B1G football might actually be back on the menu for 2020
According to Steve Lorenz, The Big Ten might make a November schedule announcement soon.

It may be on the menu, unfortunately is states "seasonally, when available" after it.

Well, 2020 has never once strayed from being the Year of Not Having Nice Things, but hell I still have hope in me.

Perfect depiction of the current scenario

Isn't it peculiar, how some traditions just slowly fade away
August 28th, 2020 at 1:28 PM ^
right on point
August 28th, 2020 at 1:56 PM ^
This captures the moment perfectly.

You won MGoBoard today.
August 28th, 2020 at 11:33 AM ^
I wonder what happens to the kids who've already declared. Are they allowed to come back? Would they?
August 28th, 2020 at 11:37 AM ^
Declaring doesn't mean they can't change their minds, as long as they haven't signed with an agent.
August 28th, 2020 at 11:57 AM ^
I meant it more as will the team want them back. Will they even consider coming back?.
August 28th, 2020 at 12:25 PM ^
Why wouldn't they want them back? Currently there isn't a concrete plan to play football. They are hoping for this or planning on that, but there hasn't been a guarantee of any football for these players.
August 28th, 2020 at 12:26 PM ^
I don't see why not? Granted, I'm not an insider and have zero knowledge on what goes on inside Schembechler Hall, but guys are leaving solely because they were told they had no option to play this year, so they weren't given much of a choice unless they wanted to wait around, not play a single down or put anymore meaningful tape together for NFL scouts, and hope that maybe football comes back by 2021.
Now, if someone decided to go run off and join Lane Kiffin's merry band of morons down in Oxford, then yeah, you switched your allegiances. You made your bed, now go sleep in it. But I'd say for guys like Jaylen, Ambry or Kwity, this certainly falls in the category of extenuating circumstances. They didn't leave to go play for another college team. They took the only viable option that was given to them. In Ambry's case, it was literally the only option, as he's a senior.
August 28th, 2020 at 1:10 PM ^
It is not "literally the only option" - the NCAA has already announced that all players will be granted an extra year of eligibility and not count against 85 scholarship limit -- would have the option to sit this year and return to play in 2021 for UM and then declare for the draft. How attractive or feasible that option is could definitely be debated - but it is literally an option.
August 28th, 2020 at 1:03 PM ^
Some guys who signed with agents might be able to pay a little $$ back and come back for November with the help of lawyers given all the extenuating circumstances.
Whether or not a player would want to stop being paid to come back and hope to improve their draft stock is another matter.
The agent side of this is interesting to consider - I've been curious about how many have been coming at top guys with checkbooks open.
August 28th, 2020 at 2:50 PM ^
I'd assume they also still have to be enrolled in school. If they declared they are going to the pros and dropped out of school, they probably cant play in November.
August 28th, 2020 at 12:10 PM ^
I think as long as they haven't signed with an agent they can come back. But if they already have, then no dice.
I think the guys like Micah Parsons who really can't improve their draft stock at all by playing another season won't come back. Someone like Kwity Paye, though, might consider it, and maybe Jaylen. Kwity could solidify himself as a Day 2 guy with a great season, and Jaylen could solidify himself into Day 1 with a great season of his own. But the real question will be what exactly prevents the B1G from pulling the rug out from under their student athletes again a few weeks before this supposed November schedule starts.
What's going to prevent Schlissel from just overruling Harbaugh and Warde and just saying "no way, not going to happen" again?
August 28th, 2020 at 3:56 PM ^
Meanwhile, Kwity is projected to go 14th Overall. Have a clue before you type stupid things.
August 28th, 2020 at 7:11 PM ^
Everywhere I’ve read projects him at Day 2. Now if he makes it to Day 1, then that’s great for him. I hope he does make it into the first round. But you don’t need to be a prick about it.
Also, just an FYI, Todd McShay as of a week or two ago does NOT have Kwity in the first round. That guy is a bit of an authority on the subject.
August 28th, 2020 at 12:21 PM ^
When a player declares do they stop going to class and focus entirely on preparing for the draft? Seems like the enrollment status could be different from player to player.
August 28th, 2020 at 12:25 PM ^
Has school started?
August 28th, 2020 at 12:42 PM ^
Players have been on campus since June, iirc.
August 28th, 2020 at 12:45 PM ^
Classes start next week.
August 28th, 2020 at 11:35 AM ^
So they finally realized how stupid they look
August 28th, 2020 at 11:38 AM ^
Rapid testing is becoming more of an option.
August 28th, 2020 at 11:52 AM ^
Exactly! It's not like the SEC, Big 12, ACC and Fuck Notre Dame are going to sit around and feel sorry for us (and the Big 10).
August 28th, 2020 at 12:17 PM ^
They only look stupid to stupid people.
August 28th, 2020 at 1:47 PM ^
If they play in November they will look a bit foolish. That's fall(ish) after a declaration that they wouldn't play in the fall. Being decisive based on the best possible info is good, walking backwards from your position that quickly makes it seem like you rushed things. Hindsight and all but putting a hard pause on practice and delaying indefinitely would have been a better position if this really is how the season plays out.
August 28th, 2020 at 2:34 PM ^
I think they would look foolish if they stuck to their previous decision because they were scared of looking foolish. Things are evolving and their thinking on the matter appears to be evolving as well.
August 28th, 2020 at 3:19 PM ^
I think they would look foolish if you thought they would look foolish if I thought they would look foolish because they made a decision and were scared of looking foolish
August 28th, 2020 at 6:40 PM ^
Stop being foolish
August 28th, 2020 at 1:54 PM ^
Nah, it's a ploy to get the pain-in-the-ass buckeye protesters off the conference lawn.
August 28th, 2020 at 11:37 AM ^
Create the bubble....
August 28th, 2020 at 11:52 AM ^
If there's a bubble, B1G will essentially declare them as a professional athlete, not amateur. Not that I care about it because football and basketball players are treated as more of a professional players than student-athletes anyway.
I hope whoever sued the NCAA will use this as evidence if B1G does go through with the bubble(unlikely).

Kraken is also a good crypto site. Best to get in early. I’ve seen the future...
August 28th, 2020 at 11:41 AM ^
Great news. Find a way to allow B10 Teams to qualify for Playoffs. Push playoffs back to mid January. Squeeze an 8 game schedule in.
August 28th, 2020 at 11:50 AM ^
Not gonna happen. B10 needs to change their schedule, not the other way around.
August 28th, 2020 at 11:50 AM ^
The B1G has really bungled this whole thing. First they released an implausible schedule and then a week later they apparently voted to cancel fall sports with almost no transparency and very little input from AD’s, coaches parents or students.
They should have just delayed the start of the season to late September to allow more time to analyze the data and to get input from those actually effected.
August 28th, 2020 at 12:05 PM ^
A late Sept (26th) start to the season would have been a better option as you state. This whole schedule thing has and is a big mess. Will a November start become a reality?-I'll wait and see but hope is dim.
August 28th, 2020 at 1:04 PM ^
They don’t need the input of parents and students to make a health-related decision. That’s a view you only see from people with football on the brain. When school presidents decide to go remote campus-wife, they don’t first talk to students and parents.
Most schools wanted to postpone or cancel the season. This is not in dispute. So what more transparency do you need?
August 28th, 2020 at 1:08 PM ^
Remote-wife? Sign me up.
August 28th, 2020 at 1:29 PM ^
you mean you haven't programmed your wife with the universal remote yet?
It's pretty sweet, I rewind my wife back 20 years before we got married and had 3 kids for deviant purposes but it also it gives me an edge in arguments
August 28th, 2020 at 1:58 PM ^
Does one of those buttons on the remote activate the ass-eating sequence?
August 28th, 2020 at 4:05 PM ^
The input-source button. You may have to cycle through all the available options, but it's there.
August 28th, 2020 at 2:24 PM ^
Remote CAMPUS-wife? Even better!
August 28th, 2020 at 1:16 PM ^
Actually a lot of schools did get input from parents on whether to return in classroom environment or virtual
August 28th, 2020 at 11:46 AM ^
Oh so after the election?? Hmm nice...
