Michigan playing Florida in the Peach Bowl

Again... Not an exciting matchup but let's beat the the Gators. Go Blue!

Seems like a lot of people have way too much energy about this. It’s a good bowl against a good team and it’s on a Saturday and will get great exposure. I’m not saying it’s ideal, but I’m damn happy for our team and players and we get to show out in an area we have made a recruiting priority.

For people pretending not to care about football or bowls, y’all seem to care an awful lot.

Anyone in marketing will tell you the opposite is true. Being on the same day as the playoff is the best scenario (other than the Rose Bowl) because everyone will be thinking about CFB and will watch all day. We will have a national audience.

Look, I agree that it’s a stale match up but the idea that it should be boycotted or is a crappy bowl is just sour grapes and sounds pathetic. We have a shot at an 11 win season, and that is worth celebrating and supporting. The bitching about this game is bordering on the post ND BPONE.

Not sure where you got that from but in terms of exposure I think this is pretty terrible.

The game is on the same day as the playoffs so we'll already be overshadowed, plus we've beaten Florida 3 times in the past 4 years already so there's definitely going to be some viewer/fan fatigue on both sides. Also have to realize both teams lack offensive firepower so it's probably going to be a lower scoring matchup, which, again, is less appealing to the average viewer.

To top it all off, I'd argue Florida is one of the worst 9-3 teams out there. Won their two games versus ranked opponents by just a touchdown each, barely beat USC, plus got smoked by Georgia and Mizzou, who isn't all that good.

Don't understand "overshadowed" given the playoff games follow the peach - many folks will dedicate their entire saturday to cfb and michigan / florida will be the appetizer.  Always thought the old deal where eight big ten teams would make bowls and they'd schedule three or four at the same time was crazy.

Do understand not wanting to see another michigan / florida game though - stale matchup.

Cheers.

I'm looking forward to watching the Wolverines in a good bowl game against a top ten team, on college football Saturday, with a chance to finish 11-2, one of the best finishes in the last 20 years.  If some of you think it's too boring, don't watch and move on to basketball season.  I'll be looking forward to your football takes when you check back in during spring practice.

The Peach Bowl is a Michigan football game. Ill be watching. Id fly to Georgia if I can scrape up the money. I absolutely love this team. Frustrated and looking for a positive to a crappy end of our conference schedule. I think our D will be back looking to make Brown proud. And maybe i"m delusional, but I think we will see OL improvement. After all they have 4 weeks to prepare. Plenty of time to work on wrinkles and intensity.

I live in Gainesville and believe me, I loved running their nose in it but this is getting crazy. We’ve played UF more than some B1G teams over the last 10 years

Incredibly uninspiring. Seems like it will be a carbon copy of the last 2 matchups, which already weren't good.

On the other hand, maybe Harbaugh and co. will just continue to absolutely shit the bed and not prepare for this game a la OSU. Could make things interesting.

I might be wrong, but I just can't help thinking that some of our players in their last year that won't want to play in the Peach Bowl in Atlanta against Florida, would want to play in the Fiesta Bowl in Arizona against LSU.

There is enough of a difference in the two venues and teams to matter.

Don't even feel bad about being on a plane while this is happening.... they had a good season... they couldn't find them a better bowl than this?

Mullen will have Florida ready to play. He is a good coach and this will be nothing close to the teams that Michigan blasted under FORMER coach MCelwain. Mullen will watch film so expect them to run lots of short crossing routes and of course Michigan will be in man coverage again the entire time. I expect to see a much different Florida team under Mullen.

I get why we don't like it, because our other option was to play LSU, whom we have never played.

But Florida's only other option was UCF.

Would Florida really rather play a local team they look down on, that can only make them look bad in defeat but not good in victory, versus getting revenge on Michigan?

If we were in that same situation, I would rather play the stale Michigan-South Carolina matchup again and have a shot at revenge, then play CMU or Western.

Darn...not a very exciting matchup. That said, I hope this team comes with some “want to” and a coherent game plan is put together.

I do believe it means something for the first time in 20+ (?) years to potentially finish in the top 5-8ish.

That is a step towards being elite. Meaning, even in years you don’t hit your ultimate goal you are a perennial top 10 or better team.

I know it’s not the freshest game in terms of opponent. But it’s still a top 10 matchup in an NY6 bowl. People wanting to protest the game are ridiculous. We need to support our team, and beat the shit out of a top 10 ranked SEC team. Finish 11-2 top 5 in the nation and carry that momentum into next season.

I mean does this really surprise anyone?

We got rolled by our "rival" on National TV in yet another year where this was "our best team team" under Harbaugh.

Yeah, I guess we could have declined and went to the Outback - but it is all about $$$$ and not Harbaughs decision.

Saw that as well - currently an analyst

Offensive analyst Ben McDaniels will coach Michigan's wide receivers in bowl practices in place of Jim McElwain, who left for Central Michigan to become its head coach.

Yaaawn. Wow this is lame.

Hey, at least by next year I can add a $5 jordan brand peach bowl shirt to the collection.

Fanatics still selling Jordan brand orange bowl dry fits lol.

Gosh this season was a huge let down. And it's really gonna prevent a contingent of us from getting hyped ever again.  I will never ever expect a big ten outright win from Harbaugh ... If it happens it happens and I'll be cloud nine but I truly don't think it'll happen.

Disagree.  Loved this season.  Revenge Tour was fun.  Winning 10 games in a row was awesome - a strong achievement.  Getting butt-stomped by OSU at the end was depressing, but being treated like a leper for the bowl games is just weird.  We should be in the Fiesta Bowl versus LSU as the highest ranked team for the two games. I don't give a flying fuck about Florida and UCF "can't play each other" bullshit.  UM deserved better than getting tooled by the needs of the f-ing SEC.  I hate college football.
