This will be the thread for hot takes and snowflakes regarding the defense and defensive playcalling versus Ohio State.

Urban Meyer is a superior coach in every way shape or form. That was an A+ coaching job. Harbaugh shit his pants

Understated. Don’t like him but he’s now 9-0 as underdog in big games.

He and his staff got whatever they wanted against the one trick pony D

And for a team that has sucked defensively, they shut down Michigan when they needed.

I credit Winovich and Gary for playing hurt. Quality players; just bad luck that they couldn't be their best in a game of this magnitude for the program.

Michigan needed to pressure Haskins and got nothing...

totally out coached and out played on defense.

its been a good year, but this kind of loss makes it feel shitty.

I predicted 10-3 as being a solid year, but Michigan just can't beat Urban Meyer it seems like

So, Don Brown D is averaging around giving up ~40 pts to teams with any pulse.

LB’s covering backs 2 yds from the sideline, DB’s lost in space vs athletes.

No more hype vs crappy teams. This D was exposed the last three weeks and this was the glass of Merlot

I guess the entirety of my take here is this - if we get the Rose Bowl, let's not do that again in the Rose Bowl, whatever that was. Also, hopefully Bush and Long are doing well right now.

We always talk about halftime adjustments. But we should have know we didn't have that luxury this game. Ugh. I am so angry it hurts. And I'm over feeling like this.

How is it that Michigans rush was top notch all year and then today against a line that was toasted all year long they couldn't get to the QB a single time. it was like the d line was a bunch of high schoolers who were playing against a pro bowl o line all of a sudden

Maybe Don Brown needs to have some nightmares about Ohio State for a change.

Harbaugh is 0-4 vs. the Buckeyes.  Brown is 0-3.

And all we are going to hear for the next 12 months is excuse after excuse.

The saddest part is that yet another Michigan senior class is going out the door 0-4 versus Ohio State.

I honestly think “win with defense” is a thing that  can’t/won’t happen anymore.  Just recruit offense and survive on offense.

It works for everyone else.

I'm a lot less in love with Don Brown than I was at this time yesterday. Also, I guess talent does matter. Not sure. Maybe?

By the way, anyone know if Zach Harrison watched the game today?

- No pressure on Haskins.  Zero sacks.  Very few hurries.  Didn't hit him or even make him uncomfortable all day.

- That fact made the coverage look even worse (it was already bad)

- Dang, tough day for Watson.  Announcers (rightly) calling him out also

- A lot of snaps for Kemp and Mone, wondering whether having Aubrey available would have made any difference

- Bush was looking solid before he left with injury, but had still been beat in a foot race a few times

- On that note, I was cringing every time Gil was covering anyone man to man.  He's just too slow sideline to sideline.  Felt like Josh Ross made some nice hits when he came in.

- No memorable impact plays by Rashan, Chase, Uche, or anyone else really.

- A few decent goal line stands (lol)

- Granted they were using tempo, but we looked LOST a bunch of times today

- This game sucked.

Just not good enough. Brown needs to consider more “concede and tackle” mindset just as a change up to his fastball.

Regardless, UM needs more DL explosiveness. This 2019 recruiting class is the solution compared to the 2018 mediocre class. LB is in good shape. Safety is fine. Need a little more CB depth, but close.

At the end of the day, Brown has to do a much better job in the big games. Beat up the 2nd and 3rd tier, but he needs a big game by the D on the road in s big game.

I see a few posts blaming Winovich and Gary. From what I saw, right church, but wrong pew.

I'm starting with the interior of the defensive line. The DT's got absolutely ZERO push. The times where Dwumfour, Paye, Mone, etc found themselves in the backfield were few and far between. They gave absolutely no pressure up the middle on Haskins, and made the job of our DE's damn near impossible.

I hope Harbaugh and Co pour some serious effort into retooling the interior of the line, because I do not see another Hurst/Mike Martin type on this roster now.

pretty fucking historic today.  Most points ever given up to OSU...2nd most points given up in the 140 years of Michigan football...yeah, I’d say today was a incomprehensible disaster.    I still can’t believe what my eyes saw

Complete and utter failure by the DL and linebackers to generate any pressure on Haskins. Honestly wondering what the fuck happened...I know injuries were a nagging problem, but I expected at least some havoc in the backfield today on most downs and what we saw was just NOTHING. I expected some OSU success today, I didn't expect them to make us look like Oklahoma on defense. It was breathtakingly bad...and it's insane that it was even worse than a Durkin-with-one-foot-out-the-door defense.

OSU understood that, with press coverage, you don't have to beat the defensive secondary. You just have to beat one man - and they found him early and often. Feel awful for Watson. He was in over his head today and there was no calvary coming to the rescue.

Michigan's whole defensive "philosophy" is predicated on pressure and Ohio state's QB felt absolutely no pressure today.  Even a 3rd rate QB will look like a world-beater if they have all day in the pocket... so, a probable 1st round draft pick will look like a future Hall of Famer like Haskins did today.  Still can't believe that happened but Michigan's problem started there today and the Dominoes fell accordingly.

And it's not just that he got his ass handed to him, but that Don Brown could be so completely, 100%, no-doubt-about-it wrong in his assessment of what defense(s) would work against Ohio State's offense and athletes.  His resume speaks for itself which is why what happened today is so baffling.

Don Brown needed to circle OSU the day he arrived here and gameplan for them everyday like Urban and his staff do for us.  That's why they were stumbling all year because they were looking at us all year getting ready to do whatever they wanted to us.
