Give me Marcus Carr and a return from Eli Brooks.

A guy can dream, right?

Frustrating to have the year…

Frustrating to have the year end against what remains, in my opinion, a thoroughly beatable UCLA squad. Not going to get an easier elite 8 opponent than that. Picked a bad game for everyone across the board to lay an egg, and yet despite that they could have come up with a W if they just hit free throws and/or made a couple layups. Wish Chaundee Brown had gotten a few more shots up as he’s about the only player that’s been able to hit a jumper the last two games. REALLY missed Livers’ jump shooting ability.

It was a heck of a year and I can’t wait for next season. It will be sad to see many of these players go.

KEEP CHAUNDEE IN THE GAME…

KEEP CHAUNDEE IN THE GAME WHAT ARE YOU DOING

His career arc has been…

His career arc has been incredible. Love it.

For all the (deserved) flak…

For all the (deserved) flak that Will Wade has received, I was really impressed with him walking down the Michigan bench congratulating each coach as time expired.

Yikes!

The hope is this is…

Yikes!

The hope is this is just “one of those games”.

The fear is that it is exposing what happens when Michigan doesn’t have an advantage down low. This team does not have a lot of players who can create with the ball. They have been very dependent on Dickinson dominating under the hoop, and then when teams double that, excelling at ball movement to exploit the double. With that taken away and players needing to create off the dribble, things look entirely different.

Hopefully just a bad night!

As Kevin Malone would say,…

As Kevin Malone would say, my question is... it seems dumb.

Is this an appropriate place…

Is this an appropriate place to complain about the rule where a fumble at the one inch line that goes through the end zone is a ruled a touchback? There has to be a better way. Completely changed this game.

The one pseudo “insider”…

The one pseudo “insider” that I know has maintained for weeks that Day would jump to the NFL after this year. Seems like wishful thinking to me, but a guy can hope.

Let’s be real - whichever…

Let’s be real - whichever one Michigan accomplishes is the one we treat as better!

As a Denver Broncos fan, I…

As a Denver Broncos fan, I have been hoping Stafford gets dealt to Denver. There have been rumors there, too.

If you’re the Lions, would the #9 pick plus a second or third rounder be enough for you to rip the bandaid off and trade him?

I am about the furthest…

I am about the furthest thing from an “insider”. However, I do happen to have one mutual friend with Jim Harbaugh and I have been told multiple times that Michigan’s academics are a limiting factor for the football program. To hear him tell it, there is a whole group of recruits that other football factories are getting that Michigan simply does not have the same access to because they won’t make it at Michigan.

I had always been somewhat skeptical of that line of thinking—I’m well aware that top athletes often get the school’s “easy route” academically—but apparently that “easy route”  still does not compare to SEC/OSU/etc.

I don’t think there’s any…

I don’t think there’s any doubt that Dickinson’s “below the rim” traditional big man style is a better fit for college where he has a size advantage over his opponents.

That said, if he continues on this path, how much can he realistically improve on that would substantially change his draft status? His play has been outstanding and he’s already flashing a nice jumper. From my view the main thing holding him back from a better NBA grade is athletic limitations, and that is not going to be fixed by another year or two in college. So if he’s already old for his class, and he knows he wants to go pro prior to graduating, then why not leave after one year rather than 2-3? That is my fear.

I sure hope he sticks around, because he is a joy to watch and changes the entire complexion of the offense. I hope that a pitch of being “the guy” next year is enough to keep him, because the outlook for next year changes drastically if he leaves.

Agreed. I obviously hope he…

Agreed. I obviously hope he stays, but there is a certain amount of redundancy between him, Giles Jackson, and AJ Henning. Even Roman Wilson could play a similar role if needed, though current roster construction likely pushes him more outside.

No vasectomy here, but I did…

No vasectomy here, but I did have varicocele surgery down there.

Thank God they fully put me under for that one.

Still weird staring up into the attractive nurse’s eyes from the operating table, knowing they’re about to slice into you as soon as you’re unconscious.

538 has an interesting…

538 has an interesting article about this. Those planning to vote in-person on Election Day are  disproportionally Trump supporters. Those planning to vote by mail are disproportionally supporting Biden. If it takes several days (or weeks) for mail-ins to be counted, you could very easily see a scenario where early election-day results skew inaccurately in Trump’s favor, only to be counteracted in coming days by mail-ins that favor Biden. Given current rhetoric, this would pretty clearly create a situation that is... not good.

On topic- if the Big Ten plays after all, I’m curious of that has any impact on the NCAA’s decision to freeze eligibility?

I think your friend is out…

I think your friend is out of luck. The most liability insurance will likely pay is the actual cash value of the damaged asset. The claimant being underwater on their loan won’t change that.

Edit- Griese beat me to it, and more eloquently. What he said.

Hard to glean too much from…

Hard to glean too much from videos like this, but man does AJ Henning look FAST.

All good thoughts, though…

All good thoughts, though unfortunately I already learned the sunscreen reminder the hard way. An hour and a half in the woods in April was enough to give him rosy cheeks (sorry buddy).

In order to avoid any potential backcast issues, I decided to use the centerpin and float fish. That way I could make certain to keep my casts under control and eliminate the risk of flying hooks/user error.

Wading the rivers for salmon…

Wading the rivers for salmon and steelhead is my passion. I like to fly fish for steelhead, and toss hardware for the early season kings. Lately I have been getting more into centerpin fishing which has been a lot of fun too. I don't have any angler friends, so unless I'm with my father I typically just go out by myself and enjoy the solitude.

Come summertime, I fish for bass and walleye at my cottage. I also have a trout pond there that we keep full of rainbows, browns, and brookies. That makes for a fun hobby.

I have a one year old at home now and another on the way, so my available fishing time has shrunk substantially. I just recently bought a child carrier and took him out on the river in the backpack for the first time. Hopefully it will be the first of many trips.

Would he be an option at…

Would he be an option at Center? Given the current roster construction if Todd comes, that would seem to be the only way to get all these guys on the court.

I love that river but I don…

I love that river but I don’t fish it any more unless I’m in a drift boat. I lose some enjoyment when I’m competing with so many other anglers for spots. I think I’ll get out the centerpin and target some of the other worse-but-less-pressured waters that West MI has to offer.

I took their color blindness…

I took their color blindness test online but it said my eyes may be too broken for their glasses to fix. Would be very curious to give it a try!

Bought myself some new Orvis…

Bought myself some new Orvis fishing waders, as my present from from my wife.

When you have a joint bank account, gift giving between spouses loses some of its allure to me. “Look what I bought you, with your own money!”

I like our pragmatic approach - pick out exactly what you want and call it your present.

Merry Christmas!

Go pro. He’ll still be a first round pick. Collect your guaranteed money and spend a year learning your new team’s system.

Re-watching the game and had…

Re-watching the game and had a thought regarding the wildcat package the team used at the goal line. We’ve seen this set used multiple times on other games, too, with limited success. Is there a world where it makes sense to run any wildcat sets using Michael Barrett? He was a successful high school QB who I had expected to stick at RB until he found a home on defense. I would be a little more intrigued with the package if there was any threat of pass whatsoever.

This would be a huge pickup…

This would be a huge pickup. He’s not as exciting as Todd, but for sustained success this is exactly the “tier” of player I’d love to see Michigan land. Top 40 guy, but with a high likelihood of sticking around for multiple years. I don’t have confidence in MI consistently pulling the true five stars “one and done” types,  but filling a roster of top 30-50 types seems more feasible and the added continuity of getting multi-year players could be key for success.

Of course, if a five star like Christopher wants to commit, sign me up for that in a heartbeat. I just get pessimistic about the likelihood of those guys actually signing, and think players like Hunter are right in the sweet spot for forming the foundation of the team.

Haskins clearly does not…

Haskins clearly does not have any long speed, but he hits the hole with some surprising burst!

The defensive line is…

The defensive line is largely unimpressive. Would like to see Mazi Smith and Chris Hinton get some more run. I had also hoped that Vilain would start to emerge by now.

Any positive whispers on…

Any positive whispers on Green’s development at CB? Do you expect to see him remain ahead of the true freshmen?

In this case I’m skeptical…

In this case I’m skeptical of the processing argument, primarily because of the CB depth chart. If he were fully healthy and at full speed, I’d have to believe he’d have had a chance to be a real contributor.

I don’t recall ever seeing a…

I don’t recall ever seeing a commentator diagnose so many key plays pre-snap as Tony Romo just did. It was like the the game was on tape delay and he’d already seen the play unfold. Impressive!

If you’re thirsty for Coca…

If you’re thirsty for Coca-Cola, I know a place...

Maybe I’m just a grinch, but…

Maybe I’m just a grinch, but I have a hard time with the trend of recruits making a “big announcement” of their top ten or more potential schools. Wake me up when Michigan makes the top three!

Gripes aside, he’s definitely a fit on the all-name team. I wish him better fortune than Mr. Blaylock.

I expect Phil Paea will be flipped back to DT to help with depth. Hopefully he’s been adding strength and weight and is up for the challenge.

This one hurts.
