OL might be better than we thought?
September 22nd, 2018 at 3:46 PM ^
I think we are getting better on O-Line. Also, Nebraska is bad at defense.
September 22nd, 2018 at 3:50 PM ^
They did have 10 sacks in 2 games coming in, and had a top ranked Rush D....
September 22nd, 2018 at 4:02 PM ^
Against Colorado and Troy.
I'd say inconclusive.
September 22nd, 2018 at 4:24 PM ^
But the OLine looked good today, and NU cant be worse than SMU and WMU
September 22nd, 2018 at 5:12 PM ^
Oh hell yeah they’re worse.
September 22nd, 2018 at 7:01 PM ^
Bredeson seems to be able to pull and hit that collapsing defender pretty well.
September 22nd, 2018 at 3:52 PM ^
Are they? I'm genuinely asking. Are we actually better on the offensive line or is our competition that much worse?
September 22nd, 2018 at 4:13 PM ^
Better than last year without a doubt...UM struggled against some tomato cans last year.
But that shouldn't be surprising given the staff shake up and the low bar set last year. The question is will the Oline be good enough to stand up against the better teams in the conference and that will only be answered when the competition stiffens.
September 22nd, 2018 at 3:38 PM ^
Remember that Peters might still be hobbling. That doesn't mean that I think he's better than McCaffrey. Just that he gets an incomplete this far.
Also, we have a LOT of RBs who can make plays! Hooray!
September 22nd, 2018 at 5:36 PM ^
hobbling bc he was obviously cramping /s
September 22nd, 2018 at 3:38 PM ^
RBs appear to be legitimately five deep. Same at WR. Who had money on Ronnie Bell catching a TD this year?
September 22nd, 2018 at 3:53 PM ^
The much-maligned Jay Harbaugh and Jim McElwain do, in fact, seem to be doing a solid job to date.
September 22nd, 2018 at 4:06 PM ^
Yeah and wait until Tarik comes back.
September 22nd, 2018 at 4:20 PM ^
I can't doubt much about Ronnie Bell after watching his senior year highlight tape
September 22nd, 2018 at 3:39 PM ^
Wow. Higdon really set the tone with those early runs, but the OL pushed Nebraska around all game. Did not see that coming. Nebraska must be pretty awful. Guess those guys in Vegas know something.
September 22nd, 2018 at 4:25 PM ^
Nebraska front sever better than SMU and WMU... so yes, there has been progress. Still a ways to go, but there has been improvement each week. Fewer mental errors...
September 23rd, 2018 at 1:08 AM ^
The problem is that it's too early in the season to know if our OL is actually improving or if Nebraska is legitimately bad at defense. My gut tell me that it's a little bit of both but we won't know until we play a team with a proven front seven.
September 23rd, 2018 at 8:27 AM ^
This o line should gain all the confidence after that first half. They were destroying the NE front 7. The 2nd team was smashing them too. Christian Turner looked legit.
September 22nd, 2018 at 3:39 PM ^
What fools called for Pep Hamilton's Head! Come here and eat your humble pie!!!
September 22nd, 2018 at 3:50 PM ^
I have my doubts and will eat humble pie when he beats OSU two years in a row.
September 22nd, 2018 at 4:17 PM ^
"He's" not going to do anything. This is a team sport.
September 22nd, 2018 at 5:24 PM ^
Not according to Mike D'antoni.
September 23rd, 2018 at 7:13 AM ^
Kork Coupons would beg to differ.
September 22nd, 2018 at 5:29 PM ^
Let's start with 1 year.
September 22nd, 2018 at 3:40 PM ^
I am OK with a strategy where we get to the 2 or 3 and then let Ben Mason destroy people on the way into the end zone. That looked pretty.
September 22nd, 2018 at 3:48 PM ^
Good God when he gets a full head of steam, he just destroys people. There was a play in the first quarter where he had a clean run out to the right of the line in the red zone and he destroyed the first blocker then moved a pile another 3 yards by himself.
September 22nd, 2018 at 3:50 PM ^
It's a highly effective strategy. Also, it must just be demoralizing to have this face just rocking you backward on the way to the endzone.
September 23rd, 2018 at 5:03 PM ^
You're gonna be sleepin' with the fishes on your back in the endzone
September 23rd, 2018 at 8:44 AM ^
I was in row 50 yelling "Give it to Ben Mason!" Glad they listened.
September 22nd, 2018 at 3:40 PM ^
Offense started hot and they kept the pressure up during the first half.
OL was caving Nebraska's DL. Pass protection looked pretty solid.
Patterson and McCaffrey both looked good.
Nice to have Higdon back.
No complaints from me. Great win!
September 22nd, 2018 at 3:41 PM ^
Peters is 3rd string
September 22nd, 2018 at 10:45 PM ^
Not saying you are, but I don’t like it when fans celebrate when a player falling. We needed our third string QB last year. I hope Peters gets healthy and pushes for second string. More QBs do well the more great QBs we’ll get.
September 23rd, 2018 at 9:54 AM ^
No one is celebrating Peters being in effective, so many red herrng arguments about this. He is just getting passed on the depth chart. Recognizing reality that Peters is not developing is not saying Peters is a bad person. Be a fricking grownup, this isnt 3rd grade flag football here.
September 22nd, 2018 at 3:41 PM ^
I found the officiating to be an offense today. wrong thread I know but it has to be said somewhere.
I'm not ready to say the line and its issues are fixed yet, but I feel like there has been improvement. Seems to be plenty of guys to lean on going forward, especially at RB and even the QB position feels like it is in good shape. I think we would all like to have that depth on the line as well.
Nothing felt really bad today though, playcalling was fine, execution was mostly fine. it was a good day
September 22nd, 2018 at 3:54 PM ^
We need a snowflake thread for the refs this year...
September 22nd, 2018 at 4:07 PM ^
Yes please!
September 22nd, 2018 at 9:04 PM ^
It’s not our fault the refs are complete horse shit.
Either call crap both ways or don’t call it at all.
September 23rd, 2018 at 8:48 AM ^
It was a blow-out and we're still mad about the officiating....
September 22nd, 2018 at 3:41 PM ^
Mason looks like a much better and more natural runner than either Hill or Poggi. Dude really runs hard.
September 22nd, 2018 at 3:47 PM ^
Runs more like Sione
September 22nd, 2018 at 4:45 PM ^
Dare I say, he runs like Owen Marecic. Ol’ Jimmy got himself a fullback.
September 22nd, 2018 at 5:24 PM ^
I was thinking today he was like Mike Alstott
September 22nd, 2018 at 3:47 PM ^
Mason was a beast. The FB TDs are wonderful smashmouth football. We're going to run it down your throat. Try and stop us. I dare you.
September 22nd, 2018 at 3:48 PM ^
That might be because Hill and Poggi never played fullback until they were juniors in college, maybe not tho
September 22nd, 2018 at 3:41 PM ^
Did anyone see anything resembling the pistol offense or more of the offense installed?
September 22nd, 2018 at 3:42 PM ^
No, but I wasn’t looking for it. Maybe Michigan didn’t need to show it today.
September 22nd, 2018 at 3:55 PM ^
Was the unbalanced 2 TEs to one side of the line stuff new? Seemed to fool NEB, and I don’t remember much if anything it previously.
September 22nd, 2018 at 4:03 PM ^
Yeah there were definitely pistol looks mostly with balanced 2 TE and 2 Wr sets. Believe I saw a formation with an Hback too.
