thanks to Purdue...
Don’t look now but Michigan sits atop the B1G and the B1G East. Will also be in the top 4 at the end of next week at the latest...probably (Alabama vs LSU). It just feels different this year, less like we’re just hanging on and more like we’re in the driver’s seat.
October 20th, 2018 at 11:35 PM ^
Whoops, I thought LSU played Bama next weekend. That’s my fault.
October 20th, 2018 at 11:42 PM ^
Alabama will win out and deliver all SEC teams below them to the 2 loss club. Michigan wins out, they're playoff bound. If you had bet me after Labor Day that Michigan would be in the position today you'd have my house..
October 20th, 2018 at 11:36 PM ^
Hopefully, Jeff Brohm gets hired away leading to Karlaftis decommitting
October 20th, 2018 at 11:46 PM ^
Zach Harrison will have committed by then.
October 20th, 2018 at 11:50 PM ^
All going to depend on if Louisville can figure a way out of Petrino's contract. I think his buyout and their financial situation don't exactly mesh right now.
October 21st, 2018 at 12:21 AM ^
I’m still salty he left WKU. Here’s how WKU lost tonight: at the end of regulation ODU gets called for roughing the passer. On the untimed down WKU goes for the field goal, the kick is short and returned to the WKU side of the field...WKU gets called for unnecessary roughness so ODU gets an untimed down. Kicks the field goal and wins...
October 21st, 2018 at 7:47 AM ^
It sounds like he never left. Stupid personal foul calls near the end cost Purdue their first two games this season.
October 21st, 2018 at 1:15 AM ^
Probably, but there's a chance things have been so embarrassing for them lately the boosters will spend above their pay grade to change the narrative to the Brohm show.
October 21st, 2018 at 10:44 AM ^
Mantis, do you see him biting on other offers in the inevitable major program firings that will happen? Or is it Louisville or stay at Purdue in your opinion?
October 20th, 2018 at 11:37 PM ^
Michigan wins
MSU loses
OSU loses
ND . . . didn't get a win
Nice day.
October 20th, 2018 at 11:50 PM ^
Too bad PSU pulled it out.
October 20th, 2018 at 11:55 PM ^
NEVER type PSU and "pulled it out" in the same sentence!
Please tip your waitstaff...
October 20th, 2018 at 11:58 PM ^
....ok how about ped state stuck it to them.
BTW, FUCK ped state and all their delusional joepa loving fans and all the paternos!!!
October 21st, 2018 at 12:19 AM ^
Stop sugar coating. Tell us what you really think.
October 21st, 2018 at 12:33 AM ^
Was it the fat Joepa offspring or the stupid Joepa offspring that was throwing shade on A2 last week? Maybe it was the fat stupid one. It's hard to keep those asshats straight.
October 21st, 2018 at 12:49 AM ^
they’re both stupid, but it was the fatter of the stupid paterno sons
October 20th, 2018 at 11:40 PM ^
Class of the B1G, folks. Kind of feels like king of the the trash heap sometimes, but enjoy it.
October 20th, 2018 at 11:41 PM ^
What a game by Purdue!! Lol.
Total domination!!
FUCK OHIO!
October 21st, 2018 at 3:58 AM ^
Was just reading through the stats. Haskins completed 49 of 73 attempts for 470 yards and 2 touchdowns. That's more completions than most QB's attempts in any given game, and nearly half of the attempts that Patterson has attempted all season. In one game. And they still lost.
I think it's safe to say that even Ohio is saying "FUCK OHIO!" after that result.
October 20th, 2018 at 11:41 PM ^
And great to Purdue for winning for that kid with cancer. And Fuck cancer too. Damn. I teared up a bit for the kid.
In conclusion:
Congrats Purdue
Fuck State
Fuck OSU and
Fuck Cancer
Go Blue
October 21st, 2018 at 12:11 AM ^
Agreed entirely, that caught me completely offguard. Seems like a helluva nice kid, too. Glad he got to predict and witness the all-time biggest upset in Purdue history
October 21st, 2018 at 12:11 AM ^
you forgot to "fuck cancer" in your conclusion. Other than that. Spot on.
October 21st, 2018 at 12:41 AM ^
Fuck urban

ND will be 4 ahead of us...
October 20th, 2018 at 11:46 PM ^
ND will be 3 because OSU will drop and M will probably move into the top 4 in their place.
October 20th, 2018 at 11:47 PM ^
We'll be #5 until either we lose or LSU/Bama does.
But we can win out. And if we win out we will be a one-loss B1G champion, and that is a playoff bid.
October 20th, 2018 at 11:48 PM ^
Way too early question but....
Say ND and us both win out. Would they get into the playoffs over us?
On one hand, they beat us head to head and went undefeated.
On the other, we lost in the season opener on the road competitively. We had a tougher schedule. We would have won an extra game (conference championship).
Who would get the nod?
October 20th, 2018 at 11:52 PM ^
Wrong take. If ND wins out and Michigan wins the big undefeated (in conference) we both go to the CFP.
October 20th, 2018 at 11:52 PM ^
We would both get in, guaranteed. SEC champ, ND, us, Clemson. If we win out, we're getting in over every one loss conference champ because we have the best loss in the country, and I believe every P5 team outside of Bama has one loss, so we are completely in the driver's seat, with full control of our destiny
October 20th, 2018 at 11:52 PM ^
Yes, but it almost certainly won't matter. If Michigan and Notre Dame both win out, the playoffs will be SEC Champ, undefeated Clemson or 1-loss Big XII champ, Notre Dame, and Michigan.
The only fly in the ointment would be an LSU victory over Alabama, followed by LSU or Georgia running the table. Then, you might get two SEC teams, in which case Michigan is probably on the outside looking in. But these things have a way of working themselves out.
October 20th, 2018 at 11:57 PM ^
I’m not sure Bama can get in with a loss. They would finish the year with likely one win over a ranked team.
October 21st, 2018 at 12:04 AM ^
You may be right, but they've got the name and conference recognition. The fact that they played nobody out of conference -- as usual -- and the SEC West is down won't matter. Don't get me wrong: Alabama is an excellent team. But they've also got the SEC factor going for them: when Big Ten teams beat each other up, it's because the Big Ten is mediocre, but when SEC teams do it, it's because the SEC is, top-to-bottom, the best conference in America.
October 20th, 2018 at 11:54 PM ^
We would both be in. Undefeated ND gets in, period. Michigan, with one loss against a playoff team, gets in over one-loss Oklahoma or any other Big 12 or Pac 12 team.
In that scenario we're the four seed and play Bama, FWIW.
There's still a narrow scenario where there are two good SEC candidates; if LSU beats Bama and wins out, and Bama wins out, Bama is a good candidate and so is a winner of a hypothetic LSU-Georgia SEC championship game. In that scenario I'm a bit nervous. But Georgia's loss to LSU means that the window for 2 SEC teams is pretty small. And it's small to begin with.
Notre Dame is going to be ahead of us by virtue of head-to-head in almost all scenarios. But our loss to them looks really good right now.
October 21st, 2018 at 12:47 AM ^
I think ND drops a game. Either FSU or USC
October 21st, 2018 at 12:56 AM ^
They could, but FSU and USC are both terrible.
And even if they do, that H2H factor is hard for Michigan to overcome. Also, if we're getting to the end of the season and ND and Michigan both have one loss and they're also looking at teams like Oklahoma with one loss, ND has the best win--us.
The team that would really suffer with a loss would be Clemson, which has a dreadful schedule in conference.
October 21st, 2018 at 12:58 AM ^
I agree. BTW Clay Helton is 19-0 at home. And USC teams usually improve by the end of the year.
Also, don't forget -- ND has to go to Evanston. Always a weird place to play.
October 20th, 2018 at 11:44 PM ^
With all the great athletes Ohio State has on defense, they have played like crap for the last several weeks. Recruits take notice, bad coaching in Columbus. Especially defensive recruits.
October 20th, 2018 at 11:50 PM ^
This is a trend. They don't do nearly as much as they should with the defensive talent they recruit. It's not just this year.
October 21st, 2018 at 12:06 AM ^
They lost their DB coach, Kerry Coombs, to the NFL when Mike Vrabel hired him to coach his DBs. Coombs is a bigger loss because he has developed NFL DBs like Lattimore, Ward, Conley, Hooker, Bell, etc.
I remain unimpressed with their LB coach who has been bad. The only good coaches on the defensive side is the DL coach, Larry Johnson. Larry Johnson is a great DL coach who can identify and develop NFL talent.
October 20th, 2018 at 11:54 PM ^
Urban is a great recruiter and a mediocre to decent coach. He’s also poison to a program.
October 21st, 2018 at 12:19 AM ^
A mediocre to decent coach don't win multiple national championships.
October 21st, 2018 at 12:24 AM ^
They do when their teams are substantially more talented and they’re uh... unencumbered by propriety or player discipline.
Do you think Mork loses that game with those stud athletes? I don’t.
October 20th, 2018 at 11:44 PM ^
OSU should've studied that EMU tape vs Purdue...
October 20th, 2018 at 11:45 PM ^
Start finishing more drives or throwing more 80-yard bombs and the sky's the limit.
October 20th, 2018 at 11:46 PM ^
Our schedule looked like an insurmountable gauntlet. And, indeed, we did lose our first game to a top four team.
But the team is improving every week. And the rest of the Big Ten is disintegrating under pressure.
We are the best team in the conference. We are the favorites. We have pole position to win the B1G and go to the playoff.
And we can beat OSU. We should be OSU. We must beat OSU.
They'll be a much better team when we play them.
But so will we.
October 20th, 2018 at 11:46 PM ^
Choo choo bitches! Osu loses to msu or we beat osu and we hve a clear path to the BIG even if we blow a game. Trying to temper my hopes.
October 21st, 2018 at 12:04 AM ^
F "blowing a game". Not going there. This team has a fire lit under their asses. Tarik and Rashan are coming back. Rock solid, baby. 12-1 and playoff bound.
October 20th, 2018 at 11:46 PM ^
Michigan is the best team in the conference.
OSU's run game has disappeared....the defense has fallen apart...it will take quite an effort from the Buckeyes to upset the Wolverines on Nov. 24.
Congrats on winning the B1G East Division! Buy your tickets to Indy now.
October 20th, 2018 at 11:50 PM ^
Dont you dare put that evil on us BuckeyeChucky.
October 21st, 2018 at 12:03 AM ^
We’ll see. OSU loses a “wtf” game pretty regularly, yet remains elite.
