I sat next to Irvin and his dad at a home game against Penn State while they were visiting Michigan in January of 2011. His dad grilled me on my experience at Michigan and I gave nothing but glowing reviews (obviously) of the combination of academics and athletics. It also could have been a build up of a lot of little things. I understand his frustration. I like his competitiveness, but I hope in the future that he can channel that positively between the whistles. |

Brian why are you still so bitter and negative about Hoke?
If he "gets" anything it's that he's a former defensive lineman with a narrowly defined set of assets that does not include being a genius of any variety—he's never been a coordinator. So he's hired two guys with very long, very successful resumes to do that stuff for him.
You obviously don't understand football from the inside. It's not about being a genius. It is about motivating young people to do things that they didn't think they could do before. It is about teaching them to love each other, to play for each other and to win for each other. This team will win games based on scheme, but they will win championships once they become a team. Hoke understands this. That is why he is the coach of the Michigan football team. Get over it. |

I don't think you should worry so much. He still has the mindset of scoring 80 pts a game in the Big East, but we don't need to score that much to win. He realizes that they just have to play good defense and let the offense flow from there. Plus it is year 4. |

Alright I can finally say something now that I am a former manager, but Cox did not play because he did miss lots of assignments. Michigan4Life has heard correctly. He does have the most physical gifts out of any one of the rbs, but has lacked the mental side of things. Magnus probably knows the most of any one of the posters on this site, probably because he has insider info. However, he does not know everything. I hope Cox can find a way to thrive in the new system, but if he continues to go left instead of right he will never play. Thanks for listening. |
