Per Sam: Battle for Dax Hill may not be over

Submitted by ThatGuyCeci on December 11th, 2018 at 1:38 PM

Per Sam Webb last night on TMI and again today on the recruiting roundup, the race for Dax Hill MAY not be over. Sam cautions fans to stop with the accusations of extra benefits, one because it’s indecent, and two because of self-interest (so you’re saying there’s a chance?). So while we are all collectively upset about what went down, all hope is not lost. Sam also mentioned Aubrey Solomon as a precedent. It’s not necessarily the exact same situation, but there are definitely parallels. Take it FWIW.

Sounds like a great way for Sam to get listeners and more sign ups for his website. The fact Michigan fans still fall for him and others BS is really surprising.

I generally agree, but I think there might be something to this.  Harbaugh spoke out about the NFL rumors within hours of Hill's announcement.  Given how kind of "out of the blue" his de-commitment was, I kind of think those rumors and Hill's decision might have been related.

None of those guys. They all share the same info, write it 5 different ways, then tell you recruiting is ever changing when they are wrong.

Same with the team BS they spew because not one of them is ever allowed in practice and they never tell anyone the info is from some 3rd rate manager and try to present it as fact.

Some of you will get tired of it at some point. I understand how they draw you into it because I used to be in that same boat.

Think about this, is recruiting a kid ever really over? It sure wasn't over for Bama when Hill flipped from Michigan. Why wouldn't the coaching staff still try to purse him?

Didn't realize you asked me a question on who I follow for Michigan news? Your first question was "Who do I follow?" which I replied no one. Now you are asking me "Who I follow for Michigan news"

Michigan news is a pretty broad term. So what specifically are you looking for?

What?   Hill actually committed.   Are you saying it was a hoax?   Why would Sam be embarrassed?   Only way Sam to be embarrassed is if he said he was committing and he didn't.  Sam is now responsible for the moods of teenagers.  GTFO.

This is the worst take ever. The kid committed and before he committed Sam was the only one saying we had s chance. If the kid changes his mind, you are gonna spin this into it being Sam's fault? You are an idiot.

All same has ever said is that he's a great player..excellent talent...game changer.  I'm sure he was very excited that Dax originally chose Michigan, but why would he have to save face?  He didn't lose the recruit.  Was it his job to keep Dax committed to Michigan?

He doesn't have to save face.  Sam will usually try to provide all the nuances especially when he has callers lined up.  He's really good at providing counter while being cordial.

I couldn't do his job, honestly I'd hang up on half the people and get fired.

I do think a big part of it is trying to curb the collective meltdown from the fanbase. That board has been embarrassing for the past 3 days and he is just trying to make everyone feel a little better by dropping a nugget here and there that inspires hope. He should know better because that doesn’t really help the situation. Sam sometimes needs to know what to lead on, because of course the coaches will continue to recruit him. That doesn’t mean you should get the hopes up of the fanbase with misleading statements.

I'm not sure why you're so jaded regarding Sam, but I think you're in the significant minority.

I listened to the show this a.m. and I don't think Sam was implying the Hill recruitment might not be over.  He was mainly trying to get a lot of Michigan fans to not despair and get away from the ledge over his decommitment.  The Solomon analogy was just to show how unpredictable and crazy the recruiting process can be.  I think until Sam or someone else has hard evidence the coaches are still going after him and Hill or his family say something that leaves the door open, we have to move on.

Ironic, I heard a rumor from someone I know and trust that Dax already flipped back.

I definitely don't think that's the case, but I think where there's smoke, there's fire. And Sam wouldn't say we have a chance if we didn't

Oh I'm not holding my breath, and I thought my friend was fucking with me. But I think the fact I've heard it from a couple of different avenues just means there's optimism regarding him. I'd still bet he signs with Bama, just sharing a tiny tidbit I know. Also, Trevor Keegan is picking Michigan on Friday. I've called that one for awhile, and I stand by it.
