I don't see why not? Granted, I'm not an insider and have zero knowledge on what goes on inside Schembechler Hall, but guys are leaving solely because they were told they had no option to play this year, so they weren't given much of a choice unless they wanted to wait around, not play a single down or put anymore meaningful tape together for NFL scouts, and hope that maybe football comes back by 2021.

Now, if someone decided to go run off and join Lane Kiffin's merry band of morons down in Oxford, then yeah, you switched your allegiances. You made your bed, now go sleep in it. But I'd say for guys like Jaylen, Ambry or Kwity, this certainly falls in the category of extenuating circumstances. They didn't leave to go play for another college team. They took the only viable option that was given to them. In Ambry's case, it was literally the only option, as he's a senior.

It is not "literally the only option" - the NCAA has already announced that all players will be granted an extra year of eligibility and not count against 85 scholarship limit -- would have the option to sit this year and return to play in 2021 for UM and then declare for the draft. How attractive or feasible that option is could definitely be debated - but it is literally an option.

Some guys who signed with agents might be able to pay a little $$ back and come back for November with the help of lawyers given all the extenuating circumstances.

Whether or not a player would want to stop being paid to come back and hope to improve their draft stock is another matter.

The agent side of this is interesting to consider - I've been curious about how many have been coming at top guys with checkbooks open.

I think as long as they haven't signed with an agent they can come back. But if they already have, then no dice.

I think the guys like Micah Parsons who really can't improve their draft stock at all by playing another season won't come back. Someone like Kwity Paye, though, might consider it, and maybe Jaylen. Kwity could solidify himself as a Day 2 guy with a great season, and Jaylen could solidify himself into Day 1 with a great season of his own. But the real question will be what exactly prevents the B1G from pulling the rug out from under their student athletes again a few weeks before this supposed November schedule starts.

What's going to prevent Schlissel from just overruling Harbaugh and Warde and just saying "no way, not going to happen" again?

Everywhere I’ve read projects him at Day 2. Now if he makes it to Day 1, then that’s great for him. I hope he does make it into the first round. But you don’t need to be a prick about it.

Also, just an FYI, Todd McShay as of a week or two ago does NOT have Kwity in the first round. That guy is a bit of an authority on the subject.

If they play in November they will look a bit foolish.  That's fall(ish) after a declaration that they wouldn't play in the fall. Being decisive based on the best possible info is good, walking backwards from your position that quickly makes it seem like you rushed things.  Hindsight and all but putting a hard pause on practice and delaying indefinitely would have been a better position if this really is how the season plays out.

If there's a bubble, B1G will essentially declare them as a professional athlete, not amateur. Not that I care about it because football and basketball players are treated as more of a professional players than student-athletes anyway.

I hope whoever sued the NCAA will use this as evidence if B1G does go through with the bubble(unlikely).

The B1G has really bungled this whole thing.  First they released an implausible schedule and then a week later they apparently voted to cancel fall sports with almost no transparency and very little input from AD’s, coaches parents or students.

They should have just delayed the start of the season to late September to allow more time to analyze the data and to get input from those actually effected.

They don’t need the input of parents and students to make a health-related decision. That’s a view you only see from people with football on the brain. When school presidents decide to go remote campus-wife, they don’t first talk to students and parents.

Most schools wanted to postpone or cancel the season. This is not in dispute. So what more transparency do you need?
