OSU's Carlos Hyde to be kicked off team?
This a follow up to the post below, but I felt this deserved its own thread.
There are a lot of reports breaking that OSU has set up a meeting for tomorrow where it will be announced that Carlos Hyde has been kicked off the team. The reports from earlier gained more traction and a case record for the incident has been reported online.
This report is all over twitter, where the incident number and link were posted. This is also gaining traction on rivals as well.
This is unfortunate for all parties involed, the victim and Carlos himself. It's ashamed to see a kid ruin his career. It appears the dismissal is coming very quickly, and it's really probably the only choice Meyer had considering the media blitz he had faced recently.

It appears Carlos Hyde has a 7am meeting with Coach Meyer in the morning. I don't like the sound of this.
-
Carlos Hyde allegedly kicked off the team after a weekend incident. He punched some chick in the face.
-
I wish I could say I was surprised that Carlos Hyde punched a girl
-
Carlos Hyde apparently kicked off Ohio States Football Team. HUGE blow if that's true.

If the Carlos Hyde rumor is true the focus should be on the victim & a young man who's hurt his future & not the effect on the football team

Carlos Hyde?? Ohio State?? I don't care who the "f" you are. Hit a girl and you should be put in a cell with a lot of lonely, male, inmates.

Wait wait wait. Carlos Hyde dismissed from Ohio State? I don't believe it.
-
Real? "Per a university official--there will be a team meeting at 7:00 AM tomorrow morning. Carlos Hyde has been dismissed from the team."
-
@FreshPorkChops I guess Carlos Hyde gave some chick the Chris Brown treatment....That's what twitter is saying

Carlos Hyde loves being a Buckeye. Loves everything about what he had going for him right now. If it's true, it's obviously a huge mistake.

Well, if so you can't say OSU didn't do the right thing.
But I won't.
12:35am and the search for the incident report "times out" because of volume.
For what it's worth, the nightclub involved is (or was) 4 Kegs. I used to be pretty cool with the owner/operator Jerome. I haven't talked to him in a while, and I'm not sure if he is still there. It doesn't shed much light on the situation, but bros must tell cool stories.
Also, fwiw, the guy who originally broke this story is saying that this report is not the Hyde situation.
There's not a school in the country where you wouldn't be kicked off the team for this (except some SEC schools). That said, I'd like to see both sides of the story. Good news for OSU fans is that they're loaded at RB.
To be honestly I wouldn't of suspended Rainey at all. If I was suspended in basketball everytime i thretened to kill someone I would have missed a good chunk of the season.
"If I was suspended in basketball everytime i thretened to kill someone I would have missed a good chunk of the season. "
You, sir, have some issues you might want to work out. What normal person runs around threatening to kill people on (from how you describe it) a fairly frequent basis? I don't mean to be judgemental, but you're trying to pass that on as a normal thing and I can assure you, it isn't.
Not to mention, threatening to kill a player on another team during a basketball game will probably be interpreted differently than when you, say, threaten to kill your girlfriend.
Hell, I would suspend you for thinking "of" is a verb.
If I could of punched you in the face this comment, I will.
I know it was a long time and several head coaches ago, but Nebraska kept Lawrence Phillips around after he brutally assaulted his girlfriend.
True, but he was still suspended for 6 games and never started again, so it wasn't like Lawrence Phillips got 100% off.
Are you sure he never started again? I thought Osborne let him start in the national championship game against Florida. I just did a quick Google search and there are a number of articles about that situation which seem to confirm it.
Either way, he did return from the suspension and play quite a bit of football for that Nebraska team (which probably didn't even really need him, what with Ahman Green and other talented backs on the roster that season). And Phillips didn't just throw one punch. He dragged his ex-girlfriend down stairs by her hair, and then smashed her head into a metal locker.
And by "good news for OSU fans" you mean "good news for us." I don't understand people who truly try to hide their fandom; just openly troll and it's easier for everyone.
1) The girl that he punched is the daughter of a cop
2) A freshman is also involved.
I have no personal insight on the veracity, just relaying what I've read elsewhere.
At UF they only bark at cops dogs now........At Ohio they still punch cops daughters.
Carlos Hyde is off the team?
I wish OP would have included more tweets so we could be sure.
A thousand karma points to the person skilled enough to photoshop carlos hyde's helmet onto this gif, so I can use it to freely troll OSU sites across the internet
But guys... think about the ratings!
Seriously though our society has become pretty complacent about this sort of thing. MTV, Chris Brown/Rihanna, Chad Johnson, etc. etc. It's sad really.
That guy must not have a mother. What an animal.
an assault of a woman is never right, even in self defense. It's one thing to stop a woman attacking you, another to assault her as well. Most men can over power a woman without hurting them, whether it is simply getting behind them and holding them or whatever the case might be.
I had a girl friend back in Univeristy and we enjoyed a pretty intense relationship. Those relationships are great when things are going good, but when they aren't they can be a nightmare. I remember many a night coming home from the club and getting into an argument and before long her fist would start flying. Even drunk, it was easy to avoid her punches and get close enough to grab her arms until she calmed down. Even when the punches would connect, they weren't anything serious.
One time I walked away during a fight we were having outside a nightclub and she chased me down and hammered me in the shoulder. The funny things was that punch to the shoulder hurt more than any punch she had even hit me in the face with. I thought I must have had a pimple on my should that she hit just right or something so I turned to look and found her keys embedded in my shoulder.
That was the worst I ever received from a woman and even in that instance, the furthest thing from my mind was hitting her back, you just don't do that. I yanked the keys out, through them on the ground and left, never to speak to the crazy woman again.
I don't tell this story to toot my own horn, but to emphasize that it doesn't matter the circumstance, you don't hit women. I also don't think I am the exception either, as I'm pretty confident most men would do the same in those situations. They're women, there's no excuse.
You could've just said that you were a sexist pacifist. I'm not quite sure that "the worst thing that a woman ever did to me is stab me" defends your stance that they can't really damage you. If that's your standard, then you would have no ethical grounds ever for hitting 99% of the guys who go to Michigan either.
I appreciate the vote for not hitting women. Your reasoning, however, seems a bit dated and overbroad. For example, I once dated a woman, and we had a relatively "intense," if short relationship. She did not ever throw a punch at me, for which I'm greateful. She weighed 122 lbs at the time. I know this because her weight was publicized. She also happened to be the Junior Featherweight boxing champion. I have seen her pummel men my size, who fight for a living, into bloody heaps. I have no doubt that she could give a good challenge to any member of the OSU football team given enough room to jab and move.
How about we go with this: punching people is generally bad. Self-defense is sometimes a justifiable reason. We all have significant doubts that the alleged perpetrator in this case was needing to elbow a woman in the face in self-defense. If the alleged victim turns out to be Laila Ali, however, we'll revisit the question.
I can admit when I make mistakes, and this in one of those times. I guess in my response I was not thinking broadly enough. I have never encountered a woman like the one you defined in your post, so my post wasn't really meant to be sexist, but based on the wommen I have met in my life, forgetting there is a whole heck of a lot of women that I haven't. I take your point and agree with it, though as you say, it probably isn't what transpired in the case in question.
OHHHHHHH CYA!
The whole Aaron Hernandez situation has defintely put a brighter light on him. WIll be interested to see if the national media picks up on this story.
That all being said, Hyde deserves to get his ass booted off the team if this is true. Whether you're a big time football player or an average nobody, you don't lay your hands on a woman unless she's threatening your life. That's about as low as it gets.
I will not miss him in the slightest.
But I bet he loved the direction of the program when they were cheating under Tressel...
Tressel crossed a line that Meyer would not have, I think.
It's one thing to ignore your players' actions off the field, and to only react when they are forced to your attention. That's Meyer, and it appears to be the pattern in this case.
Tressel, on the other hand, cheated, plain and simple. He put key players on the field he knew were not eligible, and lied about it.
...that Tressel crossed a line that Meyer would not have, but I think Meyer would just go about bending the line. That's the M.O. I see him employing. Who is to say which is worse?
