Michigan loves to run a play that gets a 1 yard gain 15 times to setup the 25 yard gain when they decide to throw in the wrinkle.

Meanwhile the opposing coach is like "You got me good there, you can go ahead and take your 2.5 YPP average. Good job!"

Anybody remember the SNES game, "Bill Laimbeer's Combat Basketball"? The best team was 5 Bill Laimbeer robots.

You really have to squint to try to see a swipe at Michigan here.

Unbelievable. Now somebody just let Wagner know the tournament has started and we're good.

03/16/2018 - 4:28am Because it was a terrible

Because it was a terrible game and Montana played terribly. There's only so much credit you can give to the Michigan defense.

03/16/2018 - 12:36am It's not like Montana even

It's not like Montana even played well is the distressing thing, Montana was pretty close to terrible tonight.

Wagner ought to sit for the rest of the game, he's just a liability out there tonight.

This isn't really a case of Montana looking that good, Michigan just looks lousy so far.

These refs aren't necessarily out to get Michigan, but they'll whistle you for looking at a guy with bad intent.

I never pay attention to baketball till late April anyway, so Beilein is aces in my book!

02/27/2018 - 3:51am If boys were outpreforming

If boys were outpreforming girls acadmically we'd pretty much automatically put it down to bias.

I don't think it's unreasonable to wonder if instead of an entire gender failing we're just seeing a system that has become more favorable to girls.

02/19/2018 - 5:26pm I hate parsing reputations

I hate parsing reputations like this. I mean, yes, it sort of matters from the standpoint of that first job you get out of college, or interships over the summer, but the reality is a school does so many diferent things, and has so many different teachers, that pretending like there's some kind of objective ranking system where you can definitvely say "Michigan is better than Northwestern" is dumb. The reality is that 95% of students won't even come close to taking full advantage of their educational opportunities, anyway.

02/19/2018 - 5:21pm Well if it helps, I don't

Well if it helps, I don't care that much. Imo, they're all excellent schools with world class teachers, and more resources than most students will ever even consider taking advantage of.

02/19/2018 - 5:14pm I don't know (or care) what

I don't know (or care) what the latest US News rankings are, but Michigan and Northwestern are basically percieved as equals academically, Stanford is a little bit above those two, and ND is probably a little bit below those two.

I can't imagine somebody who's a D1 athlete is going to care that much about the relatively minor differences between the academics of 4 of the best academic programs in D1. I mean, it'd be a bad idea for an undergrad who wasn't even playing a sport to try to select between Northwestern and Michigan by trying to judge the tiny difference in reputation.

While we're on the subject, a word of warning, never sign up for Windows Insider. It is surprisingly difficult to actually get out of the Windows Insider program.

02/13/2018 - 12:38pm Sorry OP,  but you're

Sorry OP,  but you're probably screwed. Windows.Old sounds like where windows would keep the last version of Windows, but when you updated, the current version became the last version and so the stuff in windows.old would be seen as 2 versions ago and deleted by the machine. This is all speculation though.

If you have a system restore point you could try that, but I don't believe that's enabled by default in windows 10, so it's unlikely you had it set up beforehand.

It's not very likely to be successful but you could try enabling hidden files/folders and doing a Cortana search for the files or the folder.

Anyway, I think you're screwed here, but I hope somebody proves me wrong.

01/11/2018 - 12:20pm That's a good point, I'm not

That's a good point, I'm not sure that you can. I don't want to list my email on here, either, for fear of spam.

I'll give you the quick and dirty version of my standard college essay advice: Most prospective students think of college essays like a cover letter for a job, an opportunity to bolster and explain the info already in their application. This is how so many college essays end up being about how the student took a trip to fill in the blank impovershied country to build houses, and that really opened their eyes, it's a soft sell of your extracurriculurs.

The problem with that sort of approach, is 95% of college essays are humble brags, and your humble brag is going to run together with all the other humble brags in the minds of the admissions committee.

What you want to do instead is figure out what makes you genuinely unique. We all sort of assume our own uniqueness as a given, but the college admissions committee doesn't know you from Adam. So, take a personal inventory, and ask yourself, what do you think about more than other people, what do you approach diferently than your peers, etc. When you identify something in that area, that's what your essay needs to be about, and the essay should take the form of an honest examination of that trait.

For example, if you were, say, unusually committed to your friendships, that's a perfectly valid essay topic, especially if you can turn that into an intellectual examination of why that is and what motivates you.

The act of intellectually grappling with an issue and breaking it down, makes for a much more compelling essay than the humble brag variety, and what you're trying to do with your essay is not convince admissions that you're a good student, they already know that, that's why they're reading your essay, it's to distinguish yourself as an individual who has a perspective that they think will be valueable to add to their class.

Try that model, and add a powerful hook at the start of your essay to wake up the reader and draw them in, and you're probably in good shape.

01/11/2018 - 11:12am Hey Orlando, I used to teach

Hey Orlando, I used to teach college writing if you'd like me to look over your essay and give you notes. I have taken pity on your unweighted 3.7 not being good enough. Just PM me if you want me to take a look at your essay (one essay).

Full disclosure: There's a 70% chance I'll tell you to rewrite it entirely.

01/11/2018 - 10:57am Those standards seem almost

Those standards seem almost suspiciously high, how can your average student have a 4.0 and a 34 act score?

01/08/2018 - 3:20am People complain that OP is

People complain that OP is bad, write 100 posts to say it's a bad OP rather than just letting the topic die.

01/03/2018 - 4:18pm I don't understand the case

I don't understand the case that Bama still didn't deserve to be in the playoff after they convincingly beat the #1 seed.

01/03/2018 - 4:16pm I say good, a little pot

I say good, a little pot stirring will get us closer to an 8 team playoff with a spot for the group of 5, and UCF has probably earned the right to complain that their undefeated very good football team never had a shot of even competing for a national championship.

01/03/2018 - 4:08pm I doubt this bowl game alone

I doubt this bowl game alone will have much impact on the next class, but it probably does contribute to the need for Michigan to come out of the gate next year looking like a competent offensive team. If Michigan starts next year ranked at all, everybody and their brother is going to be screaming "pretenders" until we prove the offense is improved.

Not sure why people felt the need to downvote you to oblivion for raising the question, though.

01/03/2018 - 4:02pm Jesus, every topic I open it

Jesus, every topic I open it feels like you have to scroll past a hundred posts of people speculating who a particular poster really is.

Somewhat ironic, since the second thing I always have to scroll past is people complaining that a topic, about Michigan sports, got created to begin with.

01/03/2018 - 12:22pm I'm glad to see a changeup in

I'm glad to see a changeup in the offensive staff, but can we talk more about becoming a pistol team? Because that's a big damn transition. I'm not sure that it's a bad idea, but that's a huge adjustment, and, I mean, do we have the recievers for this? Because the recieving corps this year did not inspire confidence.

01/03/2018 - 12:10pm I think he was predicting

I think he was predicting that he would go low in the first round, not outside of the first round.

01/02/2018 - 9:50am Generally you don't declare

Generally you don't declare early for the draft if you're not reasonably sure you will be drafted.

01/01/2018 - 11:32pm He was the one who pancaked

He was the one who pancaked that running back in pass protection right? That was a brief moment of fun today/

01/01/2018 - 11:17pm I wouldn't crown Georgia as

I wouldn't crown Georgia as perpetual champs yet. Alabama is Alabama. It's super annoying but Alabama basically constitutes its own tier of elite, then there's everybody else.

01/01/2018 - 11:11pm Neg away if you need to, but

Neg away if you need to, but this is why the committee's decision made sense to me, Alabama's ridiculous recruiting basically always makes them one of the 4 best teams in college football, and if your objective is to take the best teams, not the most deserving teams, if Alabama is anywhere near qualified for the playoff, you take them.

01/01/2018 - 11:08pm I imagine the Alabama defense

I imagine the Alabama defense probably appreciates the Alabama offense/ special teams not turning the ball over 5 times.

01/01/2018 - 10:04pm Wisconsin wasn't even really

Wisconsin wasn't even really in the conversation after they lost the championship game because they didn't play anybody, so this logic doesn't really hold, and you don't make good football teams by avoiding challenges.

01/01/2018 - 9:58pm Oklahoma had one turnover and

Oklahoma had one turnover and Michigan had 5.

01/01/2018 - 9:29pm Hard to enjoy this one after

Hard to enjoy this one after the terrible Michigan preformance today, but admittedly this was a classic. It's a shame one of the teams had to lose.

01/01/2018 - 8:55pm The more I think about it,

The more I think about it, the more people saying the fans "aren't loud enough" pisses me off. If this was any team but Michigan, after the years of this BS we've endured, there would hardly be a fan base left.

01/01/2018 - 8:51pm If the team stops

If the team stops underpreforming and blowing it the fans will get louder. We all feel PTSD coming on every time we witness a collapse like today. Maybe if Michigan teams spanning the last decade weren't frequently prone to total collapses, the fans would be more enthused.

01/01/2018 - 8:47pm Please conduct this

Please conduct this experiment with OSU or MSU fans, if you get 10 out of 50 that can name 10 players I'll mail you a shiny silver dollar.

01/01/2018 - 3:26pm OK, I'm turning this off.

OK, I'm turning this off.

01/01/2018 - 3:13pm Jesus, this is bitterly

Jesus, this is bitterly disappointing, I thought people were freaking out for no reason, but Michigan does it's typical thing and completely blows a game it had well in hand. I was a Peters supporter, and a supporter of the offensive staff but enough is enough, blowing this game is inexcusable.
