powerhouse football program (including the recruiting aspect)- he has a cyst on this brain. This move keeps him involved in the program, utilizes his abilities so solicit donations, and keeps him in the bullpen as 'the closer' if needed for a recruiting pitch.
Since he had previously ceded non-special teams play calling to Day and Grinch/Schiano, he's not going to be radioing orders to Day from the pressbox. If something blows up (like Bielema leaving for Arkansas rather than coach the bowl), he steps in temporarily.
I know it doesn't fit the whole 'sexing coeds, committing gangland murders on behalf of Aaron Hernandez's ghost, domestic abuse ring in the basement of a Columbus-area pizza and/or tattoo shop' narrative borne out of football stagnancy you folks have to espouse, but hey, you still root for the Harvard of the Midwest (well, except for those of you who renounce your fanhood after every loss).
(Sorry for the last paragraph; please ctrl-v one or more of the following):
A. Fuck OSU and fuck you
B. Don't crash your semi while posting
C. How lame that you visit your rival's site
D. Why did you do that in an otherwise perfectly fine cooler?

No fine line to walk. You are free to spew whatever delusion you need. Cognitive dissonance is your friend, enjoy.
Everyone outside CBUS knows this guy is a lying scumbag. Yes, he covered up crimes at UF for years. Yes, Aaron Hernandez was one of the players he helped get off the hook multiple times (drug tests, misdemeanors, rumors of gun violence!) at UF. Did Meyer murder anybody? - Pretty sure he didn't, but he enabled a crap ton of criminal activity at UF. Yes, and, of course, the whole co-ed thing. But everyone deserves a second chance...
And what did he do with his? Continued to win at all costs. His redemption and atonement tour at OSU was a farce (Zach Smith, etc). Hell of a coach, hell of a recruiter, shit human being who was still a win at all costs scumbag.
But hey, he won you a crap ton of games and a National title, so I can see why you'd defend him...and your efforts to convolute the narrative are well scripted by citing our own fanbase's hyperbole of what a piece of shit Meyer is and how morally bankrupt OSU is.
But when all the banter is silenced, and the smoke clears, the image and legacy of the man is all that remains, and no amount of mental gymnastic with which you choose to engage or spin the narrative will change the fact that all other fanbases, the media, and any minimally observant Homo Sapien sees through the charade. And no, it's not because he is incredibly successful and won a lot...it's because he's a hypocritical dirtbag win at all costs morally bankrupt narcissist.
