Zach Charbonnet on why he's at UCLA... because he "likes not having lies told to him."

Submitted by ImRightYouKnow on October 8th, 2022 at 11:44 AM

Reggie Bush just interviewed Zach Charbonnet on Big Noon and asked what's great at UCLA. ZC responded first with the culture, but then continued that he likes "not having lies told to him."

Seems like he's a bit salty and decided to take an unnecessary shot at the UM Coaching staff.

I'm sure getting buried by the rest of UM's RBs has nothing to do with that.

He was referring to Cottage Inn. They once gave him a pizza with pineapple on it. He transfered the next day. He still says his mantra, "if it has pineapple, it ain't pizza" before every game.

Dude, nobody here cares about pizza.

Sashimi brother. Rice and pizza make you fat, and even in the 80 degree fall chill, in LA you need to keep it tight for the beach.

You can keep the wrinkles, we’ll take care of the perfectly tanned botoxed bikini babes for you.

Saw that too.
Love me some Zach but Meritocracy seems to be real in Ann Arbor.  Hopefully, Zach continues to do well at UCLA and his comment does not become a distraction.

I was super bummed when he transferred.  He’ll probably play in the NFL, but he didn’t outplay Haskins and he’d be second string to Corum this year.

I’ve been lied to and defrauded at jobs, but saying anything just makes me look like a sucker and/or someone who doesn’t take responsibility for his situation.  Charbonet will learn that lesson.

I was wondering about that. I'm guessing it was less about "lies" and more about being told something only to have circumstances change.

If you're mature, you're understand that. If you're a 20-year-old kid, it's harder to understand.

Yeah, which is amazing, because ZC is a pretty good back. Then you toss Donovan Edwards into the mix, and realize Michigan had some Alabama-level recruiting at RB over the last few years. (Haskins didn't have the stars, because of his speed, but he was a hellaciously good college RB.(

I think that he meant that UCLA delivered on the things they promised him. I don't necessarily think that was a shot at Michigan. IIRC he transferred to he closer to home in Cali.

I was a fan of Zach and was hoping he could learn to be a teammate with Haskins for the greater good of the team.

Turns out would rather get all the attention of all 5k fans at the Rose Bowl than be a team player on a Playoff team.

I watched the same thing and didn't feel like he was talking about Michigan. Instead, he spoke about why he chose UCLA over all the other schools when he transfered. Which was what Reggie Bush asked him. However, I understand how people may have taken it the other way, and because he didn't specifically name a team or teams, nobody really knows what he meant.
