If the fates allow, Stafford…

If the fates allow, Stafford will have a great game but throw a heartbreakingly brainless pick late in the game because (except for one damn year) he’s always been more arm than brain.

This will, of course, not be my heart that breaks. Go Lions. And Wolverines.

Sorry, UM + IU fan here…

Sorry, UM + IU fan here. Life split me up like that…

Cignetti, as someone mentioned, had been working 4am to midnight days to save his team for next fall. He talks about it in detail in the same presser. Is that nuts? Yes, but it’s the reality of coming into a gig where your team is completely falling apart thanks to the portal.

That said he’s been keeping and landing kids left and right, including a 4-star QB Mr. Football recruit he just stole from Duke (Cignetti’s record with QBs is pretty amazing). Along with the MAC QB Conference POY. So hard, sleepy work paying off.

Understandably most everyone here could give AF about IU. But fwiw (perhaps very little), I feel he’s a terrific hire. Asked how he can recruit and save IU he just said, “Google me.” Which is endearing as hell. Overall he appears grumpy but confident AF, with a load of “FU too” in him and that’s everything IU needs. I hope he doesn’t die.

Anyhow, go Blue and god save IU.

Eh, it's the media's job to mine controversy for clicks and future viewers, etc. Michigan just being better is getting to be old news, so they need to drum up some drama at every chance. That said, they are realllly reaching on this one.

He had possession in the end zone, end of true story. Beat Iowa.

Donovan’s per carry average……

Donovan’s per carry average…

Last year: 117 for 872 - 7.5 avg

Now: 74 for 232 - 3.1 avg (barf)

That’s just a wow, epic drop-off, extremely unusual to see. Against a steaming turd of a schedule.

Now that legit national competition finally begins @ Happy Valley, honestly concerned about the run game overall. The whole world will be looking to say… “See? Paper tiger.”

plus we can’t steal their signs anymore :)

Can’t wait though, ‘cause I got seats to that game! Go Blue!

Edwards’ runs into any gap…

Edwards’ runs into any gap and it just sets a down on fire. All year. Like clockwork. A stiff breeze (a sneeze?) knocks him over. Use him in the passing game. Either the holes aren’t there or the player has lost his edge or some combo of things… it’s been ugly stuff.

I feel they’re letting him “get his” carries too much. If Corum and Mullings are better… run them. When Edwards runs into a wall and falls over repeatedly vs. PSU and OSU… clearly stubbornness is calling the plays. And they WILL be tempted to have Edwards torch OSU again… yet we have zero signs of that player this year.

Literally not a single carry over 15 yards… all year… against a pathetic schedule. Totally unexpected and truly baffling. But insanity is doing the same thing over and over… etc.

Man, I thought Caleb Williams was the obvious #1 QB in 2024 draft… but JJ… man, that was legit NFL-ready stuff. Elude the sack, scramble, strike… all smooth and easy-looking. Wow!

PSU. Because I got tix to the @PSU game with my two young kids and want them (and me) to see a monster game. Also, f OSU for all  eternity.

Terrific writing. Just a…

Terrific writing. Just a wonderful read. Certainly not uncommon around here, but sometimes you just have to sit a bit in awe of this site's palpable enthusiasm and informed, insightful (and flat-out funny) takes on its beloved team... through the years, y'all have really made being a UM fan somehow even more rich and rewarding than it already was. Thy butt is kissed. Onward!

Perfect analogy…

Perfect analogy. Corporatization vibes.

You’re simply pushing customers into something they never asked for. Or want. Or need. You just got bigger and somehow more boring.

This opinion is being wildly…

This opinion is being wildly underestimated by those dumping tradition for short-term dollars.

I think it’s bad for the brand of college football. It’s like when Michigan plays say ‘Bama (yes, even ‘Bama) in some regular season matchup… there’s something I just don’t care that much about… but MSU, Wisky, Minnesota, Iowa, obvs OSU… I’m way more emotionally invested in the action and outcome. It’s just more dull Michigan vs. Rutgers or Maryland vibes… but worse. Penn State made sense when they joined… it’s a regional power. Notre Dame… that would made sense.

Michigan vs. Washington? Oregon? UCLA, etc. Eh… not going to travel there for it, personally don’t know anyone from around there, where those players are from, never been there, have no memories to tap into… just not as emotionally invested folks. And that also means $$$. Less of it from me.

Guess he coulda had more yards but they kept running outta field.

Indiana. Trust me, they don…

Indiana. Trust me, they don’t cheat. Just admit it and cut bait, Harbaugh has just proven to be a dud. UM can easily get back on its feet.

JH was just not the savior he was purported to be. Certainly not a QB whisperer or anyone near it. The #1 position has been a ramshackle mess for six years. Don’t overanalyze it. It’s just football.

They’re in a completely…

They’re in a completely different galaxy at this point. Indiana is now closer. And fielding nothing close to UM’s raw talent. Amazing what a coach can do. Or can’t do.

Maybe, but it’s not like it’s a new thing.

At least he doesn’t sound like an apologist right now. But all the “next year” silver lining stuff is pretty weak sauce. It’s year six.

Wisky has a redshirt frosh QB who just went 20/21 with 5 TDs vs. Illinois. Must be nice. Saturday gonna be interesting.

Okay, more details, 10x…

Okay, more details, 10x total in the Harbaugh-era. Five in ‘15 and ‘16. Zero in ‘17 and ‘18. Four last year. And today.

Hope you enjoyed me talking to myself and now you know that 300-yards is a bit of an eyebrow raise. But maybe not quite as high as I’d thought. Maybe. Go Blue.

Couldn’t wait, hit the Google, seems Shea had a few, Wilton and Jake too. Few and far between, but they pop up. Nothing to write home about... I do pine for the days when UM was sorta “QB U” and/or “RB U” or any sort of elite anything. But I’m getting old, don’t mind me.

I can’t ever watch that one again. The tragedy is too much.

Both on my list. If you want…

Both on my list. If you want to be moved and educated about the Vietnam disaster, watch the Ken Burns doc series. The moments in Platoon barely capture the true, sick insanity that went down there. It should be required viewing for every American.

I don’t remember sadness…

I don’t remember sadness from Lost in Translation but found it moving. Poetic. Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind is in the same space.

I find several scenes in Saving Private Ryan almost unbearable to watch.

Magnolia (Tom Cruise is incredible in this)

One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest

Manchester by the Sea (as a father, I can’t ever do this one again)

The Ice Storm

Return of the King - when Sam carries Frodo, wrecked me

Philadelphia

Dancer in the Dark (Bjork is very good, love the music)

The Pianist

Moonlight

Platoon

Into the Wild

The Wrestler

So just throw up our hands …

So just throw up our hands (and tests) because it’s endemic already? I have a mother in a retirement home, I expect the government to do everything within its power to limit the spread. Protect its people. Instead we got a GOP clown wearing a gas mask and the Clown King saying it’ll all be magically gone by April or down to zero from fifteen soon. Endless nonsense meant to prop up short term business interests, nothing more. And I’m an independent.

They should be testing…

They should be testing people like crazy. And they’re not. South Korea is doing this right. Mass testing and quarantine. Instead our fumbling, bumbling leadership is more concerned about short term stock prices and playing the blame game. This thing will be absolutely everywhere soon because of it.

People simply don’t know what to do if they come down with a fever. Period. And in the meantime they spread it.

IU has landed a number of…

IU has landed a number of five-stars through the years. Yogi Ferrell, Cody Zeller, James Blackmon, Thomas Bryant, Noah Vonleh, Romeo Langford... I mean, if crazy Crean can lure them to IU, I'd assume Archie would have a shot. Not surprising at all. It's still considered an elite, albeit dusty, program.

Langford played with a…

Langford played with a busted hand that needed surgery all year. And he didn't suck at IU. But I do think he was a bit overrated to begin with.

It scares me. I have two…

It scares me. I have two little kids.

The last paragraph of that…

The last paragraph of that book (a quick read overall) soars off the page because it stands-out from the story itself. The author suddenly talks directly to the reader about what appears to be a true story, one apart from the apocalyptic tale. Fiction or not (I think the ambiguity was the point), it was the most powerful statement on mankind’s relationship to the environment that I’ve ever read. It struck the deepest of chords. Just shattered me. I sat in awe. Teary-eyed.
