Michigan-ND Score Prediction Thread
What's your prediction for the score this weekend?
I think ND's woeful lack of experience in the secondary, combined with their struggles defending runs to the outside is a nightmare matchup against Denard. I haven' t been terribly impressed by ND's offense either. Golson looks fine rolling out, but while he has the arm strength to make any downfield throw, the accuracy is seemingly lacking.
My prediction: 35-17, Michigan.
Brian Kelly's goes all:
in the 4th quarter.

Maybe the coaches think covering the spread would be a moral victory.

Thanks for the literality. Yes, literality.

ND scores and converts 2PC. So, they're up 8. How would it be possible that Michigan then kicks a FG?
September 21st, 2012 at 4:11 PM ^
The coaches will just use the Mathlete's expected points chart and see if going for the field goal yields more expected points than going for the first down. No reason to waste an opportunity to score.

Meaning you took his explanation literally, and I think it was meant to be tongue in cheek. Hard to pick stuff like that up when you are staring at text though...

I'd rather not

35-13 Michigan.
Enough of these "classic" nail-biters. Let's roll over them this year.

Michigan 31, ND 30
This time ND breaks it's own heart scoring a TD as time expires, only to miss the PAT to send it to OT.
September 21st, 2012 at 2:36 PM ^
but I will estimate Wolverines 37, irish 30. Believe we will see Denard hitting slants, outs and mid-range posts, while running game is adequate. Believe Denard will generally have no more than 3-4 seconds to pass, or run, before the pocket collapses around him. Believe Golson is going to see blitz-de-jour and get pounded quite a few times; hopefully with a classic Kovacs rib splitter for the highlight reel. Go Blue!

I expect ND to win one of these games sometime, and this year feels like their time. So probably 31-27 ND. But given what we've seen the past couple of years (and the fact that UM is 0-4 against MSU (!!) we are clearly living in an alternate reality), I'm calling it 33-30 with a last-second TD by Roy Roundtree.

The Irish score too soon giving Michigan time to work down the field giving them the winning drive once again. We have Denard.

is the good guys win and the ND faithful lose their minds......in a bad way.
Take Michigan and the points
September 21st, 2012 at 3:33 PM ^
Michigan pulls out another close one and Denard goes for 531 yards of total offense giving him 1500 yards against the Irish in his career.

Head: ND 35, Mich 17
Heart: We beat the living s**t out of them and Denard goes around 550 in total O, sticking yet another dagger in their hearts.

rain tonight and 50% chance all day tomorrow. This could help UM if the game turns to more of a ground game than passing, less opportunity for Denard to launch space junk. UM d-line has to stay contained, stuff the holes, and protect the UM secondary.

Unlike Flo Rida, I don't have a good feeling. ND: 31, Mich: 21
September 21st, 2012 at 5:38 PM ^
But Denard will be held to 200 points
September 21st, 2012 at 5:48 PM ^
It's at ND at night, which I think is big for them. I also just don't trust Michigan's defense. And on a final, totally irrational note: surely the football gods will not allow Michigan to win a fourth straight game after beating ND in the last seconds three straight years. I realize that there are no football gods, but I still don't think they'll let Michigan win even if the Wolverines play well.

lose by at least 10. If Denard and and the Oline play well and he is on with his reads and accuracy, UM wins large.
Good Denard: UM 44, ND 17 I see him getting time and good throwing lanes!!!
Bad Denard: ND 31, UM 20
